After scaring Tristina to leave the scene, Lawrence merely scoffed slightly.
'It seems like this maid of mine is not really a maid.' Lawrence thought to himself.
His past self, a foolish and worthless young man, had been blind to Tristina's true capabilities. But after his transformation, his keen intellect quickly discerned the truth.
The fact that Tristina was capable of using healing magic, and even managed to enroll in the Tatum Academy proved a lot of her capability.
"Just how much of a fool was I back then?" Lawrence muttered, seemingly wanting to smack his old self. The excuses and deceptions he'd once accepted from Tristina seemed utterly illogical in hindsight.
Maybe that was why there was a popular saying that only when someone experienced something dramatic would one come to realize their shortcomings.
The current him on the surface was a useless, arrogant, selfish, and despicable Young Master.
Was he going to change all of that?
The short answer was a resolute "no."
As for the long answer, it was determinant because Lawrence wasn't going to act impulsive anymore. Everything he did now was meticulously calculated, even if it seemed like he had lost his mind.
'Whatever, I'll deal with her later.' Lawrence thought, shaking his head as he confidently strode towards the Tatum Academy's exit.
He was truly not interested in the boring affinity test whatsoever. It was all just a bunch of brainless or overconfident youths wanting to showcase their power.
Why should he waste his precious time on something like that?
As Lawrence advanced towards the exit, he noticed a figure clad in a security uniform stationed by the gate.
Not caring about it, given that it was only right for the academy to have multiple securities, Lawrence continued to head toward the exit gate.
Alas, some people just couldn't seem to read the room and thought they were the bomb and shit.
"Halt, students are not allowed to leave the premises." The security guard declared, raising his hand as a sign of authority.
Rolling his eyes in exasperation, Lawrence directly flashed his middle finger up to the security guard as he confidently continued his trajectory toward the exit.
What was he going to do?
Attack him?
Detain him?
Just try any of that, and Lawrence would let him know what halting really means.
Alas, little did Lawrence expect, the security guard arrived in front of him and said, "This student, please hold up a minute."
Annoyed, Lawrence raised his tone and retorted, "What do you want?"
Was he really trying to stop him?
His doubts were soon answered when the security guard handed him a silver token.
"I was instructed to hand anyone a silver token if they decide to leave the premises before the estimated time." The security guard explained. It was pretty clear right now that the security guard had no intention of blocking him.
Or more like the security guard didn't want to block him in the first place, but was forced to comply with the instructions received.
Since it was a small matter, Lawrence accepted the silver token and placed it in his pocket, before proceeding to leave the academy premises.
As Lawrence exited through the gate, the security guard went back to his position, seemingly bored out of his mind.
"Can't believe there was someone that actually wanted to leave the premises when the ceremony had barely begun. I was planning on dozing off, but now I have to actually keep an eye out in case another student wants to leave." The security guard clicked his tongue in annoyance.
Who would have thought someone had such confidence and demeanor to outright disrespect the academy that the Queen placed high regard on?
No longer interested in the student leaving, the security guard leaned on a lamppost, clearly wanting to slack off. Life would be boring if he was always so rigid and did not take a relaxing break.
"I didn't get paid enough to supervise 24/7. Who knows if these students are noble and want to screw my life for stopping them?" The security guard yawned, ready to take a good nap while increasing his magic sense.
Even if he wanted to rest, he still needed to make sure there were no intruders. Though the chances of happening were very unlikely.
As the security guard made measurements to slack off in his work, Lawrence had long gone into the main street.
The academy might have just begun, but the lives of other citizens of the Tatum Kingdom were still going on. As Lawrence walked along the main street, it was clear that some people were frightened by his appearance.
Being infamous had its charms similar to being famous, albeit the effect was a stark contrast. Being famous means fans rushing toward you, hoping to shake your hand or ask for a signature on their body, with some daring fans wanting in their private area.
You should know diehard young women fans are quite amazing~
And then there was the infamous part. Everyone wished to avoid you as if you were carrying a virus.
Used to such reactions, Lawrence understood his reputation couldn't be any lower than what it was currently. Back then, he also spent an immense amount of his time reviving his shattered reputation, finally gaining respect within the army after numerous accomplishments.
'Too bad I have no interest in doing any of that anymore.' Lawrence thought to himself. Having matured quite a lot, those kinds of tasks and actions were a waste of time.
Why should he worry about gaining the approval of others?
Could they possibly assist him?
The answer was a fat fucking no!
Other than yapping their stupid mouth from the sideline and requiring you to save them 24/7 due to their incompetence, there were no benefits at all.
If you're one of those spectators who only know how to talk but can't back it up, then please do yourself a favor. Just throw yourself in as bait to help save time for the critical players.
"Not a single talented individual." Lawrence clicked his tongue in disappointment.
