"I'm so dizzy! That bastard got me good but it was worth it." Rain says, stumbling on his feet, crashing to the hard ground next to Fin.
"You all right boy?" His voice comes out in a wince checking Fin over.
A high-pitch wine followed by endless licks meets Rain. followed by a struggling limp over to his master, a slight tail wag can be seen. Trying to show his appreciation in spades. He struggles to get to his paws, wincing as his paw meets the ground again.
"Ah ah ah don't worry boy I've got you."Rain coughs, scooping up his friend with care and concern despite his equilibrium being shattered.
"We've got to get going." He says, disorientated and exhausted. His hair and clothes long since drenched from the downpour. .
"Don't worry I wont leave you." Rain says, holding tightly to fin with all his strength.
"We're almost there now fin, almost....there". His eyes sway and cloud red from the stream of blood leaking out of his head. Only for them to go completely wide in absolute horror.
"No….No…..no. How…how could you!" Rain's heart shatters into pieces as tears stream down his face. The horrific realisation dawns upon him with cruel brutality.
"You left me! You left me behind!" Rain's voice comes out in a quiet hopelessness.
'You know we love you Rain.' His mother's words enter his mind like salt to an open wound.
"SOME LOVE THAT WAS!" He roars out in anger and abandonment. A flurry of emotions grip him like hands clawing into his flesh tearing him apart into the abyss itself.
"Dammit dammit dammit dammit dammit!" Rain's emotions swirl and spin in a violent vortex of thought. Anger, abandonment, distraught, betrayal all of them clashing together in a violent tsunami of chaos.
"Nobody wanted me huh, looks like that fear was proven true." His emotions fall numb as the last of his tears dry up. His mind decides to block everything out at once. Leading his gaze up to the downpour, saturating his skin even further.
"We at least have each other fin."Rain says with an apathetic stare looking for any source of hope available to him.
Looking towards his loving master Fin instinctively tends to the stream of blood trickling down the side of Rain's face. The waters flood further and further rushing with more ferocity, hopelessness dominates his mind as his will to survive dims.
"I think we should just rest, boy. We can rest together like the good old times. I'll make us a bed and will take a long nap together. How does that sound?" Rain says with a warm smile seeking to just have a peaceful way out of this meaningless existence.
"Don't worry boy we have each other everything is going to be alright, I won't leave your side." He says keeping his grip firm on Fin as he guides them both calmly back to his room despite the continuous flooding.
"Were buds right?" He says embracing Fin.
Apathy and acceptance enter his mind, as the will to survive fades away. The abandonment, guilt and alienation finally take what's due. Slowly he pulls up the covers and curls up embracing his dog as well as accepting his death. His yellow eyes slowly fall closed as he begins to let everything go.
Within an hour the bottom level of his house becomes completely flooded. Neither he nor his dog moved from their napping spot knowing the inevitable. After another hour the water crawls up the stairs before it fully engulfs every square inch of his house.
Raging waters barrel down his door, accepting what has come he embraces Fin even further. Everything submerges in an instant as he reflexly takes his last breath. Continuing to cling with whatever strength remains to Fin.
Slowly they both float to the surface of his room's ceiling. The last of their air begins to fade away as they begin to die in each other's arms. Time fades away with the pop of bubbles, his vision slowly begins to darken until everything goes black the agony fading away with the darkness.
—---------------------------------------------------
Rain's mind begins to drift elsewhere, dissipating almost entirely in the process. While his body continued to cling to life despite the torture. A hallucination of sorts emerges in his awareness.
"You poor child left alone without any kin. All that remains is your loyal bond." An angelic voice coos its way into his submerged ears reaching him with pure clarity.
"I will restore you and your companion but you cannot return as you were." The voice says with a tone of regret but hopeful at the same time.
"I will bless you both, however, I don't know if you can survive it, it all depends on you, my child." The voice explains letting its concern known.
"So you must fight my child! If you want to continue going on, even with the faintest glimmer of hope. Please reach out to the glimmers of hope." The voice continues to plead to rain's dissolving psyche ringing it back awake like a bell.
"I know you can do it". She says sending another wave of awareness back into Rain.
