Chapter 22 - Information Is Key

In the Matriarch's chamber General Raziya was kneeling with one knee at his moment her Siren tail that she was sporting when outside this room was nowhere to be seen. Her grayish white smooth hair braided in a beautiful pattern and style on her head giving her a certain charm. Her fish fin like ears, glittering sky blue colored skin and steadfast eyes, could make one know that this person had great ambitions.

"Even though Azizi is stronger than you, he is not that much stronger, therefore much of a problem he should not pose, child time is precious, on Azizi, it cannot be wasted, my expectations of you cannot be let down. Surely you chased him away along with his people, to be distracted now, you cannot afford." Her voice sounded like a sweet melody being sung or a poem being recited to entice the masses it hung in the air while she spoke anyone would find it hard to forget.

The martriach's voice reverberated in the chamber as her voice came from the thick white mist that was covering the pool in the middle of the chamber, the pool was heptagonally shaped if one were to look from above, at the edges large stones were protruding at all seven sides. Thick white mist was constantly rising from the water in the pool to the air making the figure at the centre of the pool to be obscured from vision.

Raziya replied respectfully "Mother I wouldn't have come here if it was not serious, Azizi bypassed all the defensive measures around my peak and made it inside and left without triggering any of them, I find this concerning since our goal cannot be known to outsiders, Azizi entered and left leaving me clueless about why he even came in the first place, matriarch please advise. "Raziya said respectfully.

" Oh...." the Matriarch gasped with a hint of surprise." It seems we may have a problem, he probably advanced by a minor level and now has a new ability, it's no matter though you should keep an eye out for him at such a crucial juncture you cannot allow him to disturb you, for now keep your eyes on the mission in front of you, I'll send some people to ensure he does not intrude at your peak again. You may leave now your mother has some things to settle as you know. " the martriach said this as the mist slowly stopped going up and started churning and expanding slowly filling up the entire chamber.

Seeing the mist rolling towards her Raziya respectfully bid farewell to her mother and shut the large doors with beautiful murals in front of her and let out a breathe of relief.

" With mother taking action I can focus on my primary goal and can put Azizi aside for now, once this is achieved, the position of Martriach is basically mine, my fellow sisters won't even have the ability to compete at that time, even if they ask for assistance from mother." Raziya thought with excitement welling up inside of her threatening to explode.

Oliphant was already in his rented room, at this point he was absolutely stuck! Any decision he takes from now would mean his demise.

"As they say no situation can be said to be hopeless it is only people that give up hope in hopeless situations. This is a magical world where almost anything could be achieved. Since I have awakened due to the efforts of Zakia I may still have a way out all I needs to do is to find it." Oliphant heaved a heavy sigh as he thought of this.

"When it rains it pours indeed in simple terms I am literally f****d!" Oliphant screamed in his mind while seated on the goat hide that was in the secret room.

"Due to me awakening as a spellcaster the only physical change that I can feel is my thinking capacity can be said to have increased which allowed me to infer from Bwana's ability even though I saw it once, a pity Zakia absorbed I would have thanked him properly, since I awakened I never had the chance to interact with other people practicing the way of the world since I was banished by the Seed Nurturing Academy to the foot of the mountain within Zakia's home village before he awakened." Oliphant thought.

"I had only interacted with normal people for the whole three months, they were very good people may their souls rest in peace, and I had close to zero information about the magical knowledge of this world since I was crippled as soon as I got here, until I was attacked by Bwana and the other girl from the academy who's name I did not catch unfortunately and were trying to fish in muddy waters because of Zakia's previous status in the academy that's when the trouble started."

" After Zakia fled, after causing an incident at the village I was in the wilderness the whole time and never had the chance to interact with others with the only thing I gleaned being Bwana's three element skill which helped me survive till I reached this place. Of course, also not forgetting the man on the ship that got me here except he wasn't too keen in communicating with me and left quickly and the prince and his henchmen and lastly Azizi." Oliphant tried to comb through his memories since he came here to see if he can find any clues that will get him out of his predicament.

Oliphant noticed one thing after this recollection, he lacked one thing, information. But who was Oliphant, this was a man who was one of the top detectives in his country collecting information was not going to prove difficult for him since he was well versed in the art of gathering intelligence.

Last night Oliphant had asked for information about the general news about the happenings in the Valley of Sirens, he also asked for maps, information on important people, norms and customs as well as political activity of the Valley and etc. When in Rome one must do as the Roman's do. At this point Oliphant knew about all the different kinds of races and their behaviors and such so his plan had started to form. To the providers of this information, Kael so to say this was just general knowledge known by everyone, what's wrong with making a few gold coins for this information, so he gave it to Oliphant without much hassle.

But this information would now prove quite useful to Oliphant at this moment of crisis. Oliphant went through the information he got the previous night in his mind, he found that he could unearth almost every detail about what he had read. Right now he was just finishing off what he did not read due to Azizi's arrival and finalizing his plan.

"Being a spellcaster really is convinient, if it was me in my past life I would need atleast two weeks to remember all these details." Oliphant admired this ability while secretly shocked, mind you Zakia had not told him much information about what a spellcaster really is.

" First thing I need is a disguise as I travel outside. "Oliphant thought for a while and came up with a plan.

Morning hours were almost over now approaching mid day, the sky was overcast with white-grey clouds indicating that rain should be expected, but this did not disturb the busyness of this city.

In an empty allyway in the noisy city of Raziya's peak Oliphant had a three colored mask in his right hand and was moving it towards his face, it was swirling in a spiral of three colors of yellow, green and blue in equilibrium, but as it got closer to his face the green color became the dominant color and the mask shown with a green light.

The mask seeped into his face and wart like pots appeared all over his body and his skin had a green shade on it, now Oliphant looked like the multitudes of all the other people in this city his appearance now was not remarkable, people will tend to forget him quickly with this appearance, being a human in a city run by deviant humans was too eye catching so he opted for this appearance he felt that this would be easier for him to collect information. Upto this point Zakia had not even uttered a word which put too a lot of pressure on Oliphant.

But there was nothing he could do, with the little time he has he can only do this. Seeing his appearance change so drastically Oliphant was one again marveled by how magical this world and how great his cognitive abilities had actually gotten, him being able to come up with yet another spell of his own but his happiness did not last when he thought of the troubles he was in.

After doing all this Oliphant slipped into the multitude of people and started his search.
