Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Snowlight and Moonlight, with You

Chen Yin was momentarily stunned.

Luo Qiaoqiao was leaning languidly and seductively against him, her chin resting on his shoulder, her gaze intense as it held him.

After a brief hesitation, he gave her a slow smile.

"Sister, please don't joke with me like that. I'm afraid I might really fall for you."

"Would that be so bad? Don't you like me?"

"Well… it's not about whether I like you or not."

He shrugged. "There are so many who like you. No matter how much I want to be at the front of the line, that's not possible for me."

"Why set yourself up to get hurt by wanting something you know you can't have?"

Luo Qiaoqiao pursed her lips, then whispered sweetly in his ear:

"Coward."

Chen Yin closed his eyes involuntarily.

This woman was dangerous—her very presence radiated a deadly allure, as if she could drain a man's soul dry.

The way she leaned in close to whisper by his ear reminded him of an enchanting, soul-stealing siren.

After a long silence, he murmured, "I don't think Sister realizes the power of her charm."

"Has anyone ever told you that tempting a man like this could be… dangerous?"

"No," she replied, her smile full of playful amusement. "Because I've never tried to tempt a man before."

"…You're the first," she whispered, leaning close to his ear again.

Chen Yin studied her for a moment, then replied seriously, "Sister, you're drunk."

"Maybe," she replied, dismissively flicking her hair and propping herself up to continue watching him.

"But aren't people the truest version of themselves when they're drunk?"

Like you said.

When we met, there was a rainstorm. If I held your hand across the veil of rain, then there would be no need to pretend.

"I might be drunk, but I know exactly what I'm doing," she said and took another long drink from her jar.

Chen Yin was rendered speechless.

He suddenly realized a serious problem.

At first, when he saw Luo Qiaoqiao drinking alone in solitude, he'd assumed she was just troubled and needed company. He thought he could cheer her up with a bit of conversation and drinking, and then she'd be on her way.

Like those lonely girls he had seen in bars before he was reincarnated, who drank away their troubles.

But this world was not his old one. And the Luo Shang Fairy was definitely not the kind of girl who needed to let loose at a bar.

She didn't have the calculated emotional moves of those girls, nor was she interested in men fawning over her to boost her ego.

She must truly be… lonely.

And if she actually opened her heart, it might be impossible to stop.

—But he hadn't come here tonight to flirt.

He had just come to bring back wine for his master.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked, noticing how quiet he had become. She took a long swig and wrapped one arm around his neck.

"Why doesn't Sister guess what I'm thinking?"

"I think…" she smirked mischievously. "You want to kiss me."

"With a face as beautiful as yours, and lips that tempting, who wouldn't want to taste them?"

"Then… would you like to try?"

Luo Qiaoqiao's gaze turned bold and heated as she leaned in, licking her lips with a sultry flick of her tongue.

No man could keep his wits when faced with such a move.

Almost as if enchanted, Chen Yin allowed her to draw closer, her soft breaths warming his skin, her scent enveloping him.

She didn't stop, closing the distance until her long lashes nearly brushed his cheek.

But to her disappointment, Chen Yin's expression remained unchanged.

He still wore that faint, bittersweet, helpless smile. His gaze was still clear, unaffected.

She felt a stab of annoyance.

"I've never been this close to any man before," she said, shifting to straddle him, her arms wrapped around his neck. "Is it because I'm not attractive enough?"

"Please, Sister, don't joke with me. I'm already holding back as best I can."

Chen Yin chuckled, shaking his head. "Just… please don't tease me anymore. I don't want to wake up tomorrow and find out you've cut me into pieces."

"Are you afraid?" she lifted her chin haughtily.

"I'm not afraid. I just believe that someone as beautiful as you deserves better than me. I'm not worthy of you."

A sudden, inexplicable wave of disappointment washed over Luo Qiaoqiao. She let go and moved to sit to the side, reaching for another jar and drinking with a brooding look.

"Are you upset?"

"No." She turned her head stubbornly, pouting as if in defiance.

Chen Yin hesitated. Since they were nearly out of wine anyway and he'd likely be scolded by his master, he might as well drink freely.

So, he grabbed a jar and poured the wine back with abandon.

"I don't know how to make you happy. So I'll just drink with you."

"But I want you to cheer me up."

She turned back toward him suddenly, her eyes red-rimmed, a hint of hurt in her gaze as she stared at him, a mix of stubbornness and sadness in her tone.

"Cheer me up," she insisted, her voice like that of a lost child, yet still unyielding.

Chen Yin thought for a moment, then moved closer, slipping an arm around her shoulders and gently pulling her into his embrace.

Then, he softly kissed her on the forehead.

In that instant, her face turned bright red, her breathing quickened.

Flustered, she pushed him away, her gaze darting around, refusing to meet his eyes.

"See?"

Chen Yin spread his hands, a little helplessly. "Sister, you're just acting on a drunken impulse. You're not actually ready for this."

