Gold.
From the golden marble floor, to the gold carefully inscribed on the very walls; the whole place was golden.
"Are these real or just fake gold?" I asked.
"They're real," Armen said.
"They're fake," Aldrai said. "We just say they're real to impress our guests, and she was never told."
The old lady was, well, old. She looked to be about seventy but moved and spoke like a fifty-year-old.
"Huh," I looked around. I mean, I had a feeling. No one would have this much gold, especially on an island.
Half of the walls were tiled. It was a big entry way and they had massive spiraling stairs leading up. A big chandelier on the ceiling. Not an open one like I'd come to expect seeing the absurdly tall pointy bit. I thought they'd design a stairway leading up and keep the ceiling open but oh well.
Still, the golden atmosphere combined with golden lights, this place truly did look amazing.
"No guards," I said.
