Olivia swallowed the imaginary lump in her throat and repeated.
"I want to hear your side."
Kat scoffed, taking a step back from her, and now Olivia could take a sigh of relief because she wasn't standing literally on the edge.
"So what?" Kat let out a breathy laugh. "So you could blabber it to everyone in Huxley?"
Olivia frowned. "Why would I do that?"
"Because that's what everyone in high school does!" She threw her hands up in the air in exasperation. "Latch on every juicy detail they could get, twist it for their entertainment, and spread it all over the campus!"
"I would never do that to you, Kat," Olivia assured.
"How could I be sure of that?" She sneered.
"Because I'm your friend."
Upon hearing Olivia's words, all the twisted emotions painted on Kat's face disappeared. She laughed, though there was still a look of disbelief on her face.
