I managed to stay awake all night, and soon, it was time for school. I really was fighting the urge to sleep, but even if I did, I wake up as if I didn't sleep at all, so what's the point?
Mom entered the room, planning to wake me up, but I was already awake.
"Wake u- Oh my, Koyuki, you are awake?" Mom said, in a rather surprised tone.
"Hi." I whisper, "Ah, my eye, the light... close it."
Mom closes the light, and I cover myself with a blanket.
"Can you go to school?" She asked, I shake my head.
"Alright, I'll call the school and let them know that you won't attend today."
I got so... tired?
I look at my finger, there was a ring, I blink, and it's gone.
"Huh?" I whisper, somewhat not surprised.
I finally give up as I sink my head in the pillow.
It was the same as usual. I stopped time and tied mom's hands. (Which was NOT smart at all)
I open time, and she tried to drive with her feet, and she crashed.
I groan in annoyance, it's just like I'd gave up on her just like dad predicted.
I started walking since I have nothing better to do. I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Excuse me, good madam, can thou bother thyself a little to help me?" The girl said.
She had dark brown eyes and charming blue eyes, and she looked my age. But something was odd, she was speaking in old English and her clothes were somewhat weird, she was wearing a small tiara, just like a medieval princess.
"Madam?" She repeated.
"Excuse me," I mumble, "Why are you dressed this way?"
"What is thou speaking of? If any fellow was wearing something perhaps weird, it would be thee."
I look around, but it was not the city, it's like the medieval era, a big festival was taking place. Maybe she is a princess after all.
"As I was preaching... Can thou help? I saw a youngster getting abducted (I think), and I couldn't intervene.
Now, after the last dream, I should've been left with extreme trust issues, but I have a strong sense of justice.
"Youngster? Abducted?! Where?" I ask.
"Follow me." She said.
As the both of us were walking, I couldn't help but wonder why she didn't ask anyone but me, I asked her.
"Oh well, I suppose they are scared of me." She replied, "My name is Luxury, princess Luxury."
"Koyuki." I reply.
Why are they scared of her? That hit me like a train.
In history class, we used to learn about ancient rules, if anyone touched a member from the royal family without a royal order, they shall perish, and a royal order can only be given by the king. Like the Vietnamese queen who drowned because no one was willing to touch her.
But it's a dream, so why should I care?
We run to the boy who was being kidnapped. I raised my hand, ready to stop time, light came out of it.
"Witch!" A peasant shouted.
I lower my hand in confusion.
"Real, I saw it with my own eyes!" Another peasant shouted.
"Er, my dear subjects, that was not witch craft, I order ye to calm down!" Luxury said.
"We don't care!"
I pull Luxury aside.
"What are they yapping about? Er- I mean what are they talking about?" I ask.
"This town was cursed with witch craft before, they won't listen." she replied.
A royal guard held my arm.
"Let me go!" I shout, trying to fight him off.
"Guard, let her go!" Luxury ordered, but the guard didn't obey.
People tarted throwing tomatoes, I instinctively tried to cover my face, but I couldn't.
"Koyuki!" Luxury followed, but another guard dragged her.
Before I knew it, we were all in front of a river; and by 'we', I mean I, Luxury, the guards, a judge, and some nosey peasants.
I was on my knees as my hands were tied behind my back.
"Outsider, did thou use witch craft?" Asked the judge firmly.
I didn't reply.
The guard grabbed me by the hair and dipped my head in the water. I tried to resist, but his grip tightened.
As I was about to drown, he took my head out.
"I will repeat my question. Did thou use witch craft?" The judge asked again.
"I deny that, good sire, that was in fact not witch craft." I cough out.
"Lies."
The guard dipped my head again.
"I am telling the truth!" I shout.
"Do you swear to tell the truth, the full truth, and nothing but the truth?" The judge asked.
"Ye, my good lord." I whisper, "That was magic, and it was.." Cough cough, "To help a youngster getting abducted."
"I see, I hereby declare you a death sentence by being burnt on a stake, you betrayed God, witches have no place amongst us."
"Absolute tomfoolery!" Luxury shouted, "Thou shalt not take the life of a hero!" She cried.
"Silence!"
"My father is the king, I will let him know of the tomfoolery going on!"
"Thy father ordered me to judge rightfully."
"This is not rightful! Koyuki is a devoted Catholic, she is religious!"
"Religious, thou say?" The judge had a good laugh, "Then the witch shall be crucified then burnt."
