Chapter 60 - Chapter 60 - A Wild Contractee Appears [1]

Using four arms was harder than expected, the human brain wasn't exactly made to control so many appendages. So, it took me an hour to even get my other two arms moving around.

But now, I was much better at using them. However I wasn't entirely sure if I was comfortable in fighting someone in this state. Being in this form meant that using a sword wasn't really an option either, it was much too awkward to use a blade when one had four arms.

The bottom two arms got in the way of the top two held the sword, and the opposite happened when the bottom two arms wielded the blade.

It was just easier to use this form to enhance my hand to hand combat.

Looking at the time, I sighed.

'The contractee that appears tonight, it should be a fairly inferior second year, so I doubt I'll lose. But still, killing a person isn't something I can take pleasure in.'

The reason I needed to kill the contractee was simple. If I didn't kill them, they would kill me. Contractees at the academy often made attempts at the lives of the main cast in the original novel. The reason for that was simple.

This Academy was raising mankind's greatest fighters. Arthur Valter was a genius even before regressing, the Princess of the Elves is a fighter on par with my own Princess. There are other talented people on par with them in this place, so while it's a source of Contractees it's also a source of potential threats.

The Demon's will probably consider me as someone who could oppose them in the future. Once I become a bit more well known and gain their recognition, they'll want to kill me. Or they'll try take me onto their side.

I could see the Wrath Clan extending their hand to me, though I don't see myself accepting their contracts. I'm kind of fond of my free will, so I won't be signing my soul to some Demon any time soon.

And so, I left my room and headed to the Academy gardens. There weren't many people around, actually, there wasn't anyone around just yet.

I didn't fully know when the contract would be made, according to the novel it was supposed to happen today, after sunset.

And so, there I was, sitting on the roof, just waiting for someone to appear.

Hours had passed, I felt like I was about to fall asleep from sheer boredom.

I could've used Arcane Magic to get rid of my exhaustion, but that was too risky. If I was detected, then the Demon may end up avoiding making the contract entirely.

Demon's liked being secretive about things after all. They also didn't want their spies being discovered.

And, as far as I knew, I didn't have a presence. I couldn't be detected unless I made use of Mana.

'In other words, I'm undetectable at the moment.'

Mere moments later, a young man walked into the gardens. In his hands was a crumpled piece of paper. His rage was palpable, I could feel his hatred.

'Shall I kill him now? He'll only get stronger post contract..'

I dismissed the thought immediately however. There was a chance that he wouldn't take contract, the chance was small but I wasn't exactly willing to take a potentially innocent life away. And, I needed to leave a Contractee's corpse for the Heresy Inquisitors, they would make good use of it after all.

The young man had, short black hair and dark brown eyes, he looked at the moon as the flowers around him swayed from the wind. The young man wasn't remarkable in any way, his appearance, height, physique and strength were all unremarkable at the very best.

The man was the embodiment of mediocrity. But, I'm sure he had ambitions and dreams that he wanted to achieve. And, not being able to reach the heights he wanted lead him to this.

As I was observing him, I felt the air around me tremble. An eerie feeling ran down my body, causing shivers to run down my spine. I focused my gaze on the upperclassman, I could tell that he wasn't sure as to what was going on.

'A partial manifestation...'

Demon's could partially manifest their body's, this allowed them to have limited interactions with our world. The World's will was the only things stopping Demon's from fully manifesting.

The weaker the world was, the more power a Demon could manifest. And so, Demonic Energy began to gather infront of the young man.

Ultimately, what formed was nothing more than a small, black 'gap.'

A gate, if you will.
