Chereads / The Paradisus Chronicles book 2: BLOODLUST / Chapter 12 - Unified Demetra

Chapter 12 - Unified Demetra

After I got back into my ship the communicator activated giving me the details of my next mission.

After I shut off the communicator my servant came over to where I was at and mailed in front of me.

"so Master what is it that you want me to do today now that your mission has been completed?" My elderly female minion asked me.

"I want you to go and study the habits of the the Demetra live on Maldore-9. It is said that the Demetra of this world have actually solved their survival of the fittest mentality and have actually got a superior ruler over the world.

While we as a species are not against other races evolving it would be detrimental to our survival if the Demetra were to actually unify.

That is why our house has been hired to do this mission".

I then put in the coordinates for the targeted Demetra world, and spent the remainder of my trip time reading about the Demetra in our archives.

It seems that not much is known about them generally speaking due to the fact that they can all dramatically change after only one evolution.

Since I wanted to leave as a little as possible of this next mission to chance I consumed a small amount of the liquefied Paradisus that was in my personal stash.

After I drink the liquid I noticed that I was no longer in my ship. Instead I was in a pit and standing over the body of a Demetra that had broken wings.

"Oh come on did you really expect that to work on me?

You know I was told that your group was quite formidable since you had finally unified and could possibly be a considerable threat to my species; but it seems that it was just nothing but speculation". I said to the Demetra as their body laid on its back at my mercy.

Then as I was about to use my claws to separate its head from his body so the regeneration would not be a possible option it stabbed me in the back with its tail and I became paralyzed.

"You are the foolish one out of the two of us since you did not remember that I have a very usable tail; and for a variation of our species such as myself my tail is more like a fifth limb.

I then was able to notice that the vision ended and I was back on my ship.

This time I was grateful for the fact that the predictions were not always one hundred percent accurate because I wanted to do whatever I could to avoid my death at the hand of this Demetrah leader.

If I failed this Mission I would become an exile and bring shame to my family; and that would also leave only the unfaithful man as a candidate to become the next deity of our species.

"Master we are about to approach our target world. Do you need me to do anything for you when we arrive?"

"Yes I want you to come with me in battle. While as a human you were weak and frail you are now a turned vampire and so you should have a considerable boost to your strength, stamina, and other senses".

"Yes master; I live to serve you".

As we left warp space I noticed that unlike the normal the Demetra worlds that have been recorded within our archives this one had a very organized fleet guarding it.

This meant that the world was not going to be as easy to take over as I thought.

Briefly after I arrived in front of the world I noticed that a variety of military vessels showed up on my radar and they were of The Ancient Cyborg Slavery Bureaucracy.

The fact that I was not the only person interested in this world could both make my mission easier as well as much more complicated.

On one hand they could serve as a solid distraction to help me finish my mission and a swifter Pace with the least amount of interference; but on the other hand it is also possible that I could get captured so I need to stay on my toes.

"Well this is definitely become much more complicated because I cannot use my secondary vision of manipulation to influence the side words since they are more robotic and then organic.

We will have to try to avoid making contact with the cyborgs and move to the Queen's nest as swiftly as possible. So I recommend that we do not bring more material or items that we do not need".

"As you wish; my lady" my servant said to me as we navigated our way around the other side of the world where there was not a battle occurring.

Then I made my way down into the world and landed the ship inside a forest so that it would be harder for the cyborgs to find my ship.

I moved out of the ship in a swift motion and ensured that my servant was able to keep up with me as I moved through the woods.

This Forest had all purple trees that contained thick dark red colored fruit. It served as the perfect cover because there were no clear pathways created since the people of this world mostly ran around the forest instead of through it.

As I made it to the edge of the forest after about ten minutes of running I noticed that I was located near a Demetra nest of some kind.

The structures were almost entirely organic. They had some metal components going through them that stood out as if they were using them to support their massive structures.

The Demetra normally only had organic structures due to the fact that they did not have enough intelligence to operate machines or even create anything that did not push towards their goal of evolution.

I did not like having any kind of thought of what might happen if the Demetra were to actually unify and make any form of technological advancements.

"Let's make our way into the hive here so that we can figure out how they are integrating machines into their organic structures. Information like that will be of high value to The Undead Council". I whispered to my servant.

I then made my way through the frontal area outside of the hive where all of the workers were located transporting something on an organic vessel.

This best song was quite long and did not get in a roof but had two sections on it one for the driver and one for the supplies to be carried on.

My servant went from behind and killed all of the workers by selling off their heads.

These Demetra seemed to be a lot weaker than our archives stated they would be; is that a result of the fact that they are no longer fighting for supremacy on this world. If that is the case then this is going to be easier than I thought.

I then walked into the Hive and made it to the heart which was in the very center of the structure.

The inside of this structure was colored a light pink color and I noticed that the metal in the walls or acting as veins of some kind.

At the heart I saw a giant orb that had metal parts sticking out of it and I saw electricity running throughout the heart of the structure.

"How do you think we should take down this structure?" My servant asked me as I saw her dash into the room.

"Well according to our records if we destroy the heart the entire structure will fall apart". I said as I extended my left hand and shot my nails out from the edges of my fingers.

Normally this would not do anything but since my family specialized in assassination we constantly consumed a light poison that comes with a little bit of an electrical charge so that our nails when released would hurt both mechanical and organic beings.

Whenever my released nails made contact with the part of the structure I noticed that the electricity started to build up at a very abundant rate so I rushed out of the structure to escape the explosion that was about to occur.

I made it back into the forest when the hive detonated. This would both set the Demetra back in their attempt to make any form of technological advancement as well as keep the cyborgs from learning anything about what they have achieved.

"All right now that that Hive is been taken care of let us head to the main Hive where we are intending to strike down the leader of this Demetra world".

Then my servant and I dashed back into the woods heading deeper into the world not knowing what was going to be in store for us; in the end I had a very odd feeling as if I was going to be making a very important decision before leaving this world that would affect my life.
