Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Kaylee left home early in the next morning so she could visit the veterinary clinic before going to the restaurant. She held the puppy in her warm embrace, striding on the street while searching for a veterinary clinic nearby.

Walking further for up to three minutes, Kaylee found one and hurriedly entered inside. After exchanging pleasantries with the vet, Kaylee gave the puppy to the vet doctor who started examining the puppy.

Kaylee could only feel the pain of the crying puppy but she couldn't share its pain while she watched the puppy going through pain as the vet did his work on the puppy's wounded leg.

After a long time, the vet raised a gaze at Kaylee. "It's just a minor bone fracture. Luckily you noticed it early and brought the puppy here, or else it might cause great discomfort and open fracture."

Kaylee looked curious. "So what caused the puppy to have a bone fracture?"

The vet looked at the treated injury again before answering. "I think the puppy got hit with something hard like a rock."

Upon hearing what the vet had to say, Kaylee was understandably upset. Looking down at the poor puppy, she couldn't help but feel heartbroken. It appeared as though the poor thing hadn't had a proper meal in days. Kaylee speculated that perhaps the puppy was roaming the streets in search of sustenance when it was struck by someone who didn't seem to care.

"Are you its owner?" The vet questioned, looking at the young lady who seemed very concerned as her eyes filled with sympathy for the puppy.

"No, I'm not its owner. I found the puppy last night on the street so I thought about bringing it here so it could get treated." Kaylee answered softly with her eyes fixed on the vet.

"You did a great job for that. Not everyone can do something like this." The Vet paused and then suggested. "I think you have to leave the puppy behind while it recovers here in a month. It won't be a good idea to return it to the street in such condition."

Kaylee was in haste to agree with the vet but when she heard the puppy wail softly again its sad eyes were looking at her as if it wanted her protection as Kaylee was motionless.

She wanted to leave it behind and had no fears that the puppy would find its home soon since it looked adorable but she remembered what Ellie said to her before leaving, 'Mama if the owner doesn't come for it then can I keep it, please? I want to keep the puppy'

Kaylee pondered for a while. "Would you mind finding a new home for the puppy if the owner doesn't eventually come for it after a few days?"

"Yes I will but when it has recovered already. These days no one wants a stray skinny puppy. A good home makes one healthy but, sadly, most pets don't have one." The vet answered friendly.

Kaylee nodded in agreement with what the vet said.

She glanced at the puppy and then said. "Thank you, Vet."

"You're welcome Ms. I should be the one thanking you for your. Actually, people like you are rare."

Kaylee couldn't help but chuckle softly at the flatter of the vet which had her cheeks flushed red a little but the vet didn't notice her flushed cheeks.

"If we don't help those that need our help when we are capable of it then what would be our reward for not helping?" Her lips pursed, staring at the puppy. "Many people out there in the world are just like this puppy."

When Kaylee remembered that she had a work to attend. "I shall take my leave now."

The vet smiled slightly at Kaylee as Kaylee smiled back. She adjusted her handbag handle on her shoulder before leaving the clinic finally.

_________

As the bus cruised along the busy streets, Kaylee sat comfortably by the window, admiring the bustling cityscape that loomed over her. She had her earpieces on, lost in the enchanting melodies of her favorite music.

It was a long mile when the bus held its brake. Kaylee pulled off the earpiece when she realized that she was at her bus stop.

She was the first passenger about to step out of the bus. As she tried to step out of the bus, she heard thrilling screams behind her.

"Oh my god! I-is t-that not Bryant!"

"That's Bryant!"

"Oh my god that's Bryant!"

The universe seemed to pause for a second in Kaylee's eyes when her gaze fixated on the handsome mortal standing just four steps away from her.

His short hair was neatly brushed, with one side combed to the back and the other brushed to the side, leaving a single strand of hair that gracefully fell across the side of his face, almost hiding his thick, expressive eyebrows. His face had no slightest spot left on it, small almond eyes, bridge nose and thin rose red lips.

She couldn't help but admire his striking features and the way his clothes hugged his lean physique. However, her moment of admiration was abruptly interrupted by a sudden commotion behind her.

Her eyes went wide open and her jaw hung down with spread arms in the air when she noticed herself out of the bus.

As Kaylee was pushed behind by others, she stumbled, falling parallel to the young man as she hoped to get caught in his arms and not fall on the hard ground. Falling with fear in her eyes and an agitated heart, the young man noticed the figure was falling towards him.

"Ohh no!"

Kaylee's hope was shattered when she found herself flat on the ground.

The crowd was young ladies who were clicking photos of the young man endlessly while they fastened their steps out of the bus, rushing to the young man as if they had just seen their idol.

"My goodness! Bryant!"

"It's our Sugar plum!"

"He's still handsome! Gosh!" The young ladies screamed crazily in excitement.

Just as the young ladies were almost close to the young man called Bryant, everything around seemed to pause for a second. The crazy young ladies froze and then in a wink of an eye things resumed back to normal.

"Where is he?"

"I thought we saw him here?"

"Isn't Bryant we saw?" The young ladies didn't stop murmuring in confusion among themselves.

Others were doubtful about the young man they just saw right here but he disappeared in a wink of an eye. However, their doubt was cleared when they saw his photo on their cell phones.

Just in a span of murmuring and confusion, the crowd slowly dissipated as everyone went to the various destinations, not minding the other person still on the ground.

On the other side, Kaylee was still lying flat on the ground while she fell on her stomach.

Kaylee struggled to get up alone. "Ouch! It hurts," Kaylee grunts softly.

"What's wrong with them? They almost got rid of my ribs." Kaylee mumbled.

She ran her hands carefully on her stomach at the ribcage to check if her ribs were still intact since she crashed on the ground with her stomach.

Her scorched eyes around and she didn't find a single soul of the crazy crowd again.

As her eyes were searching around, it went in the direction of the moving bus where she was pushed out. Her eyes narrowed tightly, seeing the young man who didn't mind saving her earlier was inside that bus.

After a long time glaring at the young man inside the bus, Kaylee finally glanced away from the moving bus. She lowered her eyes to the ground and found nothing on the floor that belonged to her.

"What a strange day," Kaylee muttered still feeling slight pains on her stomach.

Kaylee moved away from her spot while she goes further in the street until she got to the restaurant.

...

On the other side, Peter Frampton had a slight frown on his face staring secretly at the back figure of his Boss who stood in front of the smart glass window, looking down at the bustling street from the fifth floor.

It had been five minutes since he walked into the room but yet his Boss hadn't said anything and it upset Peter but he didn't dare to leak his emotions.

Peter was so busy enjoying his meal from a five-star restaurant in his office when he received a call from his Boss as he rushed over to the resort.

He couldn't stop thinking about the delicious delicacy with a bitter mind that was waiting for him to come and consume but before then it would turn cold and wouldn't be enjoyable.

Peter never expected his Boss to be back in two days since he told him that he would return in a few days. And Peter could have pick him up from the airport but he didn't get any bit of information of his Boss return today.

Surely this young man is unpredictabl, Peter thought.

"What's the meaning of this? How come I was almost crowded today?" The husky calm voice questioned as it sounded frosty.

Peter raised a gaze and his eyes fell on the young man's cellphone which was placed on the table next to him.

Peter looked at the video content carefully before answering. "BT entertainment industry has a new movie to be film in a month time but before then there need to make a teaser first so you are-"

Peter was cut off from completing his sentence when he heard the heavy snort that escaped from the young man's nostril.

Now Peter appeared to know the sudden return of his Boss from Hong Kong after board meeting.
