Violet woke up with a shock as she felt like she overslept and missed something important. Her eyes opened but were shut down immediately since the strong daylight blinded her from seeing the surroundings.
Her breathing was erratic, and her heart was beating fast. She was just a step away from a panic attack.
"Calm down… Breath in deeply…" A very gentle voice instructed her, and she followed his words. "Your eyes haven't seen the sunlight in a long time, so open them very carefully…"
She heard the sound of curtains being pulled down and gradually opened her eyes again. The room was very dim as heavy velvet drapes blocked all the lights outside.
"Your Grace?"
The person standing near the windows with honey-brown hair was no one else than the master of the castle, Nathaniel Ashford.
