I watched as the light faded from Adrian's blue eyes his blonde hair tinged red with his own blood we had won against the giant wolf but at a massive cost.
It all started in my anatomy class at university an alarm sounded and a screen displaying your class and level appeared infront of everyone's eyes.
In three months that class of 60 became a class of 1 and now I am alone with no one I can trust and no one I can talk to I am completely and utterly alone.
I dug Adrian a grave, from the first moments of the apocalypse we had worked together to survive whether it was our more unstable classmates or one of these horrible monsters we stuck together.
I sat down after burying him and thought back on everyone I had lost my friends, my acquaintances and enemies strangely enough I even missed my f-ed up parents.
Feeling my eyes begin to water I opened up my status screen.
{Name Julio Merryman:
Exp: 90/300
Class: light bringer
Class skills: Hope lvl 3
Level: 3
Body grade: H+
Special skills: 0}
It hasn't changed very much at all I decided to check my class for the thousandth time.
{Light bringer: you bring light to the darkness you are a beacon of hope, the spark to a flame and the truth in the lies. as a light bringer you can get skills to protect, enhance, heal and guide yourself, others and the area around you}
Classes gave people a single skill and it seems that classes were given based on personality the light bringer class isn't that common.
In my class there was 10 knights, 19 mystics, 6 shield bearers, 5 priests, 4 witches, 1 murderer, 5 thieves, 4 scouts, 2 bards, 1 assassin, 1 leader and 2 light bringers including me.
It seems that there are many classes probably far more than the variety in my class the most common being knights and mystics.
Also other than the fact that I am completely alone I am also now unable to gain experience more than 1 a day.
Everyone gets 1 experience point a day or 1 XP for short but to get more than that we have to do things that align with our class.
Thieves steal or hide, scouts need to scout, etc. so for me I have to guide, protect, and bring light to those who need it.
Needless to say doing that without others is incredibly difficult it is hard even under normal circumstances but now even moreso.
I walked back to the place I've called home for the most part of the last three months it is an old shed on the outskirts of the university campus.
It was used to store vehicles for the mechanic and engineering classes and now it is as empty as when we first found it.
In the first month the most people died 30 in total mostly to other humans 10 specifically to the murderer in our group.
In the second month we got into a groove at least 1 person died every day or two and by the beginning of the third month only five of us remained.
Then that damned wolf came about picking the few of us remaining off one by one until we killed it at the cost of Adrian's life.
I sat down on my makeshift bed and spoke to myself.
"8 878 87678 8765678 876545678 87654345678 8765432345678 876543212345678 87654321"
It really didn't matter what I say the effect is all the same it makes me feel better as if the world still loves me and makes me thankful for what I have which right now is my life and the skill that is doing all of this.
{Hope lvl 3: your visage and voice give those that can hear or see you a clarity and influences them to think more positively instilling a feeling of hope. the effect raises with the level, this ability is passive but you can disable it either entirely or for certain people for a desired amount of time.}
Most of the time this ability is completely and utterly useless but in these moments it is the only thing that keeps me going.
After calming down and thought as hard as I could thinking of all my options and then it came to me.
I know what I need to do now, I started packing my bag there is no use sitting here waiting to die in this empty shed all alone.
A bottle of rain water, a picture of the last five people taken on an old school camera by an art student, my spare clothes some of which I've borrowed from my departed classmates.
I grab the last item of importance before heading out a metal pole I found in the shed prior to which I was using a chair leg to defend myself.
I don't know exactly where I'm going but I have a few ideas, the stadium is this city's emergency zone some people might still be there.
If that fails I can try schools and military bases until I find a place I can be of use and am allowed to stay.
I closed the shed door behind me and locked the door one final time and looking up out towards the direction of the stadium I see the city several broken down skyscrapers and city wide destruction that remains of the chaos that was the first day.
This was a new beginning my rebirth I would survive this apocalypse I will thrive in this new world whether for some grand purpose or simply living to live I will survive.