A lustrous human forms out of the glowing waters. The sunlight illuminates her frame. Almost a ghost floating within the quiet waters. With elegance she leans in, pressing her lips on his forehead. As the outline of her fingers spread across his cheeks.
"Please live, these seas need a man like you," She says before dissolving back into the waters.
The seas themselves begin to hum in a methodical rhythm. Angelic voices leak their way into his fading perception. The feeling of numbing cold is forgotten for a brief moment as the glimmer of warmth entices him to go forward.
Diving deeper and deeper subconsciously. The murky darkness around him starts to lose its gripping fear on him as the bright blue light illuminates a path for him to follow outward. Vertigo starts to grip him as up and down become tangled together.
His psyche refuses to let go of the image of his loyal companion. Holding on to him tightly he starts to dive deeper into the abyss despite the disorientation. Going deeper and deeper towards the light. Bubbles leave his mouth as he realises he can't go much further. Everything within his mind starts to go quiet once more.
"Remember Rain we love you."The memory replays in his mind urging him to go forward. Every last vestige of his survival instinct clinging to anything to make him survive. A wet tongue slides across his cheek from Fin despite everything.
"Don't give up on yourself please." A part of himself manifests, the outline vague and illusive. Bright determination grips on to him not wanting to let go in the slightest.
"Don't let it all go to waste. I know you, use everything you have, every last drop I promise it will be enough. Don't let yourself down." The fragment of himself pleads and begs him.
"I can't, I can't fade away, I can't." Rain's eyes force back open as he continues to reach for the light.
"Even if I've been abandoned, I won't abandon myself"! His will reignites into a scorching inferno becoming the white-hot fuel propelling them even further into the murky depths. Continuing his struggle, despite every part of his body screaming out he continues.
His hand reaches out as far as he can, holding his friend in the other. The light grasped in his hands itself. The last image within his mind is scaled forming all over him until it all goes blue.
—------------------------
Awareness shuts down entirely as the ocean holds him lovingly. Cradling him in its loving embrace. Powerful magic energy begins to pour into all of his cells. A magical pulse starts to emanate outward as the heart begins to be reinvigorated with life.
*Ba bump ba bump ba dump*
The sea's embrace becomes more and more powerful, emitting a bright glow around his body. Like clay itself, it begins to reshape Rain to its image. Rewriting his very DNA.
His face starts to develop an intricate weave of scales replacing most of the skin on his cheeks. Yellow eyes begin to sharpen further glowing with life. Ears begin to shift and form fins on the tips. Along with the rest of his blue hair falling out, replaced with even more fins.
Their teeth sharpen and elongate following the growth of their jaw. Rows of razor-sharp teeth form in the newly formed spaces of his jaw. Neck muscles knit and weave becoming even stronger. Along with his tongue becoming longer and thicker.
The bright glow continues further engulfing his submerged bedroom in a magical luminescence. As the last remnants of oxygen are expelled from his blood. A rupture and split occurs in the side of his neck spreading open and flexing.
Instinctually they begin to draw in water desperately. Until a steady rhythm forms leading his body into a calm relaxed state.
The muscular structure in his body begins to warp and strengthen. Toning his whole vessel with ease. Scales continue to sprout and form all his arms and legs with an Azure hue to them.
The fingers follow suit engulfed with scales as the spaces in between are filled with a thick webbing. Hard nails sprout out of the tips of his fingers. Fins emerge on the backs of his forearms like newly formed wings. Scales continue to form the transformation devouring more and more of the magical energy emanating out of his body.
The back of his torso shifts and accommodates a long spinal fin sprouting out with ease. Abdominal muscle fibres weave together with ease becoming denser and toned.
A long aquatic tail sprouts out from the back of his waist elongating and extending his overall spinal cord. As long as his leg was covered in fins with more densely packed azure scales.
The last of the scales engulf his legs and feet. His toes spread and grow longer as more webbing fills the spaces in between following hard black nails. With the last of the magical residue, the transformation reaches its finality.
*You survived the Transformation!*
*The sea has given you and your loyal companion its blessing, accommodating it to your comprehension. You have been blessed with the Marine System!*
