Chapter 17 - The Village Defense - Each with Their Own Plan

The man raised a concern. "And if we don't get enough food?"

Asura responds with confidence and a hint of cruelty.

He laughed, "Don't worry. With my power, defending won't be a problem. I can simply burn our enemies.

And if that's not enough, I've got a few Imagin interested in me."

"Also, pass the word around that whoever brings that Leslie girl to me will be handsomely rewarded."

The man, somewhat puzzled. "Why are you so obsessed with her? Sure, she's beautiful, but she has a boyfriend."

"Do you really want someone's 'used goods' that badly?"

Asura replied. "You're thinking too much with your dick. "

"Do you believe brawn is enough to rule this world?"

"I remember seeing her face in a magazine; she's one of those crazy smart. We need her brainpower."

The man nodded, his smile reflecting a mix of understanding and self-satisfaction. "Well, that's your focus, hehe..."

His attention then shifted to the woman on his lap, his words dripping with arrogance.

"I absolutely love this new world. Even your own brother sold you out, and you just accept it. Now I get to enjoy a rare virgin."

A muffled moan escaped from the woman, a sound of despair and resignation.

Faust, watching this scene, switched the camera view to another player, one following Braxton.

In the outskirts of the forest.

Numerous people were busily cutting and processing wood.

The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of saws.

The man who had been following Braxton approached him.

"Sir, most of the material is ready. Should we proceed with building the palisade wall?"

Braxton, assessing the situation, responded.

"Yes, let's get started. I'll create the foundation and dig a ditch around it. "

"Also, prepare wooden spikes. Since you're experienced with traps, do you have any other suggestions?"

The man replied. "I just doubt we have enough time to fully surround the village with our defenses."

Braxton looks at the countdown timer, calculating their progress.

"If you all can prepare enough wood, the palisade and spike traps should be ready in time. "

"As for more complex traps, we'll focus on building them in important areas. Has the scout returned yet?"

The man shook his head. "Not yet, but he should be back soon."

"However, I'm worried we will have enough people to man the walls."

Braxton replied with confidence.

"We have about 30 people here. If we station at least six people on each side of the wall, that should be enough. "

"Plus, we've made these crossbows for a reason."

The man, however, voiced another concern. "But what if the others don't cooperate?"

Braxton answer. "Aphelia will definitely cooperate. The real issue is Asura; he's too full of himself."

"But that doesn't matter right now. Have you prepared the traps as planned?"

The man nodded. "Yes, but are we really going to go through with this? "

"Using traps on our own people will reduce the number of defenders we have."

Braxton replied. "How have you survived this long with such naivety? "

"If they're not willing to help, they're dead weight. In this situation, they'll be more useful as points and experience."

The man responded. "Well, I've survived by contributing with my trap-building skills."

Braxton nods. "No wonder you've survived. Your skills are indeed useful."

"If we ever get out of here, you're welcome to join me."

Faust, observing the exchange through the camera, switched it off.

"This Braxton guy is quite interesting, much more level-headed. As for Asura, he's a ticking time bomb, destined to die."

Agony asked, "Don't you just want to kill all of them?"

Faust's eyes flickered, and a smirk played on his lips.

"Only those who deserve it. That includes the cowards and the foolish."

"Look at those women – why don't they seek out someone like Aphelia instead?"

"It's a miracle they've survived this long. They're probably just dead weight that someone else had to protect."

Agony, puzzled, "Then why do they go to Asura? He doesn't seem that strong."

Faust responded with a laugh. "That's just typical human mentality. People tend to follow those who boast the loudest."

"Asura shows off his fire abilities, and he promises survival to those who simply follow his orders."

"This is appealing to those who don't want to think for themselves."

"They prefer having someone else make decisions and lead, even if it means they follow blindly. "

Agony asked, "So, does their brain exist just for decoration?"

Faust replied, "That's why they'll be more useful to society by giving me their job cards."

After some time walking, Faust finally approached the village.

In his view, he could see that part of the wooden wall had already been completed, and Braxton, along with his group, was busy working on the gate.

Choosing to keep a low profile, Faust decided to simply walk past.

However, one of the men working on the gate stopped him.

"You just came back from hunting? Where's our share?"

Faust pulled a cart containing the tiger he had killed earlier.

He says with a polite smile.

"I'm sorry, but I need to report to Aphelia first. "

"This isn't actually my catch; it belongs to Nex and Leslie. I just brought it here so we can cut and share it quickly."

Braxton, overhearing the exchange, glanced at the man. "Let him go."

He then turned his attention to Faust. "Just make sure to send us our share."

Faust nodded, continuing to pull the cart into the village.

The sun was nearing the horizon, as only two hours remained before the wave began.

Upon reaching the gathering area, he spotted Billy, the old man, sitting there.

As Billy noticed Faust, he stood up and walked closer...

Faust asked. "So, have you found a base for us?"

Billy responded, pointing to a house near their current location.

"Yes. Aphelia decided we should set up near the gate. Do you need any help with that?"

Faust replied. "No need. You should wait here for Nex and Leslie."

Billy nodded. "Alright, bring it to Aphelia then. I'll stay here."
