"The continuing case of the disappearing victims has been continued. After 10 victims have disappeared with an equality 5 adults and 5 students, a new victim has been added to the list."
"A Japanese school girl, just about high school age and moved to South Korea with her family, had went missing. Witnesses had only saw her exit the school grounds before going the exact same pathway back home. However, once the officers had checked her home and her family background, the family had no difficulties with anyone and nothing had changed ever since. Only resulting this case to be unconcluded just like all of the missing victims."
"In fact, many of the missing victims to this day have not been found as multiple reports from places had stated there has been not once that any of the missing victims were spotted walking around in public and private property... in which. I must say, all of these missing cases will soon be nothing if the traces continue to be unseen."
The TV would turn off as it all went silent. Yet, the TV was placed in a perfect spot. Where everyone could watch movies or see the news. But surrounding the TV was dozens of books aligned all together while some books were on the stands, making them proudly stand out. More beyond the TV and the books held on the bookshelves were dozens of more books, revealing the large room to be a library. On the outside, was a large school.
Yet a girl, 17 years old, had long dark black hair and greyish black colored eyes, wore the school uniform of a white well ironed button shirt while a black colored waist coat covered it and a grey colored skirt that was comfortable and was made out of flexible fabric. She was 176 centimeters tall as she was fairly skinny.
The girl would pull out a book from one of the boxes before using her other hand to make a small gap between a pair of books on the bookshelves, just enough to fit the other book in as she carefully slid the book into the gap.
"Hyeon?" a feminine voice calls out.
The girl, Hyeon. would turn her head to the direction she heard the voice, her eyes slightly widened as if she snapped out of her own day-dream while her breathing and her lips remained calm and silent.
"Yeah?" she responds.
"You're still here?"
"Yeah.. I just wanted to finish placing the books away. I just placed the last book so..."
"Oh really? Thank you, Hyeon. Your generosity for this library has been so helpful to me ever since
you first came to Geon Academy."
"Oh it's nothing really.. I've only been helping out for a short while."
"Short? You call 4 years short?"
"... Uh. Yeah?"
"You're so funny, Hyeon. Just make sure you keep some credit for yourself too-"
Hyeon smiles a bit as she felt comforted by the librarian. Ever since she entered Geon Academy since she was young, she was only 13 when she was finally able to help out with the library ever since she her hobby to read has been increased. The library was her safe place when she was mistreated by others or when she was simply lonely.
"But how's your mother doing?"
Hyeon stares at the librarian, her lips slip open but her expectations for words were negated. For the past year, Hyeon's mother had been at the hospital after being sent to the emergency room from the night Hyeon's hobby for reading started.
When Hyeon was 16, she safely came back home before seemingly finding her home empty. However, considering the silence a very alarming aura as Hyeon's mother normally was in the kitchen cooking dinner by the time Hyeon was home, it scared her a bit. Hyeon took off her shoes and rushed into the kitchen, only to find it empty. She checked the other rooms before finally entering her mother's room. Hyeon found her mother lying on the bed as she looked asleep, but once her mother didn't respond to her, Hyeon called the medics.
"My mother's doing better than she was three weeks ago..." Hyeon mumbled.
"Is that so?"
Hyeon would nod, silently replying as her shoulders rose up a bit. The librarian noticed her discomfort, allowing the subject to fade away as quickly as possible.
"Well, you're job is done here Hyeon. Go on and pack up and head back home safely, alright?"
"Oh... a-alright. Just let me look for something real quick."
"I trust you. I'll be leaving before you so make sure you turn off the lights and close the door in the library."
"I will.. I'll see you tomorrow, Mrs. Mi-sook."
Mrs. Mi-sook would walk off into the small distance before taking a turn, out the library where now Hyeon was alone in the library herself. After Mrs. Mi-sook's gentle and quiet footsteps faded away, Hyeon picked up her black and large handbag that carried her stuff before exploring the library one more time. But as she walked around one of the shelves, one of the books caught her eye. The category of the books was something she was interested in but yet a simple scarlet red colored book immediately caught her interest.
she stopped right in front of the shelf before gently getting a hold of the book with her fingers and then pulling the scarlet red book out.
How have I not seen this before..? she thought.
Turning the book on the backside, there was no summary written on the back. But turning the book on the front side revealed only a golden colored title.
Reality Altercation.
I'm assuming this is just an old book. But the title looks interesting.. I think I'll try it.
Hyeon would open her handbag before sliding the book into the small space that fit perfectly for the book. Yet, without a second thought, Hyeon walked away from the bookshelf. She approached the doors of the library before turning off the lights that were implanted on the wall as she exited the library and quietly closed the doors to not bother the rest of the teachers on school grounds.
