Chereads / Eld Blood / Chapter 3 - Fallen Angel.

Chapter 3 - Fallen Angel.

The cold desert was filled with screams and the remnants of ancient buildings. Blood flowed across the ground like rain, explosions erupted all around, and a haze of ashes and gunpowder obscured the vision. In the midst of this chaos, a man in tattered clothes ran with a baby in his arms. His expression didn't match the chaotic situation; it was a look of pure hatred.

Under a red sky, he ran with all his might. In front of him, men fought without hesitation. The man, who carried only hatred and a small dagger in his left hand, killed the men in front of him without distinction. The rusty blade cut through necks as if it were nothing. He spun, keeping the child safe in his arm, and killed numerous men, whose bodies fell all around. He continued running amidst the chaos. Blood covered his body, but it did not touch the small child, who strangely showed no reaction to the chaos and war around.

A voice echoed, "I must reach them." The voice trembled with hatred as his run became more frantic. A red explosion landed beside him, and he shielded the child with his arms. Then, he took his dagger and said, "Von der Stärke meines Blutes." His veins shone in strong red, the air began to cut at the blade's edge, and his muscles twitched. "I can't let it happen again... I can't let it happen again." Blood dripped from his mouth as a dark energy emanated from his body in a vibrant black light. The sky split open, and something shining in blue fell onto the battlefield.

Enstern woke up startled, still in the early hours of the morning. He said nothing and got up as usual. Instead of taking a shower, as he always did, he climbed onto the roof and observed. The view was beautiful, with the pre-dawn painting the sky. He saw a solitary house amidst a forest, paths leading to small towns, and a village of fishermen and hunters called Fea Glas, a village on an island to the south of the group of red islands.

Enstern observed the moon and then Venus, shining in red beside it. His initially solemn and calm expression turned into apathy and pain. He descended from the roof and went for a walk, sensing something. He followed a familiar path for about 30 minutes until he encountered an old drunkard.

The drunkard said, "Tired already, my little Einz?" Enstern ignored him and tried to pass by, but the old man jumped in front of him. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, take it easy. I haven't finished talking!"

Enstern, impatient, said, "I don't have time, Robert."

The drunkard responded, intrigued, "Look at me. See, I don't have time here!" He gestured and laughed.

Enstern, looking tired and in a hurry, requested, "Just get to the point."

The old man responded seriously, "I see in your eyes that you're about to make a bad decision. Even after all these years, you're still the same man. So, I'll give you one of my cards to enlighten your soul." He handed Enstern a card from an old deck, representing a bishop of spades with scriptures on the back. "The light of the fall is greater the heavier the star."

Enstern tucked the card into his shirt and left as the old man laughed. "Don't forget, only the arrogant dislike changing and learning, only the arrogant dislike understanding the fluidity of life! Be a new you, Einz!"

Enstern continued his walk, and two hours later, he reached the island's coast. He then headed to a grave atop a hill and placed a small metal firefly and a lily. He knelt and appeared to be praying for someone who had passed away. "Forgive me..." Then he got up and walked to some rocks on the seashore. Behind some larger ones, he found a small pile of smaller rocks. He moved them aside and discovered a chest. Upon opening it, he saw two ancient black daggers, a photo of a red-haired woman, a pocket watch, and a snake amulet.

Enstern took one of the daggers, which reflected his hateful gaze. He muttered wearily, "I hope I don't have to use this again today. Why do things have to be this way..." Then, he sheathed the daggers at his waist, placed the photo in his coat pocket, stored the watch, and left the snake amulet inside the chest, closing it. He headed towards an old boat and said, "I won't allow it..."

As the determined man embarked on his journey towards an uncertain goal, Luna and Neno were in the treehouse. Neno handed Luna an old necklace and said, "Keep it. It's from Mom; it helps you control."

Curious, Luna asked, "Control what?"

Neno replied with a trembling voice, "What you did this morning. You have the power to share feelings. If it's like Mom's, you can divide and share sensations. We're not like everyone else, Luna. We have something running in our blood, called Eld Blood. We're what they call... Sensō Heiki."
