Alm and Bruno were completely stunned. They focused on Nenuo; there was a subtle life force in his body, but they couldn't feel any fluctuation from his soul. No matter where they looked, he seemed to be dead.
Merua spoke seriously. "Sir…"
"What the hell happened?" the whale interrupted, his tone dry.
"Calm down, sir, he's not dead. Unfortunately, this happened at the worst possible time," she replied with a sigh.
"This body is without soul energy… how is he not dead?" Bruno quickly retorted.
"I know it looks that way, but it's a relatively common occurrence. I went through it myself a few years ago," she answered calmly, and seeing the whale's eyes, she was satisfied. She had many doubts about him, but seeing his clear emotions, she was sure he wasn't what he appeared to be.
