Nathan stopped in his step and turned to face the butler as he leaned against the wall. His usually kind expression was now rather rigid.
"Your Grace?" The servant asked nervously.
"I'm asking you, Claus… You don't think Violet will become the duchess?"
"That…! Your Excellency, if you harbour any feeling towards her…"
"I'm not talking about myself, of course…" Nathan chuckled. "Do you think my brother would let anyone else marry her?"
The butler silently gulped. The young master's feelings towards the miss from outside were like an open secret to him. Most of the servants in the castle were blinded by jealousy as they couldn't understand why a commoner who was not even working for the duke got such special treatment.
But he was different. He experienced how Cassiel threw away the people who disrespected the miss without a speck of sympathy. However, he also hoped that it was just a childhood crush that would go away with the time.
