Just as David turned to gaze at his sword again with an idea forming shape in his mind, he was just about to implement it when his ear suddenly twitched.

'What's that sound?' David thought. He shifted his gaze from the fire spear in his hand and turned to stare at several places in his surroundings.
David felt like he had heard something. The sound of what he had heard was very low and very brief, but he was able to catch it. After taking several glances at his surroundings with nothing standing out in any way, David wondered if he had heard wrong.
