The stone wings of the devil statue flapped, the hairs that were hindering it all snapped instantly. Without the woman's hair slowing down the statue, the man was instantly injured. With a big slam, the man was sent tumbling back, some of the boney spikes that were poking out of his body snapped. The spikes on the man's back dug deep into the wooden walls, nailing him to the wall. With blood dripping down from multiple parts of his body, Leo was not sure if the man was still alive. Seeing that the man was pretty injured, the statue turned to the woman. With a powerful display of her courage, the woman's abnormally long and robust hair began to weave together to form a fist.
The fist slammed straight into the devil, with enough force that cracks even formed on its limbs. The giant fist separated back into individual strands, slowly weaving into a large net. The man who was half embedded into the wall showed signs of regaining his consciousness, he began to struggle, trying to detach himself from the wall.
The large impact seemed to have triggered something inside the statue, even Leo who was hiding in the shadows could feel the statue's power suddenly fluctuate. The woman wove her hair into a large net, trying to immobilize the devil. But suddenly, the statue's face opened, revealing weird contraptions that were glowing red. A huge ball of flames erupted, engulfing the large net. Catching on fire, the woman instantly began to try and extinguish the flames that were quickly eating away her hair. The statue began to charge up its second attack, Leo instantly backed away right up to the staircase, prepared to retreat.
The woman had all her attention on trying to put out the blaze, the statue finally unleashed its second attack. The large ball of molten flames shot fowards, right towards the woman. But before the flames incinerated the woman, a wobbly figure appeared in front of the woman, shielding her from the blast. With his back faced to the incoming attack, he smiled at the woman. "I didn't protect you until the end of time after all," the man said with a warm smile, a small tear of regret in the corner of his eyes. The bones on his back expanded, turning into something like a turtle shell. The fire devoured the man like a large tsunami, his figure disappeared from the world forever.
The woman screamed, "HECTOR!" The chilling screams made Leo's heart tighten, the man really sacrificed himself for her. The woman's vision turned red, her hair began to extend. The waving strands of hair stood up like thousands of slithering snakes. With her hair still on fire, they formed flaming whips, assaulting the statue with everything she's got. The flaming strands of hair struck the statue, leaving scorch marks all over the devil. Multiple cracks formed as thousands of attacks piled onto the devil. Unfortunately, her attacks were futile as she was turned into a bloody mist when the devil's fist slammed right into her.
Watching everything unfold, Leo was both terrified and sad. Hiding in the shadows, Leo noticed that the statue was staring at him with its eerie eyes that were actually two red gemstones. "Shit," Leo thought, instantly ducking to the left. The wooden hallway trembled as some of the planks splintered when hit by the statue's attack, wood chips flying everywhere. The devil turned around, standing right between Leo and the staircase. "Why do I always get myself stuck in these kinds of situations," Leo said, bolting for the door on the opposite end of the hallway.
Created for the sole purpose of stopping any intruder from entering the door, there was no way it would let Leo get away so easily. It shot fowards, with speeds reaching double of what Leo was sprinting at. Forced to address the attack, Leo sent one of the vases that were displayed on a pedestal at the statue flying at the incoming devil with his spear. The vase flew right at its face, shattering into pieces. Unaffected by the slight annoyance, the statue slammed down with its powerful fists. Leaping fowards towards the statue, Leo barely dodged the attack. There was a gaping hole right through the floor, some wood planks fell onto the dining table below. Now Leo was definitely in deep trouble, behind him was a large gaping hole while in front of him was the murderous statue that will delete him with a single punch.
Making up his decision, Leo turned around and leaped with all his might, trying reach the other side of large hole. The mindless statue followed Leo blindly, as if it was completely unaware of the forty feet drop. The statue fell through the floor, snapping the dining table in half. Before he fell down, Leo wedged his spear into the floor, hanging on for dear life. Pulling himself up, Leo had still not recovered from the sudden rush of adrenaline. The statue, the cracks that run across its body were getting deeper and deeper. Looking around, searching for its target, it finally saw Leo staring at it upstairs with a smug grin.
The being who assigned the statue to guard the door probably never thought something like this would ever happen. The defenses of the statue were almost immaculate, clearly displayed from the fight against two awakened earlier. But the defenses also had a big problem, it would increase the statue's weight. The creator of the statue cleverly turned this disadvantage into one of the strongest part of the statue, the devastating blows that it could deliver were backed with several hundred pounds of pure mass. The weight of the statue coupled with the large fall caused significant damage to the statue.
Getting back on its feet, the statue climbed up the stairs once again, the floor trembled with each step. Leo really wanted to enter the next room, escaping from the terrifying statue. But there was one problem, if there was something stronger than the statue behind the doors, he was doomed since there was no way for him to escape. Leo backed away from the hole, waiting for the statue to arrive. Since it was still in battle mode, the statue instantly charged at Leo. But being the brainless guard it is, it simply fell through the hole again, creating a large crater in the floor down below. Unfortunately for the statue, the second floor was made out of very thick marble. The two malevolent looking wings broke off from the statue, more cracks covered the statue like a spider web.
Seeing that this could potentially destroy the statue, Leo leaned on the wall. Pulling out a granola bar from his pocket, he nibbled on the sweet and crunchy grains while watching the statue fall through the hole again and again. The statue became more and more damaged, with half of its body destroyed and two of its limbs missing. After about five times the statue fell through the hole, finally unable to function. Seeing that, Leo grinned before leaping down from the hole. The head of the statue turned towards Leo, the light that shone through its red eyes dimmed down and snuffed out. The whole statue crumbled, revealing a small contraption that seemed to be the core of the statue. "I wonder what this is," Leo thought, picking up the burning hot core. It was made out of a bronze like metal, with multiple runes engraved on the metal.
While Leo was checking out his spoils of the battle, three awakened wandered into the tower. The one in front, a burly man was leading the two other men. If Leo was here, he will definitely recognize the three figures. "He is currently upstairs, boss," Mark said, sensing Leo's whereabouts. "We will wait until he reaches the top, hopefully he'll have a way to heavily injured or kill the towerkeeper," Gary replied, searching through the already looted rooms. Searching around for a couple of minutes without no results, they decided to head upstairs.
As they saw the large dining table which was snapped in half, a slight seed of doubt began to sprout in their hearts. They could see the remains of a weird statue that was directly smashed into pieces. "He did this?" Kevin said, looking at the gaping hole. Furrowing his brows, Mark observed the scene. Clearly the statue was some sort of magical golem, and someone tear a hole through the ceiling, killing the golem in the process. The spear he gave Leo was still moving, so he was probably still alive. "Was I wrong? Could he really be double awakened?" Mark thought, not saying a single word.
Gary did not want to think that much, heading to the stairs he wanted to not fall behind Leo too much. The three went up the stairs, as they saw the remains of the earlier battle. There was a whole section of the hallway where everything was charred, and there were sharp and long spikes still stuck to the wall. "Beast and Elemental! He really is a double awakened!" Mark finally "confirmed" Leo's true colors. "Then we'll kill him when he is wounded during the battle," he thought, firmly believing that Leo was someone they had to take down.
