Aoroi strode down the immaculate corridor, his footsteps echoing on the glossy tile. The hallway was bathed in bright white light that reflected off the sleek metal and glass architecture. He walked with purpose, focused intently on the path ahead. Though still a teenager, his eyes held a sharp intelligence beyond his years.
The corridor opened up into a soaring atrium, the heart of Emoji Academy. Students mingled in small groups, their holographic tablets projecting streams of data and images into the air around them. Sunlight streamed in through sweeping translucent ceilings, washing the space in warm light. In the center of the atrium towered a smooth obsidian statue depicting the Emoji founders.
Aoroi hurried on, the vibrant sounds and colors blurring past him. His mind was fixed on one goal - Heaven's Gate, the door looming at the far end of the atrium. He felt the weight of this moment deep in his core.
As he crossed the threshold, he found himself on a platform overlooking the sprawling metropolis below. Gleaming buildings stretched to the horizon. Flying vehicles buzzed by, weaving seamlessly through the crisp morning air.
Aoroi paused, drinking in the view. For a moment the bustling city faded away, leaving only the rush of wind and the steel in his eyes. He clenched his fists and took a deep breath.
This was it. This was the beginning.
Aoroi's hands trembled as he stared out at the futuristic cityscape, his thoughts drifting back to that fateful graduation day. Valeria's cruel laughter still rang in his ears, her words slicing deeper than any knife. She had orchestrated it all, exposing his family to financial troubles. Their gasps and giggles of shock still haunted him.
After that day, his father couldn't bear the shame, drinking himself to illness. His mother worked herself ragged trying to pay off their debts, until the day she collapsed and got hospitalized.
Aoroi clenched his fists, rage simmering in his core. Valeria had taken everything from him with that vicious prank. His good name, his family, his future.
Well, today that ended. Aoroi's eyes hardened with cold determination. He would stop at nothing to exact his revenge and make Valeria feel the same loss and humiliation she had inflicted on him. This was his purpose now. His hands stopped trembling, steadying with the weight of his new resolve.
Whatever it took, he would have justice.
Aoroi remembered his fingers flying across the computer keyboard, lines of code streaming across the screens surrounding him. He remembered coding from his room like he was deep in the underbelly of the city's central server, hacking past firewall after firewall until he found his target - the Emoji Communications System.
He remembered uploading the virus he had engineered specifically to cripple the entire Emoji Telecommunications System, vividly rembering how immediately, chaos erupted outside as screens flickered, communications failed, and emoji transmission ground to a halt and he was transported to this world.
"Valeria," he growled under his breath, "you took everything from me. Now I will take everything from you."
His hatred simmered within, a cold determination. He had to walk this path of revenge alone, avoiding attachments. The denizens of this place were merely obstacles on his road to retribution.
Aoroi would go to any lengths to exact vengeance upon the one who had ruined his life. No price was too high to settle that debt. The time had come to make Valeria pay.
Aoroi reached the end of the corridor and emerged into open air, the sunlight momentarily blinding after the darkness. Squinting, he saw the imposing gates of Heaven looming ahead, pearly white and radiant.
There, in the distance, waited Captain Ghost and his squad mates, who all stood motionless, spectral forms shimmering in the light. Hands on the hilts of his belt, the captain watched Aoroi's approach with hollow eyes.
Aoroi stopped, turning his gaze skyward. The clear blue seemed to stretch endlessly above, wisps of clouds drifting lazily. For a moment, he was still, the bitter wind ruffling his hair.
He closed is eyes, feeling the breeze around him. He then clenched his fists tightly, feeling the anger and bitterness rising up in him again. This place, these people - they were nothing to him. All that mattered was vengeance.
He took a deep breath, then let it out slowly. "Valeria," he said under his breath. "I'm here because of you. I'll play along with their games for now. But soon, very soon, I'll make you pay for what you did to my family. I swear it."
His vow made, Aoroi strode forward to meet Captain Ghost. The time for revenge would come. But first, he had to get stronger. Strong enough to crush Valeria once and for all.
Aoroi walked steadily towards Captain Ghost and his squad members, his face an impassive mask. Inside, his thoughts churned.
He would bide his time here at the Academy, learn whatever skills they could teach him. All to further his ultimate goal.
When the time was right, he would break from them and forge his own path. A lonely path, with no attachments or distractions.
Aoroi knew he would have to harden his heart and do whatever was necessary to achieve vengeance against Valeria. Betrayals, sacrifices - nothing was off the table. He would become as ruthless as need be.
As he reached Captain Ghost, Aoroi met the squad leader's glowing gaze unflinchingly. They exchanged brief greetings.
"I'm here for one reason," Aoroi said coldly. "To put an end to the viral conquest and get justice for my family by making Valeria's pay for her actions."
Captain Ghost nodded. "Then we will train you well. Your determination will make you strong, yet revenge is not always the best course of action."
Aoroi set his jaw. "It's more than determination. I will let nothing sway me from this path, no matter the cost. Valeria will pay. That is my unwavering vow."
His words hung in the air as Aoroi and Captain Ghost sized each other up. Aoroi's path was chosen. Now the real test would begin that would forever determine his path.
