Hearing the man shout in excitement, Robert and the crowd of people hurriedly moved closer to the windows and looked out at the streets.
There they saw a man walking on the side of the road swinging a sword and chopping off the heads of the zombies all around him.
"H-He's killing them!"
"Oh My God! How barbaric!"
"That's so fucking so cool!"
"D-Doesn't that make him a criminal for killing them?"
The crowd of people watching Arthur from the top of the building discussed among themselves in confusion.
While most of them were saying that he was committing a crime by killing the zombies who were previously humans, a small number of people were actually fascinated by the way he was reaping the zombie's lives.
Among them was the middle-aged man who was still holding onto his cigarette.
The man sucked in another puff of it and released his breath, his eyes deeply staring at Arthur while he was lost in thoughts.
And even though the crowd was criticizing a lot about the way Arthur was handling things, a small smile hung at the corner of his lips.
After Arthur had killed almost all the zombies on the street, he walked near to the grocery store that was directly in front of their building and slightly opened the shutter before going in.
"Look! That man is entering the store, he must be searching for food."
A person shouted out loud making the crowd's eyes go wide at the thought of food.
"There's food? Can we finally eat something after two days?"
"I need food! My family of four has not eaten anything for the past few days!"
Seeing that the crowd was getting excited at the mention of food and the situation was getting a bit chaotic, Robert turned to everyone and spoke.
"Listen here everyone! There's food in the store just ouside of our building. And seeing how that man entered there, we can also go and secure food for ourselves."
The crowd listened attentively at what he was saying with their eyes bright.
"Now, I want people who would like to volunteer and come along with me to bring over the food from the store."
Silence...
At the mention of leaving the building and going out to the streets that was full of movies, the crowd of people shrank their necks and hesitated.
All of them had been staying inside the safe building from the start of the apocalypse, and luckily for them none of the residents were infected resulting in no zombie to be present in the entire building.
Now for them to leave the safe haven and go out to the cruel streets where zombies roamed searching for humans, was not something they would like to do.
The crowd's silence made Robert feel speachless because just now they were acting crazy for food but when they were asked to go outside of the building to secure food from the store, they kept mum.
"Why are you hesitating? Do you not want to eat food after being hungry for two days? This is our only chance and if we fail to secure food for ourselves today, then all of us will die by starving."
Robert continued putting sense into them, hoping for them to agree with his plan.
The middle-aged man who's name was Darren took a last puff from his cigarette and threw it out the window before walking near to Robert.
"I agree with what he's saying. If we don't get food today then most of us will of hunger. So let's make a group of people who would go out to the store and bring back food."
Seeing that even Darren, one of the most reliable man in their building support that idea, the people started to think about it.
Within a few minutes of discussion, few people raised their hands and volunteered to join the group that'll go out and bring back food.
"I want food, so I'll join."
"I'll come."
"Me too."
The chubby man who had shouted out earlier near the window about Arthur had raised his hand, including a man who had told he had a family of four, and a blonde woman who looked around 25.
Robert smiled looking at all of them and told them to gather around before discussing their plan.
They all introduced themselves to each other while going downstairs from the top floor of the building.
The chubby man spoke.
"Guys, my name is Terry."
The other man also said.
"Oh you can call me Steven."
The only woman in the group, wearing jeans and a sweatshirt also said.
"Umm...Christina."
Robert nodded in appreciation and replied.
"Good. I'm Robert and that is Darren."
He continued.
"Remember, our plan is to exit the building and arrive at the grocery store from where we'll bring back as many food as we can."
Darren listened to the simple version of the plan and shook his head.
"Robert, did you forget about the man who's inside the store right now? What do you think we should do with him?"
A frown took place on Robert's face as he contemplated about it.
"From what we saw, the man was also in search of fiod just like us but he was killing the zombies like they were nothing. So I don't know how we should approach him."
Hearing that, Darren thought for a few seconds and replied.
"Don't worry, I'll have a talk with that guy...."
The group walked down to the ground floor and made their way toward outside to the gates.
Standing inside the building's compound, they slowly sneaked toward the huge gates and walked near to the small door beside the gate.
Robert took the lead and opened the lock of the door, his face serious.
"Click-"
After opening the door, he poked his head out and glanced outisde at the streets.
There were no zombies in the vicinity making him relax a little, but the dead corpses laying all around made him feel a bit uncomfortable.
Holding back the urge to vomit, he turned behind and nodded at the group.
"It's all clear. There's no zombies on the streets nearby."
The rest of them felt relieved that they were not going to encounter any zombies on their way and nodded at him.
Turning back, Robert slowly stepped outside of the door along with the group and Darren at the last following behind.
They started at the carnage and destruction all around the streets making them feel nauseous, but they didn't stop in worry that a zombie would come for them.
Finally, the group of five arrived at the grocery store.
Robert bent down the shutter of the store and made his way inside with the rest doing the same.
All of them entered the grocery store and stood frozen, staring at the man who was sitting on the floor and had dozens of types of bread all around him.
"Bwerp-"
Arthur cleaned his lips with the sleeve of his shirt and turned to look at the group of people in surprise.
"Hmm? Who are you guys?"
