That is the song I hear when I wake up. I loved the song when the movie was released. I remember watching it with my cousins and Rosemary. When the screen illuminated and the perfectly synergized performance was presented on screen, I forgot what my life was like. I wanted to dance with the dancers on screen wearing colourful dresses and vibrant smiles, waiting for another day of sun.
Once I returned home, I was forced back to the reality. In that reality stood an old mansion, a deranged and dysfunctional family, and a family matriarch who dictated every decision. Since then, this song has become the tune of something that I cannot have.
