Chapter 93 - Chapter 93: Dreaded News of a Dear Friend

An ominous feeling arose in Lucas' heart, causing him to gaze in a certain the direction, before shrugging it off, as nothing could ever pose a threat to Lucas' broken nature.

In the far distance, towards the direction of Lucas' gaze.

Mariejois.

In the quiet conference room, there were five seats, each located in a certain spot, forming a five-pointed star. However, in these five seats, only four could be seen sitting!

The now four Elders looked worried. They had a conversation with Marcus Mars, but the call suddenly ended, something that would never happen between their calls when on or coming from a mission, they were left pondering of something terrible to have happened.

"Have you still not been able to contact them?" Saint Shepherd Ju Peter frowned.

"My lord, we still haven't been able to contact them," CP0 replied respectfully, bowing their head.

"Let Kong go check, they shouldn't have been out for long." Saint Jaygarcia Saturn ordered.

"Yes!" Upon hearing this, the CP0 turned around and left.

The conference room fell silent.

The remaining four Elders wore different expressions, but they all remained silent, thinking and waiting for time to pass.

The order was quickly issued and reached Impel Down. The marines stationed boarded a warship and set off enroute to Mariejois.

Soon, they found a World Government ship stopped at sea.

"I see a ship! Get closer to it due north!" A marine spotter shouted out.

The warship sailed quickly towards the spotted ship and stopped next to it, some of the marines jumped towards the ship with a rope, and helped to lay planks that connected both ships to serve as a walk for the other marines.

However...

When they found the large ship that Saint Marcus Mars had taken, Kong was not happy at all, an indescribable rage and worry bubbled up within him!

He didn't see the shadow of any Cypher Pol personnel on deck. According to common sense, it was impossible for there to be no one on the deck at this time of day.

Yet no one was on sight.

Something was definitely wrong!

"Had Saint Marcus encountered something?" A marine who accompanied Kong in his inspection of the ship muttered aloud. Realizing this, they quickly ran towards the cabin.

With Kong surrounded by the other marines as they made their way.

Upon arrival into the cabin, "What the?!" The Marine who entered first screamed in horror, as if he had seen something extremely terrifying and horrific to see.

Kong pushed the marine in front of him out of the way as he burst through the door, and after seeing the scene in the cabin, he couldn't help but frown at what laid before his eyes.

There were corpses all over the room. Everyone in the cabin was mutilated and the cruelty of death was gruesome. They feared they wouldn't be able to piece together even a single complete body from all that lay around.

What is even more terrifying is that in the corner of the cabin, on the floor, a head with long hair and beard could be seen to have rolled around and was left with an expression of pure anger and helplessness before its death.

When Kong saw this head, he felt a chill through bones and his hair stood on end.

This was Saint Marcus Mars!

*Puru-puru-puru Puru-puru-puru.. Ka-cha*

Suddenly, there was a vibration in Kong's pocket, and the characteristic Den Den Mushi ringtone sounded in the room.

"Kong, any news on the warship that Marcus boarded?" asked an old man with authoritative voice on the other end of the den den mushi.

"I found the ship sir, but when we boarded, no one could be seen, we headed straight to the Cabin and found piles of corpses, among the corpses is the head of Saint Marcus Mars, he had been killed by an unknown," Kong responded without much suspense.

"He was sliced and torn apart into an innumerable number of pieces."

At the moment those words were spoken, a crisp crunch was heard on the other end of the den den mushi.

Saint Shepherd Ju Peter smashed the teacup in his hand.

"We understand," he said after more than a few seconds of silence and contemplation, the hoarse low voice of the Elder on the den den mushi could be heard full of remorse and a sigh of defeat.

"Kong, I'll send someone else to handle the rest," Saint Shepherd Ju Peter's muted voice came out with a melancholic tone, a clear sign of an indescribable depression.

"Ka-lick," said the den den mushi, before it then retracted back into its shell from the gruesome sight before its eyes.

Kong remained silent for a long time.

At the same time, in Mariejois, a tapping sound was heard.

The remains of the teacup in Saint Shepherd Ju Peter's hand fell to the ground.

"Everyone leave." Saint Shepherd Ju Peter looked at the guards and Cypher Pol agents present.

Upon hearing the order, they quickly left the room and moved far from hearing range of the room.

After only the four of them remained in the huge conference room, he rested his forehead on his palm and said sadness and regret, "Marcus is dead."

At that moment, the faces of the other three were hard to see. Their eyes looked at the empty seat between the five elders. From today on, this seat will remain forever vacant.

"Does Lucas know our secret?" asked Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, squinting his eyes, the lens of his glasses reflecting the cold light.

"I don't know, but the reported dancing clown on Impel Down likes to mutilate people and we know it's possible that it's one of Lucas' subordinates," Saint Topman Warcury replied with cold tone.

At that moment, a Cypher Pol, who had already left, returned with someone in tow.

"He's here."
