Chapter 13 - The Wanderer Camp

In the end, Dorian decided to go with the Wanderers. He would see if he could settle with them or if he would make some headway on his own. But first, he would return to their camp and have a good rest.

"So your Gift is Lightning Manipulation?"

Dorian turned to the side where the man called Manli was standing. Manli had long black hair and sharp green eyes, but his demeanor was gentle and friendly as far as Dorian had seen.

"You knew?" Dorian's brows rose.

"Yes. We saw the scorch marks from where you were practicing and I was able to figure it out." Manli nodded and smiled slightly. "My Gift is Clairvoyance. It is nothing too powerful, and I have only been able to raise it to rank 2, but it is still good enough to help with a few things." He explained.

A few gears spun in Dorian's head before he made a realization. "You are the one who found where I was hiding!"

"Haha, you're right. But even if I wasn't there, then the leader would have found you. He has much keener senses than an average person." Manli chuckled and smiled again.

"What are his powers?" Dorian curiously asked.

"I'm afraid I can't say." The man shook his head. "Normally, it is not appropriate to share one's abilities with strangers. It is even less appropriate to share the ability of another person without their permission." He explained.

"Oh..." Dorian frowned. He felt that it was not so fair that everyone in the Wanderer group with him now knew his own Gift, but he then felt that it must have been why Manli had exposed his own Gift to him.

"We are close to the camp now." Manli said and patted Dorian's shoulder. Dorian looked around, but all he could see was piles and piles of rubble in every direction.

'Maybe it is underground?' He asked himself, confused.

Up ahead, the people at the front of the group suddenly vanished into thin air, alarming Dorian! He paused in shock but when he saw Manli's smile and the unbothered expressions of the other Wanderers, he figured that the camp was probably hidden behind some kind of cloak.

'Technology? A Gift?' He wondered but was pulled away from his thoughts when Dominic approached him.

"Our camp is just beyond this barrier. If we pass through it, then you will see the true camp." Dominic reassured him and placed a hand on his shoulder just before they passed through the barrier.

A weird sensation that lasted only a moment passed over Dorian as the sight before his eyes suddenly morphed into something else. The feeling and the experience of having the world change before your eyes were so shocking that Dorian almost fell on his back, but thankfully, Dominic had anticipated this and steadied Dorian with the firm hand on his shoulder.

When Dorian got over the strange sensation, he was finally able to take in his surroundings. Unlike the rubble and trash that had been covering the entire area from outside the barrier, the inside of the barrier was nothing alike.

A large number of tents of different sizes could be seen spread out over a certain area with people walking between the tents. There were about fifty people if Dorian included the group that had found him. But he was sure that there had to be more people, as just fifty people would surely not be enough to take up all the space provided by the tents.

"Welcome to our camp. There is no official name for this camp of Wanderers yet." Dominic smiled and patted Dorian's shoulder. "Come with me." He said and walked in the direction of the tents while other split up and went different ways.

As Dorian got to the Wanderer Camp, Gun and Dora were going through a much different experience.

Gus grumbled as he stepped out of the debriefing room. He had been drilled by his superiors on how badly the car had been damaged and how he had lost Dorian. As Dora had relatives in relatively high positions, they had not focused too much on her and had pinned most of the blame on Gun instead.

"Don't be so sour." Dora said when she stepped out behind Gun.

"You only say that because they didn't chew into you like they did to me." Gun grunted and turned to leave.

"Look, I'll talk to my Dad about it. You won't get any strikes on your record." She said to reassure him but it seemed like her words only irritated him even more.

"Don't bother. I don't need it." He turned around and stormed off, leaving Dora at a loss. She let out a sigh before turning the other way and leaving, choosing to leave Gun to his devices so he could calm down without her hovering over his shoulders.

She left to return to her quarters and freshen up before resting. She would look for Gun later and try to make it up to him.

Meanwhile, Gun went to the only place that he could think of at the moment. He returned to his cousin's garage to talk to the only person who kept an open ear to his worries and rants.

The moment Gun barged into the garage, Devin could tell that his cousin was not in a good mood. He sighed and prepared himself to listen to one of Gun's rants and give some advice that may or may not help.

"How is she coming along?" Gun asked about the car as soon as he took a seat on a stool not far from where Devin was working.

"Err, I'll need a couple of days to return her to her peak. Luckily, nothing too important was broken. Care to share the story?" Devin asked as he stood up and wiped his face and hands, turning to look at Gun.

Gun looked up at Devin and let out a deep sigh before opening his mouth and recounting the events of the day to him.
