I was taken aback by the sudden burst of noise and excitement, as everyone around me erupted into screams "Happy Birthday, Nia!" Surprised, I felt a rush of emotions overwhelm me, sending a jolt of shock through me ,causing me to shake slightly …Tears welled up in my eyes, escaping down my cheeks uncontrollably.Amidst everything that had been happening, the date had slipped my mind entirely.
Looking around, I saw familiar faces – Aunt Cari, Lucian, Diego, Matt, Isabel, Omar – all gathered around, their smiles bright and their eyes filled with warmth. "Thank you all so much," I managed to choke out, my voice thick with emotion. "I didn't even remember it was my birthday today.."
