Hori's lips curled upward when he saw his renewed stats. He turned towards the spider, about to dish out judgement from heaven when he saw one of the legs of the spider descending towards his head. He could've tried to dodge it, but he wouldn't have been fast enough. He could only watch as the leg…
Whoosh!
The leg bisected cleanly into two parts. Hori's eyes moved to his right and he saw Columbus wielding a sword.
"You seemed like you might need a bit of help". Columbus said. He looked at the spider and rushed towards it. He jumped at it and slashed downward.
A green colored liquid flew out of one of the spider's 'eyes' and rushed towards Columbus who was still in mid air. Hori opened his mouth to warn him but what happened next stunned him speechless.
He watched as Columbus's body twisted in mid air, narrowly dodging the toxic liquid that was rushing at him.
His sword plunged into the head of the spider. The sound of metal clashing against metal reverberated in the open space. Columbus had a look of mild surprise. His sword didn't kill the spider, the only effect that it had on the spider was the painful screech that escaped from it moments later.
He jumped off the head of the slider and landed in the middle of a bushy patch. He glanced at the spider and sighed.
Lightning god's lightning strike!
If it was considered strange that the clouds could turn darker than they already, then the clouds turning the shade of black that they headed towards would basically be impossible.
The sound of thunder echoed in the atmosphere. Columbus ran towards the spider, leaped and slashed at it.
A white blur escaped from the spinneret of the spider and flew towards him. Columbus once again dodged the web shot at him while his body was in mid air.
A lightning bolt escaped the confinement of the clouds and shot down at the spider who was too focused on Columbus to notice.
Another pain screecch sounded from the spider. It's body jerked violently as it tried its best not to capsize to the floor.
Columbus ran towards the spider and slashed at it again. The sound of metal hitting metal sounded soon after.
Hori's mouth was agape when he saw Columbus going toe to toe with the spider. If he was that strong then why did he ask him to help him fight the spider.
He glanced at the two girls who had retreated to a safe place, a few tens of meters away from the grunt of the fight.
Politeness be damned
"System?" Hori muttered. He was answered by the usual dinging sound. "I want to use observation on those two girls".

Hori's eyes twitched when he saw the stats of the two girls. He glanced at Columbus who was fighting the four legged spider. Judging from his strength he was most likely the bodyguard sent to protect the girls. But if he was strong enough to instantly take down the spider then how strong could he be.
The spider spat the green toxic liquid at Columbus. He jumped away and charged at the spider, his sword brushing against the leg of the spider.
Shadow wolf slash!
Hori tan towards the spider. His sword was outlined with a black mist like substance as he swung it at the spider.
The silhouette of a wolf outlined his body as his sword clashed with the head of the spider, seperating it from the rest of its body. A cascade of the greenish liquid rushed out of its body.

A magical beast's beast core was the main essence of its existence. That being said, the only reason why beast cores were important to mages was that they contained a huge amount of mana which would help them to increase their rank.
Beast cores could also be sold for a sum of money. Big families invest a lot in beast cores for their members.
