Me, Ray, and Allison were in my room going over different ways to take care of the zombies. We were going over the manual the whole nine yards. We'd need time to grab the wood and a lot of it. We all agreed the best way to do it would be to clear the zombies out completely, but couldn't agree on how to do it.
"We could always go guns blazing" Ray suggested
"That's the stupidest idea I've heard from you yet" Allison retorted "They can come from any direction and each one takes multiple shots to take down. We'll be overwhelmed almost immediately"
"I don't hear any ideas coming from you" Ray argued
"Because I actually think the plans over" Allison said obviously annoyed.
"What do you think Alan" Ray asked me
I thought for a bit and came upon a pretty solid answer.
"What if we make a kill box" I suggested
"Elaborate" Ray asked
"Well, we get all the zombies into a narrow passageway and then just mow them down. If we run a shotgun to stun and slow at longer ranges and kill at close, then 2 automatics to get shots on the chest and heads to kill and penetrate to hit multiple at one time it might just work. We just need to get them all going down a narrow passageway maybe a long aisle or something and we might just have it."
"How did you come up with a plan like that so quick" Allison asked
"I just remember reading about killboxes when I was younger and just used that to figure out hiw to apply that here" I simply said
Ray and Allison looked at me like I was growing horns. Concerned, I asked "What? Bad plan?"
"Not at all, it's a great plan" Ray said "we're just surprised you came up with something that detailed that quick"
Allison just simply nodded
"We should probably finalize the plan though" I said "we need to figure out who will use what, who will get the zombies trained down the aisle, and where the other two will be stationed"
"You saved my life with that shot gun, so I say you use that, we'll take the automatics" Rau said
"In that case I'll also train the zombies since I'll be better if I'm in a close range pickle. That and now that I have reloaders there's a custom round I've wanted to try"
"Speaking of the sound dog outside" Ray said "you know how it was bulletproof?"
"Yeah" I said
"What if we figure out how to skin it and use the skin for something?" Ray suggested
"There's the good ideas I've been talking about" Allison said sarcastically
"I have them occasionally" Ray said proud of his idea
I grabbed my hunting knife I've always used to hunt deer and went out to pay the corpse a visit. After looking it over for a bit Ray came out with an axe and started chopping at it's neck. After a little bit he had a shallow cut into the neck. I then went in to try to cut it more precisely.
It was at this moment that I noticed how this skin is really put together. It has an extremely tough outer skin, but it's designed only to protect from the outside in. When you cut through the skin from the outside it's super tough, but from the inside it's much easier. It's still as hard as cutting through thick leather, but at least it's cutting.
Ray then whent up to grab a knife of his own and we both spent the next 3 hours getting the skin completely off. There was still some skin around the head, legs, and tail, but we got most of it off. Then while me and Ray got the skin prepped for tanning so it's safe to use, Allison was quartering up all the muscle. She seemed to think it was edible, and I sure hope so. If that was the case we'd have food for a good while.
Me and Ray got the skin ready before Allison was done. By this point Allison had a tarp laid out with a bunch of meat spread across it so it stays as clean as possible. I then asked Ray to keep an eye on Allison while I went in to work on my custom loads.
I grabbed 2 boxes of bird shot shells, buck shot, and slugs. I thought about using some .45 R.I.P (Radically Invasive Projectile) rounds as the slug, but they don't have rifling in the rear to keep it flying straight. I could probably make some custom molds later on.
Either way though, I sectioned the round with powder up to the brim of the high brass, 6 buckshot pellets, a bunch of birdshot, then the slug. It was packed to the brim with what I hope will be the ultimate stopping power.
I made 50 shells to fill the drum mag of my shotgun and got to work getting the rifles set up. They were all semi automatic, but I had some auto-sears I bought years ago before they were outlawed.
Before I got the sears put in I got set up outside with 2 targets to get them sighted in for Allison and Ray. Before that though we got all the meat thrown into the freezers. Then we got the guns sighted in for them and then tested out the auto sears. Inwas surprised at how effective a small chunk of metal would be, but it definitely did a lot.
At that we were ready to get everything cleared out and get some wood. We were all set up with the largest mags we could find, and we even hooked up a trailer to my truck.
After we arrived at Lowes Allison asked "should we wear the earmuffs in the store too so we don't hurt our ears"
"Nah, once the adrenaline starts pumping, you won't even notice" I said "it's also not safe, we are going into a dangerous area after all, so you'll need all the hearing you can get"
Allison and Ray waited at the door while I planned out my path through the aisles. I figured out where to start to where when I run down and weave my way through every aisle I'll end up at the other end of the aisle Allison and Ray will be at making a long kill box.
I then told Allison and Ray to wait until I shoot a .22 round to then wait at the end of the aisle I'll run down last. After that, I ran my way to the starting position killing 2 zombies instantly with one shot from my new shotgun loads. After I arrived at the starting point I shot the .22 starting shot and just to make sure yelled "GO NOW!" and sprinted my way through every aisle shooting any zombies in my way while being tailed by many more.
After killing 13 more zombies having 35 rounds left I rounded the corner where Allison and Ray waited at the end and right before I got to the end I yelled a reminder to "SHOOT THE CHEST AND ABOVE" before sliding in between the two turning around and we all let the lead fly.
We watched as zombie after zombie fell until there were none left. Allison and Ray went through 4 mags between the two and I had an empty drum. I grabbed the 12 round mag with buckshot into my shotgun and then slowly made my way through the store making sure everything was cleared out.
We deemed the main area clear after two sweeps and made our way to the back storage room. Allison and Ray had fresh mags in their guns just to be safe, and we cautiously entered. We slowly swept our way through tha back room killing 3 stragglers and deemed it clear too. We then made our way to the store bathrooms.
Allison went into the girls side, I went into the guys side, and Ray stood guard outside. After a minute of checking every stall we deemed the bathrooms clear as well. The only place left to clear was the exterior. I went to clear the back gated area where most of the wood is stored while Allison and Ray split up to loop around the building. I didn't find a single zombie, but I guess Ray did, because I heard a couple of shots. After deeming the gated area clear I opened the gate wide and drove my truck in tonstart loading. At that point Allison and Ray finished their sweep and started to help me load up the trailer.
We filled the bed of my truck with the wooden sheets, and the trailer got loaded with as much else that we could fit. We strapped everything down and made our way back to the motel.
