Damon's face softened a bit, he fell silent, and the atmosphere in the room seemed to suffocate with his silence.
I kept silent too. Everything was out in the open now, and there was nothing more to say.
Finally, Damon got up and said, "Don't have anything to do with her. Don't investigate her, don't get close to her, and pretend nothing else happened."
"How could I pretend nothing happened?" I retorted. My tone had cooled, indifference filled my eyes as I looked at Damon. "What do you take me for? A fool or a madman? Even the things that have hurt me, I should pretend they didn't happen. Do you think that's possible?"
