Its wings unfurled, and they expanded to a monstrous size, dwarfing even the largest of buses. These colossal wings, tainted with darkness, cast an ominous shadow over all.
Flames, like serpentine tongues of hellfire, crawled up the wings' serrated edges, bathing the night in a ghastly, fiery glow.
Jiexin looked up, his eyes reflecting the radiant, blazing fire from the transformed demon. Panic surged through him, overwhelming him like a sudden storm, and he was at a loss for what to do.
"What should I do?" he exclaimed, desperately hoping for guidance from the voice within his mind.
"I don't have control of your body, but it seems I can access some parts of your mind," the spirit explained.
"What do you mean?" Jiexin inquired.
"It means I can't do much. I am just a small fragment of your soul. You have to fight him on your own, but I will guide you."
"A fragment of your soul?" Jiexin was increasingly perplexed.
"I will explain later if we are able to come out alive against that demon," the spirit responded.
"Right, please guide me."
Then a glowing, unfamiliar text suddenly appeared in Jiexin's mind. It was in an unknown language, but for some reason, he could read it easily.
"Can you see it?" the spirit asked.
"Yes, what is it?"
"It's an incantation to cast an ability, an art text."
"An ability?"
"Yes, read it and speak it aloud, and you will be able to use it, just like what I did earlier."
"But can't you just cast it for me?" Jiexin inquired.
"I can't cast it, since I am only a fragment of your soul. My spirit energy is low and can only cast one ability," the spirit explained.
"Then how should I face that thing?" Jiexin was growing more anxious as he looked up and noticed that the wings had become even larger and the fire was much brighter.
It was tweaking while the fire intensified. The demon closed its eyes as it underwent a transformation.
"Since you don't have spirit energy, you can only use your life energy," the voice explained.
"My life energy?" Jiexin was perplexed.
"Yes, you are able to cast it with your life energy." The voice paused for a moment. "Casting the ability will consume your lifespan."
Jiexin gulped after hearing this as he observed the searing demon. Silence fell upon both the world and his mind.
The spirit tried to speak but was cut off.
"I should just read it, right?" Jiexin said with determination in his eyes.
The spirit was surprised by his reaction, remembering that humans back then were often selfish and only cared about their own lives. Jiexin was different.
Jiexin didn't hesitate to protect someone; and he didn't care what would happen to him, he was a selfless human.
The spirit can see inside his mind, there was an image of a child, and the cries of its mother. He will do anything to fulfill the promise he made, to keep the child safe.
"Are you sure you want to do this?", the spirit asked.
"Yes, it's just a span of my life. I will lose my life here if I don't."
"Make sense, but I am still not sure how much life energy will be consumed every time you cast an ability," the spirit reminded him.
"It doesn't matter; it's a do or die," Jiexin said with determination, his fear turning into resolve.
"It seems you have already made up your mind."
"Please guide me," Jiexin said.
The demon stopped tweaking its wings and slowly opened its eyes, which were now fiery with flames. The demon had completed its transformation.
"Ahh, that took almost all of my abyssal energy," it breathed with pleasure.
It looked down at Jiexin. "Oh, he's still here. I thought he would run away," the demon smirked.
"I have only unlocked three abilities for now, and all of them are nemo-tier abilities since I am just a lesser spirit," the spirit explained.
Then words were swiped from one to another inside Jiexin's mind, showing all the art text abilities that the spirit currently had.
{Light Shield} (e)
- Scroll (e)
- Barrier (e)
- Hands of Kei (e
"Are these the abilities?" Jiexin asked.
"Yes, just say it aloud, and you will be able to cast it," the spirit instructed.
Jiexin nodded with resolve, "Got it."
Jiexin also saw the amount of his life energy, but it wasn't specified how much he had.
[Life Energy: Unknown]
"I never thought I would be able to use this form again, whoever set our souls free, I! Thank you!"
The demon laughed triumphantly, its voice echoing through the fiery night as it gazed up at the sky. Then it dropped its head to check out Jiexin.
Its massive wings blazed with a menacing brilliance, casting an otherworldly light that devoured the darkness of the night.
Intriguingly, the demon mused, 'This human doesn't seem to know that he was possessed by a spirit.'
Jiexin stared straight above, beads of sweat forming on his forehead as the fiery heat from the demon's blazing wings engulfed the night. It felt like he was standing under the scorching sun.
"Well, this makes it easier for me," the demon exclaimed with a wicked grin. "Let me send you to the afterlife, human," it taunted, its voice filled with malice.
"Get ready; I can sense the demon's intent; it's ready to attack," the spirit within Jiexin warned.
He couldn't help but swallow hard, his heart pounding in his chest.
The demon flapped its colossal wings, and a spectacular display of fiery cinders billowed into the sky, creating a terrifying sight.
"Fiery Wings..."
The demon then began to spin rapidly, like a top, picking up speed until it resembled a falling meteor, hurtling toward Jiexin with unstoppable force.
"Blazing Drill!"
The demon shouted as it descended straight in Jiexin's direction, a catastrophic and deadly force.
"Cast it now!" the spirit urgently shouted.
Jiexin, despite his trembling feet and the fear in his eyes, raised his arm with resolve, his fingers trembling as he recited the text from his mind.
"Light Shield, The Barrier!"
