Chapter 4 - Getting Out

Faust propelled himself upward through the murky waters when suddenly, a swift, sharpened tentacle sliced through, aiming directly at him.

Instinctively, Agony transformed into a sturdy shield, effectively deflecting the unforeseen assault.

Looking into the abyss below, Faust's eyes met those of a horrifying giant octopus.

An array of eyes were strewn wildly across its malformed body, gleaming malevolently in the watery darkness.

At its center, a horrific mouth throbbed and chomped, displaying an array of razor-sharp teeth.

The creature's menacing, muscular tentacles tipped with spear-like points.

Bizarrely, its suction cups had mutated into a combination of additional eyes and snarling mouths, each bristling with its own set of vicious teeth.

A smirk stretched across Faust's face as he faced the beast, curiosity flickering in his gaze.

Agony, following his unspoken command, began transforming into a gigantic hammer, poised to strike directly at the octopus's huge body.

However, as it descended, the octopus's tentacles swiftly entwined around it.

But Agony, adapting to the challenge, altered its form once more.

For every tentacle that sought to restrain it, it created a monstrous mouth, each with its own array of sharp teeth.

With ferocious vigor, these newly-formed mouths latched onto the entangling tentacles, tearing and gnashing at the monstrous limbs with savage hunger.

In a flurry of agitation, the octopus retracted its tentacles, some parts of which had already been devoured.

However, they rapidly regenerated, returning to their initial form.

Taking a lesson from its previous attack, the creature now maneuvered its tentacles more swiftly, avoiding the hammer and steering directly toward Faust.

But Faust remained unperturbed, as part of Agony transformed into multiple blades, effortlessly slicing through the advancing tentacles.

The severed flesh that now floated in the water began to twitch and contort independently, gradually reshaping itself into eel-like creatures, each with sharp, menacing teeth and jaws.

Faust observed them with keen interest, pondering, "Where does the material to create these creatures come from? Do the cells just continuously propagate?"

His eyes sharpened with curiosity. "It seems it doesn't utilize protein for this, but a new type of energy..."

In the midst of the underwater battle between Agony and the octopus, Faust carefully analyzed every aspect of the enormous creature.

His gaze eventually locked onto one peculiar eye. Unlike the others, this eye glinted with an eerie blue glow.

Without hesitation, Faust surged forward, seamlessly navigating through the tempest of thrashing tentacles.

Sensing the looming threat, the octopus expelled a dense cloud of red ink into the water.

However, this is useless against Faust, whose eyes effortlessly pierced through the murky veil.

He maintained a steadfast focus on his target, propelling himself forward like a human torpedo.

During the swift and unyielding pursuit, eel-like creatures, born from the severed flesh of the octopus, obstructed Faust's path, trying to hinder him.

But Agony, transforming into multiple blade arms, easily cleaved through them.

Faust finally reached his destination right in front of the colossal creature.

Transforming Agony into a big scalpel, Faust executed a precise incision through the odd eye.

The ocean vibrated as the creature unleashed a loud screech of agony, its pain echoing through the dark, watery abyss.

Part of the Agony held the Kraken at bay.

As Faust worked with deliberate care, the process stretched over several minutes.

The eye, as large as a full-grown adult, was spherically shaped and inside it, is a blue-glowing crystal.

Upon its removal, a torrent of deep purplish blood spewed forth from the grievous wound, tainting the surrounding waters with a violet hue.

The creature, now weakened and visibly drained, tries to escape...

The eel-like entities, previously lively and aggressive, now floated lifelessly in the water, their life sapped with the removal of the eye.

Seizing the opportunity, Agony transformed into a gigantic maw, devouring the floating chunks of the octopus and its eel-like spawn.

Driven by an insatiable appetite, it scoured the area, making sure no remnants of the creature were left.

In the distant shadows of the abyss, various undersea creatures silently observed the grisly fight.

Their eyes reflected a mix of curiosity and fear, and wisely, they kept a safe distance from Faust.

He had announced himself as an apex predator in these depths in the most brutal way.

Faust looks at Agony. "Where does all the food you eat go?"

Agony responded with a resounding screech. "It transforms directly into energy."

Faust's expression changed into one of mingled intrigue.

"Fascinating. So, everything you consume is efficiently converted into energy without any loss."

His attention then shifted, focusing on the dismembered ocular organ floating beside him.

Creating another scalpel from Agony', he began a dissection.

As he moved through the typical eye structures, his blade eventually unveiled a blue spherical crystal concealed within the eye.

This strange material was an enigma.

It's about the size of a soccer ball. The crystal seemed to synthesize solid matter and vitality, exuding palpable warmth and a faint glow.

Agony, pulsating and shifting, directed a desire to consume the object.

Faust replied, "Don't consume this for the moment."

Agony vibrated with a low, rumbling noise. "Very well. But give me the next one."

Faust, looking at the shadowy depths around them, says, "Sure, if we encounter another."

"However, I doubt they'll dare approach us. The denizens of these depths will likely run as soon as they sense our presence."

Holding the luminous blue crystal, Faust propelled himself upward through the aquatic abyss.

The sphere pulsed in his grasp, its glow casting a subtle, blue light around him.

As he ascended, Faust observed that the shapes of other undersea creatures, once lurking nearby, had gone, granting him an unhindered path to the surface.

His eyes, adjusted to the muted light of the depths, were drawn to the shimmer growing increasingly visible above.

The darkness gradually lightened as he neared the surface.
