"Woah!" Olivia gasped as soon as her shoes landed on the ground. It was made out of expensive-looking stones.
Just as she was about to admire the Twyne Mansion's premises, she was interrupted by the voice of Joe.
"I'll be parking the car now, Sir Oliver, and Miss..." He trailed off, not knowing how to address her.ย
"Olivia," She supplied. "Call me Olivia, no miss, please."
"This is noted, Olivia."
She watched as Joe the chauffeur, drove toward the garage, which seemed more like a warehouse, judging by its sheer size from the outside. She could guess that it had more luxury cars inside.
She turned her head again and began to admire her surroundings.
The first thing Olivia noteworthy thing she noticed inside the Twyne Mansion's premises was the manicured lawns. It had carefully designed landscaping that led to the entrance of the courtyard.
In the middle of the courtyard was a fountain, serving as the centerpiece with cascading waters. Surrounding the fountain were bushes that were shaped like ducks.
She expected a variety of carefully shaped bushes, but all she saw was a variety of sizes: small ducks, medium ducks, big ducks, and super big ducks.
"Why ducks?" Olivia couldn't help but ask her other self as they passed by it.
"Mom likes ducks," Oliver explained simply.ย
The backyard had a wide swimming pool surrounded by greenery and a lounging area like they were in a resort.
The mansion itself was a structure to behold. It had columns and archways like a medieval castle. Expansive windows revealed the place's interior, revealing the expensive pieces of furniture inside.
"Let's go inside," Oliver said, ordering rather than offering.
He didn't even wait for her as he climbed the steps toward their twin doors, Olivia following suit behind him.
As he opened the wooden door, Olivia half-expected a group of maids to curtsy at them. Instead, they were greeted by air.
"What's with the disappointed look?" Oliver raised an eyebrow, clearly offended at the thought that his 'house' wasn't to Olivia's liking.
"No, I just thought there would be maids..." She embarrassedly said. "Like, in uniform--"
"We ๐ฅ๐ฐ have maids," Oliver clarified. "But they're not wearing uniforms. Who does that nowadays?"
Olivia shrugged.
"I have no idea how rich people's minds work, so I wouldn't know, Oliver."
Oliver rolled his eyes but didn't say anything.ย
Inside the mansion were priceless artwork and designer furniture. Meanwhile, crystal chandeliers hung in the hallway, while marble floors were so white Olivia was afraid to walk on them.
"It's just a f*cking floor, Olivia." Oliver groaned. "Stop tip-toeing!"
"But it's white!"
Okay, Olivia was lying. She ๐ฎ๐ช๐จ๐ฉ๐ต be a little ignorant of these kinds of luxuries, noticeably so. She knew Oliver was judging her, but can you blame her?!
"Oliver!" A gentle voice called out, causing Oliver to freeze.
Mechanically, he turned to face the voice's origin, only for his features to contort to a scowl as soon as he confirmed who it was.
Meanwhile, Olivia couldn't help but stare at the most beautiful woman she had ever seen before them, standing at the top of the stairs.ย
Her long blonde hair cascaded loosely on her shoulders, while her blue eyes were hooded by thick, long lashes (Yes, it was ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต noticeable that Olivia saw it from a staircase away). She wore a hot pink night robe that reached her ankles, barely showing her fluffy bedroom slippers that matched her robe.ย
"Oliver!" She repeated in a sweet voice that didn't match her sensual appearance as she slowly descended the steps. "Have you been eating well? You look thinner compared to the last time I last saw you."
"You would know the answer to that if you ate with us," Oliver spat the next word with intense menace that it barely registered in Olivia's mind. "Mom."
"๐๐ฐ๐ฎ?" Olivia echoed, completely dumbfounded.ย
"Oh?" Mom exclaimed as she finally reached the end of the steps, standing directly in front of Olivia. "Who do we have here?"
And ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฏ was she tall!
She was probably 5'10.5" (1.79m for those who use the metric system). Olivia also noticed that this version of Mom had the thinnest waist Olivia had ever seen. In fact, she was generally thin but not to the point of looking like skin and bones.ย
Mom suddenly wrapped her arms around Olivia in a tight embrace. She smelled like vanilla, and her hug was warm and comforting. As Mom pulled away, Olivia managed to scrutinize her face in the briefest moment and saw that she had the vaguest resemblance to ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ Mom.
No matter how far it was.ย
"I'm Lyn," Her mother of this universe introduced. "You must be Oliver's girlfriend?"
"No!" The two of them spluttered at the same.ย
"I mean," Olivia cleared her throat while Oliver embarrassedly turned away from the two women. "No, Ma'am. I'm just... One of his classmates."
"Oh, I apologize." She chuckled. "This is the first time I saw him bring a girl home, so I assumed I--"
"I always bring a girl home." Oliver corrected. "And just because I bring them here doesn't mean they're my GF."
ย "That's not something you should be proud of, Oliver." Mom pointed out. "But anyway, this is the first time I met one of them."
"I wouldn't have let you meet her in normal circumstances, anyway," Oliver grumbled. "In fact, you wouldn't have met her in the first place if you didn't leave your room." He pointed at a room upstairs. "Go to your room, Mom."
"I'm not a child, Oliver." Mom frowned, clearly not appreciating Oliver ordering her around.
She then turned her attention back to Olivia and winked.
"Nice meeting you, Miss..." She paused. "Sorry, I haven't asked your name, have I?"
'๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ด ๐ง๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ด ๐ญ๐ช๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ซ๐ข ๐ท๐ถ,' Olivia thought.
"You can call me Olivia," Olivia replied with a smile.
"Olivia...?" Mom pressed, waiting for Olivia to give her last name.
"Just Olivia," Oliver interrupted. "You know, like, Beyonce."
"Oh, also like Adele!" And out of nowhere, Mom started singing. "I've heard..."
"Miss Lyn!" A couple of women, whom Olivia assumed were workers of the house, barged inside the room. "There you are! You haven't drank your meds yet!"
"Why did you let Mom get out?!" Oliver shouted, causing all of them to go rigid. "Dad isn't paying you for nothing, you know!"
"W-we're sorry, Sir Oliver." One of them lowered their heads, while the other surrounded Mom and grabbed her arms. "We promised not to repeat the same mistake again."
"You better," Oliver huffed as they dragged Mom away to another room. Meanwhile, Mom was still singing Adele's song and giggling as they did so.
Once they were all gone, Oliver looked at Olivia and cleared his throat.
"Sorry about that," He lowered his head in embarrassment. "You shouldn't have seen Mom on your first day here."
"W-w-what's wrong with Mom?" Olivia stammered, feeling concerned and creeped out at what she had just witnessed.
Oliver pursed his lips and spun his heels.
"Let's talk about it later."
