Chapter 174 - It's too late

Mindy arrived at the mansion, her heart still heavy from her visit to the church. The grand foyer, with its opulent furnishings and muted grandeur, seemed almost foreign in the wake of her emotional turmoil. She climbed the stairs slowly, her footsteps echoing softly in the silence of the house.

As she reached the top of the stairs and turned toward her room, she heard raised voices coming from the direction of the study. Her curiosity piqued, she moved closer, careful not to make a sound. The argument was heated, and Mindy instinctively pressed her ear to the door to listen.

Old Mrs. Sullivan's voice was sharp and cutting. "I don't understand how you can be so incompetent, Olivia! I brought you here to fix things, to comfort Jacob, but all you've managed to do is make things worse!"
