As I made it off of the human world and could no longer see their disgusting architecture I activated my communicator so that I can see if I had any requests while I was on my last mission.
The communicator for my missions was located in an area that I referred to as my ready room.
In this room I had a table that was in the center and on top of it there was a communicator that projected the different kinds of missions that I had been offered.
On the wall behind the table was a painting of a vampire turning a human into their undead minion.
I sat down in the chair and activated the communicator so I could decide what kind of mission I wanted to accept.
The first projection I saw was of a middle-aged male human but they clean shaven face and loose short hair. He was wearing a business suit.
"Sir I am going to hire you to kill my wife. She is al....".
"Delete this request". I said and then the hologram started to fade away and it was quickly replaced with another one.
The second hologram was of a pure blooded vampire. He was wearing a military uniform.
This uniform had a human skull with three stars above the head meaning that he was a very high rank of the tactical decision.
"We are wanting to hire you to kill a set of vampire traders that have been reported trading and communicating with The Fifth Column.
As you know we cannot allow this to go on without punishment. If your reputation is not exaggerated then you are the perfect person for this job.
All we want you to do is to find the ringleader and his officers. When you do kill them and do not leave a choice behind.
If you succeed in this Mission we will not just be paying you in money. We will also be giving you a pair of Hinden 45's. These weapons are top of the line and are military grade based weapons."
I then deactivated the projector since I knew that I was going to most likely accept the second request.
When I was sitting down thinking about all of the second mission request that I had been sent I got notified on my communicator that someone was trying to directly contact me.
I activated it and a projection of Marcus in front of me.
"You told me to contact you as soon as I gathered information on that specific female vampire.
I have discovered that she is named Jade. She is also the only child of the vampire family that deals in assassinations".
"Wait why would an assassin be involved in something as simple as the retrieval of an artifact? That must be because her household had received a unique request to retrieve it at all costs just like I had".
"That makes sense; also why did you exactly ask for this information on her?"
"Because after we both touched the artifact we teleported to some other plane of existence.
When we were both there I met a being who claimed to be the deity of our race, but I could have sworn an our deity was of the female sex".
"Are you serious? Why would there be someone claiming to be our racial deity that decided to spend time with both of you?".
"He claimed to me that both myself and Jade were candidates to become the next deity of our species; but in the end I told him that I did not care about the absurd thing that he said that I was. All I cared about was completing the mission, and so after that he opened a portal for me to return to the mortal plain of existence".
I chose not to tell him about how I tried to fight him and he just kept disappearing as I was swinging at him with the full strength of both of my arms.
"Okay did you at least look at all of the three requests that were sent to you while you were away?"
"I instantly declined the first one; and check the second one". I stated to him in a very confident tone as if I knew that I had made the right decision.
"I do not know if this is my place, but I believe you should look at the last request. I personally believe that you will enjoy that mission".
"Okay I will check that last mission before I make up my mind on which one that I will accept.
Make sure that you leave one of my special wine bottles for me when I get home. I have a feeling that this set of missions will require a very high quality wine to compensate for what I am going to be going through".
I then deactivated the communicator and chose to activate my mission projector after thinking about what Marcus said to me.
When the projector powered up I was able to see a prediction of undead.
This undead was a skeleton; while normally the skeletons served as the frontline soldiers for our race in the current war this one seemed to have intelligence and free will which was quite rare to find.
"As you can tell I am an undead skeleton. Wow we normally serve as Frontline soldiers I am actually one of the twelve ascended ones.
All of that aside the main reason why I have I chose to communicate with you was because I have a very special mission that requires an entire group of bounty hunters to complete.
This Mission will be the assassination of a human council member and his entire family.
The target will be Chancellor Zack Wardert".
He then paused his speech for a few seconds but it did not deactivate the projection.
"If you accept this Mission then you will need to meet us on Jeryon the third moon of our target world. The rewards for completing this will be discussed with you face to face".
The projection then faded away and I sat down so that I could think about which one of my two missions I wanted to accept.
