It was a normal day in Delhi, the capital city of India. Yesterday night it rained for a while, but the weather had been generous since this morning. The sun was shining ever so brightly and everyone was busy with their own lives and work in this crowded capital.
Ali, who stayed up late again last night, while playing the new game launched by their company 'Sky Ultima' - finished his morning exercise and breakfast.
Don't ask, why he didn't take a bath before breakfast, my man was awake most of the night and had been feeling hungry.
After his breakfast, he decided to take a bath. When he got out of the shower wearing a bathrobe, he saw Emily standing in the room with his clothes placed on the bed.
"Morning Em." Ali said, as he sat down on the chair in front of the big mirror and started playing around with his phone. Emily picked out the hairdresser and started drying his black hair which were glistening with the water.
"Madam sent a few files for you to take a look at. She said she's expecting an answer by the end of the day. If not, then she's coming to drag you back home." Emily said in a normal tone as she placed the dryer aside and started combing his hair.
Hearing her words Ali sighed loudly, and asked "Is it another folder filled with photos of girls for me to choose my bride from?" Ali asked as he picked a file from the table.
"Who knows?" Emily said with a subtle smile.
Ali put his phone aside and opened the folder. And as he guessed, from the first page pictures of a girl in various dresses and poses came to his view. "Too arrogant"
"She's smiling too much. She's faking it. She's not good. Weird makeup. Too modern. Too old. Too young. She's fine, but not quite." Ali said and rated every girl he saw photos of.
Throwing the folder in a drawer nearby, where a few similar files were kept, he ignored it.
"Tell mom to stop doing it. I already found her a perfect bride."
Emily turned the chair and stood facing him. Trying to fix his hair.
Ali looked at Emily's face and said -"These girls aren't even half as good as you, I wonder what mom's thinking. I bet it's that little devil's fault. I should give her a good beating when I go back this time."
Hearing Ali's words, a blush came to Emily's pretty face. Giving her face a touch of red over her light makeup. She forced her head to look down before he noticed anything. Her long black hair hiding her expressions perfectly.
She was wearing a knee length black skirt with white stockings that seemed to shine due to the contrast of colors. As she moved the sound of high heels striking on the floor echoed in the silent room.
Emily was Ali's personal assistant and his personal maid, who was trained by his mother, to help him with basically everything. She's been following Ali ever since he left Mumbai, and came to follow Aarvi to Delhi and started working at Sky Ultima. Knowing Ali's lackluster habits, his mother had sent Emily to help him with all the basic stuff.
It's been nearly 3 years since then. And she's been following him everyday. After spending so much time together, she couldn't deny that she didn't have any feelings for Ali - after all, he was handsome, funny, rich, caring, loyal - anything a girl needed or asked, Ali had them all. He was all so perfect in her eyes.
But she always hid her feelings to herself, cause she knew she would never found them reciprocated. All her dreams were mere fantasies that would never become reality. So she buried them all, and chose to be happy as long as she was with him.
"Did mom say something else?" Ali asked, bringing Emily out of her reverie.
"She shared your horoscope. Which says your luck is about to change. As today marks the new beginning of your life." Emily said, and went to pick his clothes from the bed and hand them over.
"Seriously, I should let Shiva meet mother sometime. She needs his anti-god theories and therapies a little." Ali said it as a joke. Yet when his brain imagined the scene where his mother who's a believer in God's grace would meet his best friend, who's the exact opposite, meet each other.
-ahhahaha- He couldn't help but smile loudly when he imagined their conversations. Would he see his mother becoming an atheist then, or would he see his brother bowing at a temple.
"I should really schedule a meeting between them." Ali said with a bright smile. While his brain started thinking up ways to which he could hold this meeting.
"I don't think that's a very nice idea, young master." Emily said in a hurry, as she felt a headache just imagining that kind of scene. Both of them are too stuck on their beliefs that they'd fight for it.
And after seeing how this best friend beat her young master last time, just because he investigated his past, Emily doubted if he was really sane in the head.
"No, it's not a good idea. It's a great idea. Shiva won't leave this city and go back to Mumbai, so let's just call mum over.
Didn't mom say she would come if I didn't give her a reply today. Let her come." Ali said, and went behind the partition to get changed.
He wore a black suit with a white shirt inside. The suit fitted perfectly with his physique. Though he liked to follow Aarvi daily and play games in his free times, he did have a fixed routine for his exercises, and a fixed diet pattern to follow. The result of which was evident in his toned muscles and athletic build.
No matter how lazy he became he never stopped his routines. After all, he was in the prime of his life, only 25 years old this year. if something happened to him due to carelessness his mother would kill him.
(And maybe the licking dog gene deep in him didn't want to worry Aarvi, as the last time he got sick, Aarvi took two days off and stayed with him. He didn't want to waste her time and have her worried. So he never acted lazy and aloof about his health again.)
After dressing up he opened a cupboard by sliding both halves outside. He looked inside which held all kinds of watches and small accessories placed inside. He picked a black diamond watch, with silver cuffs and wore them on his wrists. Picking a designer cologne from the side, he sprayed it a little around the corners and the collars, taking a deep breath and feeling the alluring scent in the air he placed it back.
After opening another section of space inside, he looked at the shoes placed in rows. He picked brown leather shoes and wore them.
'Man, I'm getting handsome and handsome everyday.' Ali thought to himself, as he looked at his reflection in the mirror. Call him narcissistic, but who made him so handsome that he could afford being one.
After getting ready, Ali walked out of his mansion, throwing away all his worries and thoughts. He remembered about the horoscope Emily read him some time ago, but he ignored it again.
If only he didn't ignore it and follow his mother's advice then he wouldn't be left dying in the middle of the road now.

"I'm sorry. But don't worry anymore, it'll all be over soon."

Ali looked at a zombie girl tied with chains in a basement, and the memories and images of past resurfaced his mind.
Looking at the pale skin of the girl which lost all its previous luster and glow. The face which always held a smile when looking at him, which was now starting to rot and couldn't form any expression beside hunger. The straight smooth hair which always flew over her pretty face, now looking like a disheveled mess, tangled and filled with dirt. Clothes which made her look pretty before, now barely hanging over her skeletal form.
The difference between the girl he remembered and the one who stood in front of him were too big, and everytime he saw them - his heart was only filled with pain and guilt.
After all, it was only because of him, only because she tried to save him, that he lost her too. And now no matter how many times he said sorry, all he got in response was that grughhhrr sound.
But instead of talking to her today, or crying over his mistakes, Ali pulled the knife from his waist, and clenched it in his hand.
"I'll kill everyone, Em. All of them who forced us into this corner. None of them will live to see tomorrow." Ali said as he moved forward and fixed her hair with his hand.
-Tschh-
He winced a little, as he felt a sudden pain in his hand. He looked below and saw the zombie girl bit on his hand and started chewing on it. Some blood started dripping from his hand, but not as much as normally should've.
Instead of zolting away or pulling his hand back, he caressed her cheek and gently spoke, while his other hand tightly clenched on the knife.
"Once I'm done punishing those bastards for everything, I'll join you too, Emily. You waited for 3 years before, won't you wait a little bit more for your young master this time."
