"I will!!" Zayn's small but firm voice was heard. King Yohan and Queen Tiffany looked at him with shocked faces.
" Just this once, Mom and Dad," Zayn said.
"Then you should go but remember to come back immediately, the CH hunters are still out there, " King Yohan said.
"Thanks, Dad" Zayn responded with a smile before whooshing away.
"Yohan! You just…" Queen Tiffany said utterly surprised at what had happened
"Oh, my love, let Zayn go don't worry he'll be back," King Yohan said
Queen Tiffany let out a defeated sigh while the King tugged her in for a hug.
** Hartley's School
Classes that day ended early since it was the first day of resumption, Kylie enjoyed herself, she and Vera had spoken for a while and now they were playing hide and seek.
"Where are you, Vera?" Kylie asked while searching the little garden at the back of the school before she suddenly felt a spine-shivering cold.
"Huh, what's that?" Kylie thought to herself before slowly turning around to see the figure standing behind her.
"Uhh, you're not Vera and you don't have our uniform on" "Who are you?" Kylie asked curiously.
"I'm an old friend, Kyle," Zayn said with a smile.
"Kyle?" Kylie thought to herself "Only Mom and Dad call me Kyle, every other person calls me Kylie". She added.
Kylie looked at Zayn again, this time with a longer stare. He was a bit taller than her, he had dark brown eyes that could be mistaken as black at night, he had very dark hair, wore dark clothes, and had a perfect smile. Who was this boy in front of her?
"I told you I'm a friend," Zayn replied with a chuckle.
"Y..y.. you can hear my thoughts or did I just say it out loud?" Kylie wondered. "Just who are you?"
Zayn took a step forward and the breeze blew gently, throwing the leaves in the garden front and back. Kylie's hair blew across her face, trying to cover her beauty. As Zayn approached, the breeze became colder and her heartbeat became faster than usual.
Suddenly her hands started emitting small bits of ember lights which formed a circle around her waist for protection or more like a barrier to prevent Zayn from coming any closer.
Zayn could only scoff in disbelief, fate tied his life to a human but the universe is against them having a close contact.
"What a cruel world" Zayn uttered faintly.
They were suddenly distracted by fast-approaching footsteps and faint voices coming in their direction.
"Kylie! Kylie!!" Miss Swiss kept calling her name. She was searching all over for her.
"Thank goodness, here you are a child! Miss Swiss said when she finally saw her in the garden in the school's backyard. "What were you doing out here?" She added
"Uhm, I was talking to him," Kylie said, stretching her hand to a space.
"Talking to who? Kylie " Miss Swiss asked.
"Him!!" Kylie said loudly before turning to face the area where Zayn stood. "Huh, where did he go?" She thought to herself.
"Who were you talking to Kylie?" Miss Swiss asked again.
"A boy! He was here a while ago" Kylie replied.
"Ohh, then he must have run away after he heard my voice," Miss Swiss said before leading Kylie out of the garden.
"Kylie!! Thought you were lost " Diane said laughing along with Rossett.
"That's a mean thing to say kids" Miss Swiss scolded.
"I'm sorry Kylie, " Vera said. "It's all my fault," she added. " But why did you take so long in the garden?" she asked again.
"Vera! I saw a strange-looking boy in the garden" Kylie said to her confused-looking friend. "He wasn't wearing our uniform," she added.
"That's impossible, maybe you're seeing things," Vera said. "You know, almost all of us saw things when we came here, so it's normal, but you can't tell your parents about it," Vera added.
Kylie got confused more but decided to believe Vera, though she knew what she saw, she couldn't explain it, so who would believe her it would only make her parents worry besides she loved Hartley. The two girls departed to meet their parents who were waiting at the school gate.
"Hi, baby girl!" Beatrice said smiling as she opened her arms wide for a warm hug from Kylie.
"Hi, Mommy!" Kylie said as she reciprocated her mom's action.
"How was your day?" "Do you like your new school?" "How did your classmates act around you? " Beatrice asked with one breath.
"My day was fine Mommy, " Kylie said. "My classmates were cool also, only that there was this strange boy at school today, " she added.
Beatrice's heart skipped a beat as she heard her daughter mention a strange boy at school. She had so many questions to ask her daughter but she didn't want to sound too inquisitive though she was dying with curiosity she decided to calm herself.
"Calm down Beatrice! Your daughter is in school, the boy she saw couldn't be harmful" Beatrice child herself before asking Kylie for some information regarding the strange boy she saw.
"What was he like? I mean the boy, what was he like? Beatrice asked Kylie as they walked to her packed car.
"A tall, fair boy. He wore a black round-neck shirt and black trousers" Kylie innocently said.
"What??!!" Beatrice exclaimed, she had expected Kylie to describe a frightening creature that looked like the demons she had seen and killed before but what she just heard her daughter describe as a strange-looking boy was human, a human child that liked dark colors
"And when he came close to me, my hands started emitting small bits of light Mom "Kylie finally said before taking a bite of her apple.
"Did he hurt you?" " What did he say to you?" Beatrice asked worriedly.
"No Mom he didn't" Kylie answered.
Beatrice was lost, the first time her child emitted light from her hand was in the presence of a suspected demon but now Kylie is emitting light because of a human boy.
"Why hasn't Kylie emitted light in her presence before??" Beatrice thought.
