Chapter 16 - Mr Lombard is married.

"I'm going to lock my car door. Please wait for me," Sam said as he walked towards his car with an umbrella in his hand.

After a while, Sam opened the front passenger's door of the car and got in quickly.

"Just leave the car here. You don't have to worry about it. Maybe someone will come and tow the car tomorrow."

"San, your driving skills are getting worse by the day. How could you drive your car into the mud pit on this kind of road?" Dexter asked sarcastically as soon as he started the car.

Sam didn't want to argue with his cousin right now. How could he speak without thinking? What did Dexter mean by saying that he was bad at

driving?

"Everyone could make mistakes, Dexter. Don't be too proud." Sam blurted out cruelly. "How's Miley? Did anything happen to her?" Sam added.

Since Sam kept asking about Miley, Dexter. He felt uncomfortable. It was weird for a man to be so concerned about someone else's wife.

"Dexter, can't you hear me? I'm asking you," Sam anxiously called out when he noticed that Dexter wasn't answering his questions.

It was normal for Dexter to act arrogantly. He would only answer questions he liked to answer. Otherwise, he would ignore it.

"Sam, I can see you. Don't take this as an opportunity just because Miley was a little open to you." Dexter snapped.

"What's so good about a man who left his wife in the middle of the road?" Sam raised his voice.

"If you're going to take that tone with me, Sam, you can get out of the car," Dexter warned.

Although Sam was also furious, he was trying to control his temper. "That's fine with me. Stop the car, Dexter."

Immediately, Dexter stepped on the brakes and pulled over. The moment the vehicle stopped. Sam opened the car door and got out. Then, his cold eyes glared directly at Dexter.

The moment Sam stepped out of the car, Dexter revived the engine. As the car drove away. mud splattered on Sam's clothes.

"Bloody hell! You're a jerk, Sam!"

Sam shouted as Dexter's car drove away. His dirty clothes looked terrible.

----

After days Miley went back to work. She went to the office wearing a light grey professional suit—a tight-fitting skirt with a pair of eight-centimetre stiletto heels. The entire get-up made her legs look long and slender and perfectly encapsulated her beauty.

After knocking on the door, Miley entered the office. Standing in front of the desk, she asked, "Ms. Hudson, I'm familiar with the workflow now. Is there any important task for me to do?" Jenny smiled in response.

"You just came back from vacation. There's no need to get back to work in such a hurry." Previously, Peter talked to Jenny in private as he wanted to apply for leave for Miley.

"You should get back to work." Miley quickly left the office after accepting the documents.

"Miley, send this document to the Director's office," Jenny ordered.

After finishing her task at hand, Miley left her seat with the document.

Passing by the simple corridor, Miley arrived at the Director's office. Then, she knocked on the door.

"Come in." A low voice came from the other side of the door.

The moment Miley pushed the door open, she looked up at the man sitting behind the mahogany desk. Dexter was wearing a grey suit with a tie. He looked very stern.

A slight frown appeared on his handsome, chiselled face. He exuded a solemn aura.

After entering the office, Miley placed the document on the table. She said politely, "Mr. Lombard This is the document you asked for."

Without looking at the document, his gaze fell on her. He could see Miley from head to toe due to the short desk. Furthermore, she stood at a distance away from the desk. He took this moment to study her small and fair-skinned face. There were still a few scars here and there. Fortunately, there was nothing too serious, or her beauty would be tarnished.

"Follow me back to the Lombard residence for dinner."

"Okay," she agreed. "I'll wait for you in the underground parking lot as soon as I get off work."

In the afternoon, she went to a restaurant with a few female colleagues for lunch. Soon, the topic of their conversation shifted to Dexter as they chatted.

"Remember when I told you guys that Mr. Lombard is married, but none of you believed me then? Well, see for yourself."

"Mr Lombard is wearing a wedding ring. But who is the person he married to? Why didn't the public get any news about this?" one of the colleagues asked curiously. She even made an assumption.

"Did he get back with his first love?"

"Oh, I heard Mr. Lombard's first love is Mr. Samuel's ex-wife."

"Are you sure?"

Stunned, the female colleagues drew a sharp breath after hearing such breaking news. The colleague who gave the gossip then shook her hand. "I heard that from someone. But, wealthy families are always a mess. So, I wouldn't be surprised if it's true."
