The woman's eyes widened in surprise before softening slightly. "Oh my god, it really is you! Come inside dear, come inside." She ushered Elena inside and sat her down on an old couch covered in frayed cushions.
Elena was happy to have found her aunt Mary and to be living with her in a cramped apartment in the remote town. She helped Mary with chores around the house, tidying up after her messy lifestyle.
As Damien lay in Elena's bed, he couldn't shake off the feeling that something wasn't right. He got up abruptly, grabbing a bottle of whiskey from Elena's dresser drawer. He poured himself a glass and downed it in one gulp, feeling some of the tension leave his body.
But as he tossed the empty glass onto the nightstand beside him, he felt himself getting colder with every passing moment.
