"Ugghhh" -- Elena explained as she got out of her bed. Today marked one year of her being put into this stupid character in the world of this stupid ass game.
She got up out of bed and put on a white shirt and long black pants. It was merely 6 in the morning, so she went on her daily run and then on to training. As the first daughter of the captain of the royal guard, she had a duty to uphold family standards. Even more so since she knew what was going to happen in a week.
But she put off those thoughts and rushed off to breakfast, where the only ones present were her mother and youngest brother. Her mother was a soft but smart women with red hair and a light complexion whose heart her father had won many years ago during their university days.
Her father, the captain was a large burly man with with a dark complexion who knew his way around a battlefield and had a stoic and silent personality, her mother was diplomatic and kind and could get even the most annoying noble ladies to hold their tongues.
Her youngest brother was merely 8 years old and a testament to the old couple's thriving marriage.
She had just turned 16, and soon had to attend the winter solstice ball to present herself to the rest of noble society. All she wanted to do was be a wallflower.
She hated large gatherings of people but knew of her responsibility as the first daughter of a ducal house, especially as the daughter of the captain of the royal guard.
Dealing with large groups of self involved people was already a hassle, even mor eso now that they were going to be vying for her hand. She disliked people in general.
Atleast she could pick whatever she got to wear, within reason at least. Which is why she choose a sleek black dress that was not vey flashy, with a u shaped neckline, with slits on the either side of the dress up to her thighs, which just barely qualified for it to be a gown as it barely touched the floor, and sleeveless, of course, all these years of training had to show for something.
She wore her hair long and straight, and had her face partially covered, in order to make her seem as unassuming as possible.
Additionally, she had 2 hidden daggers attached to her thighs. She was going to need it, to survive the night after all. How else was she going to meet her favorite villainess if she didn't survive the night she was supposed to die.

Her mother and youngest brother took her to one of the numerous sitting rooms in the giant mansion after a quaint breakfast and a shower of hugs.
Sitting in the center were a collection of presents. The first was from a father - a light broadsword with a dark leather hilt and a plain yet sturdy guard. A practical gift which she valued greatly.
Her older brothers in university in a different country , 21 and 17, sent her letters with jewelry and candy respectively. It showed the clear disconnect that existed between both of them and her, not that she minded all that much. Her oldest brother, 28 years old, was away from the capital in the countryside duchal land after he quit being heir in order to marry his now husband, he also sent her a rather dismal gift.
On the other hand her mother gave her an enchanted necklace, said to strengthen and protect the holder. Similar to her father's practical gift, yet with flair.
Her youngest brother simply gave her a couple lilacs he had picked from the garden, and while it was no where near her parent's gift, he was just so cute she couldn't bare to tell him she only liked lilies and lavender.
She gracefully accepted her family's gifts and excused herself.
She luckily had no classes today. Her mother excused her various tutors so she could enjoy her birthday and so she could finally do some personal training.
Magic in this world existed, and it was up to her to finally get hers. The real Elena technically died it during a assassination attempt on her 15th birthday, and her soul was put in this body after that. Since magic is connected to your could, she had spent the last year, researching, collecting and finding information about unlocking her magical capabilities. After a while of conferring with her magic tutor, and the family library, she settled on visiting a nearby church to confer with the god(s?) that placed her soul here. She didn't want back, good she hated her past life, but she also didn't like the situation she was sprung with.
She asked her mother for permission to go to the town, after which she prepared for her visit. She had just one week left till the winter solstice ball, and needed to have her preparations in order to ensure she survived.
