The North Mountains were the place where even experienced adventures could easily die. Violet was shivering all over the body, her limbs numb by the bones shattering cold, and she could see how her breath transformed to ice particles.
"Come closer," Cassiel told her in a low voice, indicating for her to use his body heat to warm herself. But Violet refused. The environment was too harsh, and she didn't want to cause him any harm.
They were at the beginning of the second level right now. The North Mountain was divided into three parts, with the lowest one being safe when people had the right equipment. Many herb collectors and treasure hunters roamed on the first level but rarely ascended higher.
The second level was much more difficult, and the dead bodies were found everywhere on the way, without anyone retrieving them. And then there were the tops of the mountains, where people turned into ice statues in a matter of minutes. It was the absolute dead zone.