He didn't a reaction out of me, my face was blank, showing little to no emotion.
Next day, one of the guards was riding a horse, I was walking behind him with my hands tied to a rope.
It was all to humiliate me in front of everyone. And out of nowhere, they started throwing rocks, and I whimper in pain.
After walking through the whole city, and a lot of bruises, it was time for the crucifixion. I walked in shame, some guards had to restrain Luxury.
"As was melteth before the fire, let the wicked perish at the presence of God. Psalm 68:2" A priest said.
It was so painful, I would rather redo the lobotomy. "Oh God, why hast I suffer at the hands of thy subjects?" I mutter.
"The burning will be thirty minutes later." The guard said as he left, and everyone followed, except for Luxury.
She knelt before me and held my feet.
"Blessed are pure in the heart, for they shall see God. Oh my lord, my dear Koyuki!" She said, weeping and kissing my feet.
"Depart from me, for I am a sinner. Luxury, stop torturing me." whisper.
"My God! You don't deserve it! Absolutely not! These wretched idiots! If only they had enough brain as much as they had ear wax..."
I felt a tear at the corner of my eye, it landed on Luxury's left cheek.
After the time was up, Luxury got dragged away.
"In the name of God!" Said a guard as he threw a torch.
I felt immense pain wash over me. After all, being burned alive is the most painful way to die. I try to resist by moving my arms, but it only made it worse. I gave up, looking at the sky, scavengers flying around. I close my eyes.
"the road to hell is paved with good intentions"
I woke up, but I didn't feel anything, just emptiness. Is pain even real? Is it something I made up?
I get up quietly to write my dream down. After I was done, I opened my history book for shits and giggles. I saw Luxury's face, "PRINCESS LUXURY THE THIRD" was written in bold.
I close the book, slowly opening it again, It was Queen Victoria this time. I sigh in relief. Am I going mad?
I leave my room, it was all dark. I look at the clock.
"No way it' twelve a.m." I gasp.
I enter the kitchen, I hadn't eaten all day. I know, I don't want to eat, but I can't starve either, so I settled for one meal a day.
As I opened the upper cabinet, a jar of pepper (it was small and used for toppings) fell right into my eyes.
"My eyes!" I shout as I lay on my back, bawling my eyes out. Glass surrounded me like a field of flowers, it smelled of death, but luckily for me, I avoided it.
"A-argh." I mutter as I stand up painfully to wash my eyes. It wasn't a dream, it was reality, and I was aware of it.
It was a bit clear now, but my eyes were still hurting, and my vision was a bit red.
I look at my left arm, I felt something crawling inside.
"No! I don't want a bug under my skin!" I shout.
I immediately start scratching, layer after layer, until I couldn't scratch anymore. Blood started to form, and I took a glass shard, carefully holding it. I am aware that one small mistake could cost me my life, but I didn't care at this point. I started digging, it was painful, but I hate bugs. I HATE BUGS. BUGS. I hate.. bugs?
I finally looked at the area I scratched, and nothing but blood came out, there was no trace of a bug. I'm losing my head, it took me a lot of effort to not actually kill myself.
I started giggling a little, before it turned into a hysterical fit of laughter that turned into extreme high pitched crying.
I curled down on the floor, surrounded by the mess I just made.
The light opened and mom came dashing.
"Koyuki-" She gasped, "Oh."
"Mom!" I whisper, trying to hide my arm.
She grabbed my arm and covered her mouth.
"Wait for me on the couch." She said firmly.
I go to the couch, trembling and shaking with embarrassment.
After ten minutes, my mom came back with a bandage and some alcohol. She silently started cleaning the wound, she took out a couple of glass shards with disgust.
"Care to tell me what happened?" She asked.
"I don't feel comfortable telling, I'm sorry." I look down in shame.
"Young lady, you don't have a choice."
"Well um- I had a dream that I failed math." As you can see, I lied.
"What is wrong with you?" She shouted.
"Hm?" I reply, trying to fight the tears.
"Why are you starting to be so negative? That is not how I raised you! All of that because of a stupid dream that is not even that bad?!"
I wanted to tell her, but how?
"Whenever I'm positive, all I get back is negativity!" I finally manage to say.
"No! The kind that you put into the world always comes back to you! God loves you, He is merciful on everyone!"
"Sure God is merciful, but He doesn't love me!"
"Koyuki! Go to your room!"
I get up, silently crying. I felt so hateful that I decided that I'm done saving her.
