Chapter 3 - Darkness path of death

As Rune trembled in agony, his consciousness gradually slipped away, fading into darkness. Suddenly, Michael's eyes popped open, questioning the need to remove him from the bed. Gazing at the motionless Rune, the nurse responded, emphasizing the necessity of having additional police officers nearby in case he turned into a monster. Upon hearing this, Michael swiftly rose from inside the armored vehicle, flung open the back doors, and carefully extracted the bed which had the unconscious Rune.

Seeing that the doors of the armored vehicle was opened and Micheal was pulling back out the bed with rune the other police officers stepped out of their cars with Mr white the police officer from before walking over to Micheal who was standing beside the unconscious Rune who was laying on the bed.but Althought Rune was asleep Micheal made sure to be very careful having his gun pointed at the unconscious Rune in case he becomes a monster. "Why are we still here? And why did you remove the bed with the boy? And why is he now asleep?" Officer White asked, seeking answers. Michael responded, explaining the situation, "Anna suggested a different approach. She believes he reached stage 3 a few weeks ago, so she decided to expedite the process and help him reach stage 4 of the infection." Officer White expressed concern, saying, "That's truly terrible and agonizing, isn't it?" Michael remained silent while more police officers arrived, and he and Officer White briefed them on the current situation.

After alerting the rest of their colleagues about the ongoing situation, Officer White and Officer Michael cautiously approached Rune, who was still unconscious. With their guns drawn, they prepared themselves in case he transformed into a monstrous creature. Meanwhile, Nurse Anna, wearing protective gloves, emerged from the armored vehicle, carrying a box. Sensing the tension, Officer Michael inquired, "What's our next move?" As Anna gently placed the box on the ground, she replied, "All we can do now is wait. Hopefully, he won't turn into a monster, but even if he doesn't, I doubt he'll be pleased."

As Rune slowly opened his eyes, a dismal emptiness met his gaze. It stretched endlessly, with nothing but an abyss of darkness surrounding him. A chilling silence enveloped the air, amplifying his voice as he called out into the void. "Hello? Is anyone there?" his voice reverberated, only to be swallowed by the eerie darkness. Doubt gnawed at his mind - was he trapped in the realm of the departed? Perhaps this desolate place was none other than the depths of hell itself. As Rune turned, his heart sank. There was no sign of life or light, just a vast expanse of nothingness that seemed to stretch into eternity.

"Hello, is anyone there?" Rune repeated fervently, his words echoing through the darkness. Yet, silence prevailed, and no response came to meet him. In the face of uncertainty, Rune pondered his next move, his eyes fixated on the abyss. Finally, after much contemplation, he summoned the courage to take a step forward. With determination fueling his every stride, he ventured forth into the enigmatic shadows, embracing whatever lay ahead.

As he navigated through the abyss, he discerned distant voices echoing in his ears: the nurse's voice, who had administered the injections before his unconsciousness took hold. The voices whispered, encouraging him to seek his heart amidst the shadows. "Believe," they urged, "believe that a glimmer of light resides within, and persist in your search, no matter the duration." Rune, intrigued, remarked, "Well, that's certainly strange," as he forged ahead in the realm of darkness.

As Rune defiantly wandered through the darkness for an hour, his determination to survive burned fierce. He pressed on relentlessly, disregarding the exhaustion that settled into his bones. Meanwhile, outside, the police maintained their vigilant stance, their guns poised in anticipation of any possible transformation into a monstrous being. Time seemed distorted in this tense atmosphere; it wasn't just one hour that had elapsed, but a grueling and never-ending nine hours. Officer White, observing the futile situation, turned to Ann with an urgent question. As the night wore on and the officers' personal lives beckoned, he inquired when Rune would finally awaken from his slumber. The situation had become critical, demanding a resolution.

After hours of walking, Rune's exhaustion finally caught up with him, causing him to collapse onto his knees in the dark. But as he looked up, a light shimmered in the distance, beckoning him to continue. Summoning his last ounce of strength, he rose to his feet and sprinted towards the light. Upon touching it, a haunting voice echoed through the air, proclaiming him chosen by the Darkness path of death. Suddenly, memories flooded Rune's mind, revealing hidden potential and granting knowledge of his newfound abilities. However, the sheer intensity of these memories overwhelmed him, compelling him to clutch his head and release a piercing scream before succumbing to unconsciousness. When Rune awoke, he found himself lying on a bed, surrounded by police officers who had their guns trained on him. The realization hit him - he was still restrained, trapped in confinement.

"Oh, I see that you managed to survive," Anna said with a smirk, approaching Rune who was still restrained to the bed. In her hand, she held a small gun that appeared almost like a toy, but the threat it posed was far from playful. With precision, she pressed the toy-like gun against Rune's chest and pulled the trigger, causing an instant surge of pain. "Our time together is over now," she proclaimed, confidently. Rune, regaining his senses, inquired about the time. Anna responded calmly, "You lost consciousness yesterday, so it's now early morning." Rune was taken aback and exclaimed, "That's a considerably long time!"

Your left eye's pupil has turned from brown to black, indicating that you have been chosen by the Darkness path of death. Not understanding the implications, Rune simply asked, "What will happen to me now? Can I stay since I have resisted the infection?" Anna regretfully replied, "I'm sorry, but that's precisely why we need you to leave immediately. Normally, we could have provided you with a special final meal, but since the process is already complete, we are unable to do so."
