Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Grandfather Who Mastered the Art of Prudence

To protect his grandson, Lin Weiquan, after saying his piece, instructed the numerous high-ranking members present, along with the clan members and servants managing the three low-grade spiritual fields, to enter a grand hall within the valley. He activated a soundproof formation to ensure privacy.

In an instant, the only ones left in the area were Lin Zichen, Lin Weiquan, and Lin Shoucheng, the current Clan Leader of the Lin family.

Although those tasked with managing the spiritual fields in this valley had been rigorously tested and deemed trustworthy, Lin Weiquan believed in erring on the side of caution. Better safe than sorry. Lin Zichen did not object to this measure.

He vividly remembered that during one of his simulations, it had only taken a few years after the emergence of a mid-grade spiritual field in the clan for the Wang family and two other major families to discover it.

While this outcome couldn't definitively prove that a traitor existed within the Lin family, such a result made precautions necessary.

As for his earlier display of an eighth-stage Postnatal Realm cultivation, it wasn't a major concern.

Being at the eighth stage of the Postnatal Realm at sixteen was indeed exceptional in Qianyuan Country, but it wasn't unprecedented. Other talented individuals, particularly heirs of Immortal Clans, had even reached the Prenatal Realm by that age. Though Lin Zichen's achievement was remarkable, he was ultimately just a promising talent who had yet to fully mature.

While his skills might garner attention, as long as there was no significant conflict of interest, few would act against him. Most factions would prefer to win him over.

However, the mid-grade spiritual field was a completely different matter.

A mid-grade spiritual field was akin to a perpetual treasure trove, offering immense profits and incentives. The stakes were far too high.

Even so, Lin Zichen wasn't overly worried.

As spiritual fields were the Lin family's primary livelihood, anyone allowed to work within them underwent strict supervision. Even direct clan members needed to meet two conditions and gain approval from at least half of the Lin family's senior members to leave the restricted area and return to the main clan for cultivation.

The first condition required working in the spiritual fields for twenty years.

The second was accumulating enough family contribution points.

Both conditions were challenging for most individuals to meet, and even fewer managed to satisfy both simultaneously. Furthermore, with the discovery of a mid-grade spiritual field, the importance of this area would skyrocket. Even those who made significant contributions would face stringent scrutiny before being allowed to leave.

It wouldn't be unusual for the process to drag on for three to five years.

With the Immortal Clan Simulator at his disposal, Lin Zichen believed that three to five years would be ample time for him to lead the Lin family to heights far beyond what an ordinary clan could achieve. By then, concerns about his cultivation level or the exposure of the mid-grade spiritual field would no longer be relevant.

"System, deploy the mid-grade spiritual field," Lin Zichen commanded.

With a thought, the ten acres of mid-grade spiritual fields stored in the system space materialized before him.

A dazzling white light illuminated the valley as the ten acres of mid-grade spiritual fields made contact with the ground. They began to emit an invisible pull, continuously drawing in the surrounding spiritual energy from heaven and earth.

Fifteen minutes later, as the valley returned to tranquility, Lin Zichen stood before a ten-acre mid-grade spiritual field emitting faint white mist.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. As expected of a mid-grade spiritual field. The concentration of spiritual energy it gathers is five times that of a low-grade spiritual field. Even the overall spiritual energy in this valley has increased significantly. Once it stabilizes, the valley's spiritual energy concentration will be at least twice that of the outside world."

As Lin Zichen surveyed the surroundings, observing the changes in the valley, Lin Shoucheng and Lin Weiquan, who had finally recovered their composure, were inwardly reeling with shock and awe.

With a thought, the ten acres of Mid-Grade spiritual fields appear

In an instant, ten acres of mid-grade spiritual fields materialized before Lin Shoucheng and Lin Weiquan. This miraculous feat had already shattered their understanding of the world.

