After a moment of silence on the other end, an uncomfortable voice said, "Mr. Coleman was calling your name. I don't think Ariel showing up would do any good."
That statement hit me like a ton of bricks. My mood, which had been gloomy as hell, seemed to lift a bit.
Unbelievable. I was so easily pacified. His assistant said one sentence, and my mood lightened.
"You're overthinking. I have nothing to do with him now. Ariel is his girlfriend; you should go find her and not bother me." Although I felt better, I still spoke sharply.
The assistant continued pleading awkwardly, "Ms. Brooks, please come over. If not, Mr. Coleman is going to spend the night at the bar, and it's going to be a mess."
"Nope." I replied.
Suddenly, there was a scream on the other end, "Mr. Coleman!"
My heart jumped, and then there was a loud crashing noise, even drowning out the background music.