. . .
The streets weren't as empty. There were children, mothers, fathers, and even some classmates from Geon Academy were heading home before dark as the sun was slowly setting, slowly hiding itself from the world. Even though the streets weren't as empty but weren't as crowded, Hyeon stood inches away from many of them, leaving her by herself. Where no one and she would be bothered by the amount of space. Hyeon looked up in the skies that were slowly fading to darker colors the more the sun set.
"Oh right." Hyeon mumbled to herself, unzipping her bag before pulling out the book. "Since it's just me at home, I have time to read this before I make it home."
Hyeon would close her handbag before gripping tightly on the book. Looking up to make sure no one was in the way, she looked back down at the book before slowly opening the book. The pages were pure white, it was barely written on or even dirty.
Did Mrs. Mi-sook just get this book? But- who's the author? she thought.
She turned the page before a small written was seen on the first page. It was written in ink, but written gently enough that the ink didn't rush through the other page. The writing was clear enough to read.
The weak become the stronger once they embrace the true power they were born with.
Hyeon would use her finger to move the page from the bottom, only to see the bright white paper darken. No. the white paper didn't darken.
Hyeon looked up, confused on why everything got darker all until her questions were answered. The sky was darker than it was before. The sun had disappeared and only the bright full moon was giving off light to the skies.
What-? Why's the moon already up? That's not possible right..? I just started reading. Wait-
Hyeon would close the book before quickly sliding her phone out of her pocket. Turning on her phone, the lock screen revealed a wholesome picture of her and her mother before the incident. Yet, just in front was the time. 5:37 PM.
Huh... that doesn't make sense. she thought.
Hyeon would slowly enter the clock app, full of doubt. She had thought her phone connected to a different time zone out of South Korea, but once she looked at the time zones, South Korea didn't exist in the time zone. Her eyes widened as Hyeon zoomed out, yet only to realize that the world she knew was gone. It was an entirely different kind of world.
How.. H-How did this happen?!
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!"
!?
Hyeon jumped a bit before looking up as her eyes slowly shifted upwards. The blood-curdling scream shocked her with fear as her eyes would widen. There she saw was a woman in her 20's. The woman looked petrified from the thing in front of her. Yet, the thing in front of her wasn't human.
The thing looked like it was made out of black colored flames while only it's purple eyes and mouth can be seen. It's black colored flamed skin was covered by a dark purple cloak. It looked slightly friendly at first, but it would later on cause chaos.
I can't believe.. what the hell is that?!
The woman stepped back as she was slowly beginning to move. But the monster continued to approach the woman, attracted by her fear. But in a flash, the monster would raise it's arms up, sending a silent screech as the woman glowed a white color. The woman's eyes only widened more in fear, feeling her own life slip out of her hands. She largely opened her mouth to let out a scream, but she only let out a small cry. The monster had snatched her soul.
Hyeon's mouth would open as her lips trembled in fear, realizing what the monster was doing.
That.. That must be some soul eater..!
The woman's body would drop to the ground as the soul demolisher had finished it's goal. However, the soul demolisher had looked around at the small crowd that was petrified and trying so hard to not to scream, cry and show their fear.
But their attempt to hide their fear wouldn't send the soul demolisher away. Instead, the soul demolisher sent out a massively loud screech as the winds began to harshly rise. The screech would send the small crowd running away as multiple people would hit Hyeon's shoulders and arms. Not caring about anyone around them as they just wanted to be home.
Yet, Hyeon would stay still as she was left petrified on her feet. But she was able to stand her ground while her shoulders and arms would be hit by other people. But she snapped out of her frantic state after hearing the cry of a child.
Hyeon turned her head to wear she heard the cry as she spotted the soul demolisher approaching a young boy who was about 10-13 years old. He had short white hair and diamond blue eyes.
Her feet suddenly began to move as Hyeon's fear was being negated. From behind, she was being painted with anger.
No way.. a child. Left there alone. He will die.. if I don't do something!
Hyeon's legs began to move forward.
I can't watch another person die in front of my eyes... Especially that woman.. that woman didn't deserve to die from that monster!
Yet this world that teleported us in here... This is just karma isn't it. This world is to punish all of us for the cruelty the humans have done. Even I believed that the world should've disappeared.. but not this way.
Hyeon's speed began to increase. From walking to running without a thought. Hyeon couldn't let that boy die. She wouldn't let that soul demolisher take away the lives who were innocent and have a farther future ahead of them.
Yet the words flashed in her head.
The Weak. Become. Stronger.
And there she went. Dashing towards the boy. Proving how this world saw humans... Wrong.