Initially, they assumed Lin Zichen wanted to confirm the placement of the spiritual fields before secretly relocating them to the valley. While such a move would deplete the spiritual fields' foundational essence, the compromise was worth it for the sake of safety and convenience.

What they hadn't expected was for Lin Zichen to directly summon the spiritual fields out of thin air.

"There are legends," Lin Shoucheng murmured, "that upon surpassing the Celestial Realm, one can wield miraculous powers. This method of conjuring ten acres of mid-grade spiritual fields from nothing is strikingly similar to those legendary divine abilities."

The more they thought about it, the more exhilarated Lin Shoucheng and Lin Weiquan became.

In Qianyuan Country, the Celestial Realm marked the pinnacle of martial strength. As for the legendary Reversion Realm, not a single expert of that caliber had ever revealed themselves.

If Lin Zichen truly had inherited the inheritance of such a peerless powerhouse, then the Lin family's rise was inevitable.

"Zichen, this inheritance you've obtained… could it be from—"

"Father, I can't say much," Lin Zichen interrupted. "Just know that its origins are significant, far beyond your imagination."

"The spiritual fields have been placed. Father, Grandfather, I'll go back to cultivating now."

Without waiting for a reply, Lin Zichen made a hasty retreat, vanishing before they could press him further.

The best way to handle questions about the system's existence was to keep it hidden. A vague statement followed by letting their imaginations run wild would make them believe even more firmly in his "inheritance."

"This brat…" Lin Shoucheng muttered, half-amused.

Lin Weiquan, on the other hand, was visibly ecstatic. "It seems Zichen truly encountered a divine mentor. Divine abilities… those are the stuff of legends. Our Lin family is about to produce a true dragon!"

Watching Lin Zichen's departing figure, neither Lin Shoucheng nor Lin Weiquan felt the slightest annoyance. Instead, their eyes were filled with anticipation and excitement.

Stories of young prodigies encountering reclusive masters and rising to greatness were not unheard of in this world. Some mentors, known for their eccentricities, preferred to remain in the shadows, allowing their disciples to grow within their families. Lin Zichen's mysterious refusal to disclose his origins fit perfectly into such tales.

"Shoucheng," Lin Weiquan said sternly, snapping out of his excitement, "since Zichen doesn't wish to share more, don't dig further. Keep this matter to yourself, and ensure that the other clan members who know about it keep their mouths shut as well."

"The fact that our Lin family has such a prodigious descendant is a stroke of unparalleled fortune. But as the saying goes, 'The tallest tree in the forest is the first to fall.' Zichen is still growing; we must remain cautious and keep a low profile."

Lin Shoucheng frowned. "Father, isn't that a bit excessive? With Zichen's mentor being a legendary figure, who in all of Qianyuan Country could possibly pose a threat to him?"

"Fool!" Lin Weiquan snapped. "Do you think Qianyuan Country is the extent of the world?"

"This world is vast, Shoucheng. Don't limit your perspective to a single country. Even Qianyuan Country, which appears to have Celestial Realm experts as its strongest figures, might secretly be backed by Reversion Realm powerhouses we can't even fathom."

"And even if Zichen's mentor is truly a Reversion expert, can you guarantee he's the only one in the Ten Thousand Countries of the Tianwu Continent? Do you think he has no rivals?"

"Our understanding of those at such heights is limited, but we can extrapolate. Imagine Qingfeng City as a microcosm of the Tianwu Continent. Just as Qingfeng City has sects with Master-level experts overseeing them, Reversion experts might govern vast territories in the same way. Their strength and reach are immense, and they might allow subordinate factions to manage their lands, hiding themselves in the process."

"We are but a small clan with limited influence and resources. We cannot afford to draw undue attention to ourselves. Zichen is our family's hope, but until we have the strength to protect him, we must be patient and prudent."

"For now, you must suppress any impulse to prove yourself. Whether for Zichen's safety or the family's future, we must tread carefully. Do you understand?"

Lin Shoucheng took a deep breath, finally nodding. "I understand, Father."