"If just now I'd kissed your lips instead of your forehead, you'd probably regret it to death once you sobered up."

Ignoring the hurt and vulnerability flickering in Luo Qiaoqiao's gaze, he stood up and dusted off his clothes.

"Well, it's getting late. Sister, you've had quite a bit to drink tonight. Best you head back to rest."

"I should also be going—"

"You're not going anywhere!" Luo Qiaoqiao suddenly rose, her eyes glistening as she looked at him.

Chen Yin turned back in silence.

"You're wrong. I am ready."

In the next instant, an invisible ribbon of spiritual energy wrapped around Chen Yin, yanking him directly back in front of Luo Qiaoqiao.

He was startled to find himself facing her, her eyes full of defiance and a touch of stubborn resolve.

"…It's not that I wasn't ready," she said, lifting her chin proudly. "It's that I like to make the first move myself."

A moment later, her soft, warm lips pressed against his. Chen Yin's eyes widened in shock.

The moonlight seemed to sway around them, as if they were adrift in gentle, undulating waves, tinged with a hint of ocean breeze.

It felt like the kiss lasted a lifetime.

When their lips finally parted, Luo Qiaoqiao stepped back slightly, her face still flushed, her heart racing.

Chen Yin couldn't help but touch his lips, his emotions in a turmoil.

—That was his first kiss!

Even if he counted his previous life on Earth, he'd been a solo nerd in his twenties, never once having kissed a girl.

This was his first time experiencing what a girl's lips felt like.

And to be honest, it was… rather addictive.

Soft, sweet. Something he couldn't help but want more of.

"Sister, I…" Chen Yin looked at her with an innocent, almost pitiful expression.

Luo Qiaoqiao, meanwhile, suppressed her own nervous excitement and, acting as if nothing had happened, asked casually, "Well? How did it feel?"

"Were Sister's lips… comfortable?"

"Can you… not be so blunt?"

She looked pleased with herself, like a child who'd just pulled off a successful prank, then rested one elbow on his chest, her red sleeves fluttering around her.

"That was my first kiss, you know. You're lucky to have it."

"So, you'd better take responsibility."

Chen Yin sighed, "You really are drunk."

"By tomorrow morning, you're really going to regret this."

"I won't regret it!" Her voice grew more intense.

Her eyes were red-rimmed, and her face held a mix of hurt and determination. "I'm not some frivolous woman, Chen Yin."

"Do you really think I would do something like this with just anyone?"

Chen Yin stayed silent, simply watching her.

She seemed to sense the unspoken question in his gaze. Her lips pressed into a pout, as if she'd been hurt by his doubt.

"You don't believe me, do you? Fine," she said.

"There's a room downstairs. Come with me."

This time, Chen Yin was genuinely stunned.

"Wait, wait—Sister, think this over!"

He tried his best to reason with her. "Sister, you're really drunk right now. There's no need to put yourself through this."

"If you've truly fallen for me, why don't we exchange contacts and talk once you've sobered up?"

"No." She clutched his hand, stubbornly. "What if you just run off and leave me?"

That's exactly what I was planning, Chen Yin thought grimly.

But honestly, even if he had the courage, he'd never dare to go any further with someone as renowned as the Luo Shang Fairy. That would be like courting disaster, akin to messing around with his Senior Sister Shen Shuanglian. It would be catastrophic.

Right now, he needed to focus on preparing for his little junior sister Xiang'er. There was no time to invite such romantic complications.

And if anyone found out he'd even touched the Luo Shang Fairy, not only would the Tianluo sect disciples want his head, but Luo Shang's countless suitors in the cultivation world would make his life a living hell.

But for now, the most pressing question was… how was he supposed to escape?

He was bound securely by an invisible ribbon of spiritual energy. Luo Qiaoqiao's cultivation level far surpassed his own; if she didn't let go, he had no hope of breaking free.

Chen Yin didn't want to use any of his three sword techniques on her, as those were meant for life-or-death situations, and besides, he had no sword to use.

So, like a helpless kitten, he could only let Luo Qiaoqiao drag him to a room on the top floor of the inn.

The moment they stepped inside, she immediately began to unfasten her clothing, causing Chen Yin to cry out in alarm.

"Wait!"

Luo Qiaoqiao looked back at him, and Chen Yin gave a sheepish smile.

"Well… if we're going to enjoy the beauty of the moment, shouldn't we go all out?"

"I noticed Sister didn't get to drink her fill earlier. How about we have another round together, and then make a night of it?"

Luo Qiaoqiao hesitated, but then a beautiful, mischievous smile spread across her face.

"Fine. I'll drink with you."

"But little brother," she warned with a sweet smile, "don't even think about trying anything sneaky."

"I'm not letting you out of my sight."

"Tonight, no matter what, you're staying right here with me."

Chen Yin forced a polite smile, but his back was already soaked in a cold sweat.
