Chapter 4 - Laser Blaster

[Sorry for the late upload, I had exams today]

Alex stood in the training room, his heart pounding with anticipation. Before him stood Oliver, the man who had beat the hell out of him. Sweat trickled down his forehead as he awaited the start of his training.

Oliver, a stern expression on his face, looked at Alex with piercing eyes. "Today, we begin your journey to becoming a formidable fighter," he declared, his voice filled with confidence.

"Remember that you can not back out like a cat, infact if you think of it, I will break you I'm two?"

Alex nodded, he knew sir Oliver was not joking, as he would seriously break him if he showed any reluctance.

  "I'm ready, sir."

Oliver cracked a small smile. "Good. We'll start with the fundamentals: footwork, stance, and strikes. These are the building blocks of combat."

For hours on end, Alex practiced tirelessly under Oliver's watchful eye. He stumbled and fell, his muscles aching with every movement. But he refused to give up, more like he couldn't give up as Oliver watched him like a hawk, giving death stares whenever he tried to stop. With each correction from Oliver, Oliver showed him punching and kicking routines, Alex had great memory almost photographic, so he remembered them easily.

As the training session progressed, Oliver introduced more routines. Alex learned how to block, dodge, and counterattack with precision. Oliver pushed him to his limits, testing his endurance and resilience. The pain and fatigue were overwhelming, but Alex persevered, fueled by his desire to become stronger. Alex would only sleep, eat, dump, bath and sleep. His fatigue wouldn't let him do anything. On the fourth day he slept in, only to be woken up by a full powered kick by Oliver, Alex finally knew on that day that Oliver was a demon, Oliver refused to let him of even though the kick cracked a rib, he still had to train.

On the fifth day Oliver decided to have a theoretical class instead of physical. He took some time to ask Alex to elaborate on his meta ability. Alex explained his made up ability to Oliver.

"Hmmmmm, since you can see 3 to 5 seconds ahead, you should learn to incorporate them to your fighting style, seeing your enemies attack before it lands can help you evade and counter easily, actually i am jealous of your ability. Well when we land we will begin incorporating it to your training, also the boss asked to see you later today." With that the training came to an end for the time being.

Alex went to see Wilson. He was requested to meet him in his private office. Curiosity piqued, Alex made his way to Wilson's office, his mind buzzing with questions.

As he entered the on ship office, he found Wilson sitting behind his desk, a serious expression on his face. "Alex, please have a seat," Wilson said, gesturing towards a chair.

Alex sat down, his heart pounding with anticipation. "What did you want to talk to me about, sir?"

Wilson leaned forward, his gaze intense.

"I would like to talk about your skills and how you are going to help the team, as you know we all have to put in work to survive."

Alex decided to sell himself since he was giving the opportunity,

"Firstly i am very knowledgeable about weapons, specifically laser blasters"

Wilson raised a brow when he heard Alex claim

"Ok then can u give me a quick rundown on creating a safe and working laser blaster"

Alex quickly collected his mind and started explaining.

"Sir Wilson, to create a laser blaster, we must first understand the fundamental principles of laser technology," Alex began, his voice steady and authoritative. "A laser operates on the principle of stimulated emission, where light is amplified and focused into a concentrated beam."

Sir Wilson leaned forward, his eyes filled with curiosity. "Please, enlighten me further, Alex."

"Of course, Sir Wilson," Alex continued. "To achieve stimulated emission, we require a medium capable of producing coherent light. In our case, we will be using a diode laser, which utilizes a semiconductor material."

"This diode laser will serve as the heart of our blaster."

"And how do we transform this into a blaster, Alex?"

"We must integrate the diode laser into a suitable housing, capable of harnessing its power," Alex explained. "For this purpose, we can repurpose a toy gun as the foundation of our laser blaster. Its structure and trigger mechanism will provide a convenient framework for our modifications."

Sir Wilson nodded, his interest growing. "And what about the power source?"

"Ah, the power source," Alex replied, a glint of excitement in his eyes. "To energize the laser, we require a reliable and compact power supply. I propose using a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, as it provides adequate power while maintaining portability.

Sir Wilson's brows furrowed with curiosity. "But how will we control the laser? We wouldn't want any accidental discharges."

Alex smiled, anticipating the question. "Indeed, Sir Wilson. To prevent any unintended activations, we will incorporate a trigger mechanism into the blaster. This trigger will act as a safety feature, allowing the user to initiate the laser beam only when desired.

Sir Wilson leaned back in his chair, a look of awe spreading across his face.

"You've got a big brain Alex"

Wilson complimented Alex

"Thank you sir"

"Now if you are given the proper materials and equipment would you be able to actualize your explanation" Wilson asked with expectant eyes.

Alex could guess what Wilson was thinking already. With a sigh he gave his response.

"Yes sir I can"

"Excellent, when we land we will go see professor Ernest. He can provide us all we need for you to start making blasters, templates, materials and others."

Wilson looked at Alex like a golden goose.

"Sir Wilson, how do you plan to market the weapons, we are not a legal company"

Wilson waved his hand and said

"Don't worry kid, as mercenaries you get to Know a lot of things, like black market locations and the rest, so we will sell whatever you make in blackmarket sights"

Alex looked at Wilson as his eyes shined, thinking of his new method of making cash.

"What have I gotten into" Alex muttered to himself.
