During a few minutes of walking, the grandma that he has surprisingly become quite fond of introduced herself as the Sect Leader of the Moon Sect which he thought was ridiculous but he couldn't deny that it could be possible. He had asked her why she was even here at the recruitment tents when the sect was in the mountains.
She told him that she wanted to see the potential that her new pupils might have and so far she had been surprised and disappointed at the same time. Surprised because she stumbled upon him, and disappointed because even though the average of Mana Points was 150 and it takes over 130 pts to get into the sect, some people were cutting it too close to not getting in.
But despite that, he found out that it was also possible for them, him included, to gain more Mana reserve and Points by meditating and training. It sounds easy but it is quite hard for others to concentrate long enough for them to gain at least one point higher, but with enough practice, they will get better at meditating and will eventually be able to gain more points every time they meditate.
You can expand your mana reserve by training with spells or magic. Although Haise feels like Mana Reservation is kind of like Mana Points then again not exactly. He was slightly confused by that bit but he decided not to dwell too much on it. The sect leader brought him to an open area which seemed to be a training ground for what he thought was for the fighters.
The sect leader mentioned that despite these training grounds only being used for the fighters, others, including mages, are also allowed to be here, but they have to either be here to hone their skills in fighting or training. Most of the time you don't ever usually catch a mage being here because they just know how to cast spells but not know how to fight in hand-to-hand combat or fight in general.
Despite walking with the sect leader he still voiced his thoughts truthfully. He thought it was quite dumb of them not to know how to fight just because they could rely on their mana and magic alone, which surprised the sect leader, who also expressed her thoughts on the matter. Although she is the sect leader, she does not necessarily have the authority to force anyone to learn how to fight. Even so, she needs to make sure that her recruits are given the option of learning how to fight and using their magic effectively.
His response was that it was perfect because no matter how powerful your magic and mana may be, you're still going to have to fight close combat sometimes and you won't be able to fully depend on your magic and mana alone, but if needed, they'll always be there. In addition to fighting in close combat, you must also learn how to use magic.
The sect leader was surprised by his words but she agreed with him and even asked if he could fight in close combat. He answered her truthfully. Once she got his answer, she asked why he chose to become a mage instead of a fighter.
He told her that it was because he had enough training to be a veteran and that he was okay with his skills as a fighter, so he thought why not try using magic? The sect leader then asked him if he practiced his skills during his free time.
He chuckled and nodded his head at her, "Yes, I do practice in my free time, I gotta make sure I don't get rusty"
The sect leader nodded her head and without knowing it, they stopped in front of a desk,
"Hello, what can I do for you?" The guy behind the desk turned around and his eyes went wide before he quickly bowed,
"Hello sect leader!" he stammered out to which the old lady chuckled,
"Hello to you too Carner"
The now-named man straightened up and returned the smile before looking at Haise.
"Now, what do you need?" He asked.
"I need a starter bag please," Haise responded.
The guy nodded, reached a hand under the table, and set a bag on top, "That'll be 20 black coins"
Haise nodded and handed him the coins and he was given his new bag with his materials.
"Thank you," Haise says, and Carner just smiles and nods his head.
The sect leader then showed him around. It was the canteen that she showed him as well as the quarters where everyone would be staying. Now the two of them are about to part ways.
"Now, remember, everyone leaves in two days. Make sure to also look over your materials that are in your bag, and make sure that if you have any questions and can't find me, look for someone named Kiana, she will help you" the sect leader explained.
"I will, thank you for all the help sect leader," He said with a little of a head bow which made her chuckle.
"It is quite alright, I don't mind helping once in a while, but please, call me grandma outside of serious business"
She chuckled again before ending with a smirk and walking off with a wave.
Haise smiles as he waves back, even though she can't see it, he knows she knows he is waving.
Haise double-checks that he has done everything. He did his enrollment paper and gave grandma the 10 black coins and even got shown around, and he got a room now which is nice, and he got his materials he is gonna have to look over in his free time and even paid the fee that came with it.
So, the only thing he has to do is, go over the materials and then, if need be, ask questions and then wait till they go to the sect. With that all sorted out he leaves out a door that leads to the huge and long training area. He decides that he should see how this new body is with him fighting.
He looks around for the weapons and finds them to be located on a table in a corner. He quickly goes over to them and picks up the daggers first. He gets into a fighting stance and quickly does a few basic moves. He frowned at how they felt. It wasn't that difficult but it wasn't easy either.
He frowned even deeper and was quite disappointed in the previous owner of this body he was in. He worked with a few more weapons to see what he needed to work most on.
This body isn't that flexible or strong and neither does it have good stamina, but thankfully it shouldn't take him long to fix that. He puts the weapons away and leaves to go to his room which is modern yet basic. Just like the clothes he was wearing.
It had a nice one-room feel and it also had a nice bathroom. The room had a milky tan color to it but it also had accents of white. It wasn't bad and the bed felt amazing. This world he was in had clothes that were his style, and the rooms felt like they were somewhere between a basic and above basic hotel room. It's hard to explain.
Haise sat down on the bed and took out the materials that the sect leader told him to look over. It consisted of many books. One was about the surrounding forest around the Moon Sect which he guesses is important to know, and another one gives information on herbs and alchemy, another gives information on what Mana is and how to use it to make spells, which he will look over.
The last one looks lengthy and thick, and surprisingly it gives information about the surrounding continents and cities. He deems this to be the first book he will read first before he starts on the other three because he is sure that this book will answer his questions about the world and how it works if he were to continue to stay in Izzaiah and travel. And until that time comes, all he can do now is research and learn.