After contemplating about which mission to accept for about thirty minutes I chose to accept the last mission request.
The reason was because while the reward for the second one was tempting I chose to accept the last one because of the rarity of this kind of mission coming my way.
I then went to my ships navigational computer and put in the coordinates for the moon where we were supposed to rendezvous for the details on the mission.
My ship instantly activated the warp drive and due to the high grade of the technology that I bought with the ship it did not take me long to show up to the appropriate moon.
When I got out of hyperspace I was able to see a variety of different ships that varied in appearance and size and landed on the moon.
Surrounding the ships I saw a variety of different buildings that were full of people as my ship took a thermal scan of the area.
After I landed my ship near all of the other vessels located on this base I activated my ship's security just as a safety measure before walking into the main metal structure that was located in front of the ships.
I then got out of my ship and into the main structure where most of the people were located.
As I entered into the building the door was shut behind me and barred shut.
I was able to tell that there was a variety of different tables throughout the room that contained different foods and fruits for people to snack on while they waited to hear the details of this mission.
There were at least twenty different bounty hunters here. While most of us were living vampires a few of them were human or cyborg.
This was a very common occurrence in my profession. I occasionally had to run into bounty hunters of other species on missions.
I enjoyed this profession because the pettiness of the war had nothing to do with making money; so we did not care about racial differences when doing tasks together.
In the center of the room there was a stage and on it there were three people. They were all humans and in their mid-thirties in appearance. One of them was a female with dark red hair; and the other two were males but with different hair colors.
"Welcome here everyone; now that everyone of importance has arrived we can begin by explaining the details of our mission". The male human that had blonde hair said.
"You all received an invitation from us about killing Chancellor Wardert and his family". The female said that she stepped up to being on the same alignment as the blonde male.
"Now to cover the reward that was so unique that we decided not to tell you before you arrived here. The reward for completing this mission is some refined dark Paradisus.
Now I will warn you that this form of Paradisus has not been tested as much as the normal one that are race uses so the effects are unknown. If you are willing to take that risk then you should accept this mission.
Upon completing it you will also all receive one Sacred Tear".
Everyone started to gasp and back away out of surprise with what he just said.
The reason why everyone did was because Sacred Tears were very rare. They are tears of our goddess. With this someone can cheat death once or bring someone back to life.
This reward would be quite helpful to me as either an item to use or I could sell it on the black market and be set for the rest of my life.
"If you do not believe our claim to have a Sacred Tear by accepting this mission then you are free to leave now". The female human said.
After she spoke the door was opened and most of the humans left in a hurry, but I chose to stay because even if the claim to have a Sacred Tear was inaccurate it would be a fun mission to complete, and it will keep me away from that female a little bit longer.
After everyone left there were only three people left in the room besides me. The first person that I saw was a bald male human that had a lot of permanent scars on the back of his head. The second one was a thick male cyborg that was entirely mechanical with the exception of his neck. The final person was a female vampire. she had on a set of metal armor and carried a katana on her waist.
"Since you have all stayed here, and since there are only a few of you you will all receive a bonus". The female human on stage said.
"This bonus reward is going to be extra Intel on the location of the family". The male with silver hair said.
"This family will be located on an island for vacation during the next week. Now do not take that as a sign that this will be easy because of all of the other previous assassination attempts on his life he has got an entire army worth of mercenary bodyguards protecting him all day long". The female said.
Then they stepped off of the stage and walk towards the back door.
"Please follow us to the shuttle that will take you on to the island where your mission will take place". All three of them said in unison.
I then followed the group staying in the back because I could not know if any of these other bounty hunters were to be trusted or if they had a second backer.
The ship was quite massive and had a variety of different sections for me to explore on the journey.
"It will take us at least 3 hours to arrive on the island. We hope that you will all enjoy the facilities that are available to you while you are riding with us". The female said as she closed the door behind her and did not allow us to enter into the last section of the ship.
Briefly after the door was shut behind us we started to move.
This mission was either going to be super easy, or in the end be another painful request that I have to fulfill just to maintain my reputation.
