Today marked the day where the newborn phoenixes will hatch out of their eggs and receive blessings from the Lunar Orichalcum once they reached six years of age, where it would bless one variety of abilities for their souls.
The moon shines down onto the hatchery as a powerful pillar of flames lit up the night sky in the phoenix nest. That was when the clan head and the rest of the bird immortals gather to witness the births.
Many golden-colored eggs shook within the nest, cracking the top of their eggshells to reveal little blazing red, red-orange, and golden hatchlings coming out of their shells. On top of that, some would immediately try their best to fly after they're born; the prodigies are named for taking their first lesson right off the bat.
The immortal nurses then looked towards those who were born with black, brown, white or any base colored feathers, recognizing them as lowborn phoenixes in disappointment. Because their fates were to be sealed as soldiers or become the attendants of the noble-born.
Unexpectedly yet interestingly, there was a gray-feathered chick who had a golden feather birthmark on its head crown. The clan head had never seen a golden feather birthmark on a gray one before.
The little one staggered out of its egg slowly, breathing at a rapid pace just like the ones around it as its eyes open to reveal the color of brown within them.
"Ah. . ."
"Clan Head Fengyue, this child is lowborn but was born with this kind of birthmark. . ." One of the nurses told him, vaguely suggesting a use for the young chick.
What a pity, Clan Head Fengyue thought. A birthmark would still not save you from the prejudice of the phoenix bloodlines. Yet he wasn't disheartened by this young phoenix but rather intrigued.
From what the Heavenly Emperor told him, this young soul was originally born a twin with another soul in the mortal realm and had drifted into the Lunar Heaven after failing to be born alongside her brother.
Since she was a phoenix, it was only natural to be brought into the Lunar Bird Clan to be reborn from divine fire. But never ever had there been a gray phoenix born with such a divine birthmark, and Clan Head Fengyue had a feeling that he shouldn't interfere with her life here other than guiding her by the customs.
The nurses brought each newborn to their cribs with the prodigies being assigned nannies from the Osprey families while the lowborn were cared for by the Sternula families besides the cribs.
Clan Head Fengyue would then name the babies as the clan head's blessing for their births, going to each one in a row until he stopped at the gray hatchling sleeping soundly in her comfy habitat.
"This one shall be named. . .Haifeng."
And this was where Haifeng's life in heaven began.
