Chapter 9 - Boarding

As Oliphant used the spell more and more by punching holes throughout the cave he realized the flickering light runes tattooed on him were now dimming and the strength and efficiency he punched through the walls decreased.

"Mhm, it looks like I cannot use this Spell for a long period of time, I should use it as my last resort, well I guess now this means I'm ready to leave." Oliphant heaved a sigh as he got to packing up and wearing a black shiny raincoat as he cleared the cave of his traces. Oliphant was actually good at this, as he had been a police officer in his previous life and had uncovered many crimes at which scenes had been cleared, one could say he had indirectly acquired a skill to cover his tracks, after all he has not ruled out the fact that there may be people after him even if he may be considered to have left the village and the academy a long time ago at this point , after doing all this he left the cave and disappeared into the heavy rain outside.

After a few weeks of traveling Oliphant had ran out of rations and had to hunt for food to eat. Right now Oliphant was engaged in battle as he had a sharp object in his hand, he was in battle with a beast that looked like a swordfish but not quiet like it, as this one didn't swim in the river or sea water but the muddy soil as the environment around the Valley of Sirens as it was mostly damp and swampy soil which was why people used the river channels around this area to get to the valley of sirens, but because Oliphant was trying to be discreet as possible he did not use this route but walked on foot, navigating through the swamp areas as he walked on walkable areas which he would not sink into as he walked. The swordfish that Oliphant was hunting was not big in size, it was about the size of a small fishing boat used by villagers living near large rivers around the Valley of Sirens. At this moment Oliphant who was glowing with three colored light used all his strength to plunge the sharp object into the eye of the swordfish, a cloudy liquid gushed out of the eye as Oliphant's hand went deep inside the swordfish's eye, it let out a muffled sound of agony and fell to the ground with a loud thud as mud splashed everywhere.

"Ha, this mud swordfish is easy to kill once it makes its way out of the ground, as it can only come out of the ground once in awhile and stab in only one direction and I can easily dodge it when I'm prepared, it has been a good source of food for me and it's sharp sword may even fetch for money when I reach the Valley of Sirens." Oliphant first broke off the sword on the swordfish then cut some of the meat from the swordfish and put them in a bag he had with him, then he quickly left the area as troublesome scavenging beasts would no doubt be attracted by the scent of blood in the area,Oliphant's journey continued in this way as he headed to the Valley of Sirens.

A few months later, Oliphant was on a jetty with some people all wearing raincoats it was difficult to discern ones identity or even gender as the coats covered everything from head to toe, they were waiting for their turn to be furried across the river to finally make it to the Valley of Sirens mountain range city area just like Oliphant. At first Oliphant could not see the exact details about the mountain range but now he could see that a very large city was built on this mountain range with many connecting bridges between the mountain peaks, it was a majestic sight as it show that this was a prosperous city, and it was also a place where Zakia was headed to, to do something, of which Oliphant planned to investigate and thwart his plans as he knew it was not good for anyone, and innocent people would definitely get harmed in the process.

While Oliphant was on the jetty thinking and at the same time shocked by the size and prosperity of the city a ship could be seen making its way to their jetty. The ship was anchored quickly by people wearing shiny royal blue colored raincoats.

While Oliphant was waiting he saw a group of people approaching the jetty at this moment as it was clear that they too were here to be ferried across the river. A young man who one could see that he was a person of high status was escorted towards this area, everyone made way for them so they could go ahead of everyone.

"This is really too unpleasant why should I share the same boat as all these commoners, couldn't we just get our own ship to cross us over? " the young man said as he approached the boat.

One of the men escorting the young man explained. "Young lord, I'm afraid in the Valley of Sirens, only those with the sea creature bloodline can enjoy such privileges they can even swim or fly right over this place."

"That really pisses me off why do I have to go through all this, this is really frustrating, now I have to even breathe the same air as these people." the young man remarked as he took out a cloth to cover his mouth. At this moment the gangway was already in place and one of the men accompanying the young man took out a small bag that looked heavy and threw it to one of the men who were clearly on the gangway to receive the payment from the passengers.

"Young Lord, please bear with it if it were not for the ferocious beasts in this river even without any bloodline we would have flew over this place, anyhow this boat is enchanted and cannot be detected by the beasts, it a good choice for crossing over this place." one of the men continued explaining. After the young man was on board the ship the other people also started paying and got on board. Now it was Oliphant's turn he did not have any money to pay so he brought out his bag and took out the swords he had extracted from the mud swordfish he hunted on his way here.

After Oliphant brought out some of the the swords the man collecting money looked at he swords that Oliphant had taken out after a while he said. "Just these are not enough but if you give double the amount it will be enough to get you across."

"Is that right?" Oliphant took out more as he doubled the number of swords on the ground. The man's body reaction showed that he was surprised. "You must be proficient in killing these kinds of fish huh, well, welcome aboard the ship." the man gestured for Oliphant to walk through with his hand. One of the ship workers came to collect the swords on the floor.

As Oliphant boarded the ship, one of the guards who were with the young man who had covered his mouth with a cloth earlier was approaching Oliphant.
