With a variety of races, drunks and women the Blossoms bar was buzzing. Everyday ramblings reverted from the Blossoms bar giving of the feeling of a busy day. The waiters with trays full of food and beer dashed around the bar. Not a single seat was left open and more and more customers kept coming in. Soon enough a young man entered the bar. He exuded a piercing aura but had gentle eyes. He walked in seemingly unnoticed and headed straight to the front table where a row of people sat eating nuts and guzzling whatever drinks they were given. The young man joined the row but due to their being not seats available, he stood between two men. The barrister looked at him waiting for him to place an order. He leaned onto the front table and the barrister scurried his direction to hear what he was going to say. The young man spoke in deep tone, " One Pineville beer. " . The barrister quickly turned around and began pouring his drink and quickly gave it to him. The young man slid 7 soma to the barrister and drank about half of the beer. Just as he was about to finish his beer a tall man pushed him aside , spilling his beer. The young man looking at the spilled drink began to smile. He then tugged at the tall man's sleeve wanting his attention. " What do you want? " the tall man said. " You spilled my drink. " the young man responded with an indifferent face." So, just buy another. " " I can't do that. " " Hey kid, stop talking to me I'm trying to drink here. "The tall man then turned back to barrister and ordered something. Again the young man tugged at his sleeve and again the man tall man dismissed him. After a while of this the tall man turned around and pushed the young man. " I told you that I'm drinking here so fuck off! "The young man kept his indifferent tone but this time grabbing the tall man's robe by the chest. Agitated the tall man grabs his wrist intending to fling him across the bar. The tall man struggled to remove the young man's hand off himself. A moment later a man with grey hair and a respectable beard rushed in the bar. The bar fell quiet for only a second then continued buzzing again. The grey haired man quickly scanned the room and his eyes stopped at the front table where the tall man was about to release a thunderous punch. He quickly rushed over and grabbed the young man's arm. Puzzled the tall man froze with his fist in the air. The grey haired man punched the young man on the head. " I told you not to come here!" the old man said. " What's the big deal I had that under control. " " You consider picking a fight as having it under control ! " " I wasn't picking a fight. I was kindly asking the man to pay for the drink he spilled. " The old man then proceeded to drag the young man out of the Blossoms bar.
" You can't afford to mess this up in your first week here. You'll get plenty of chances to come back here but for now just focus on making an excellent first impression. Ok? "
" Come on. I only start attending tomorrow."
" The last thing you need is a hangover, trust me nothing gets done when you have a hangover. And considering that it would be your first time drinking we cannot trust you'll be able to know your limits. "
The young man sighed and admitted defeat. Later in the night the young man not being able to sleep was seen outside the inn he and the old man were staying in. He stood by the entrance gazing at the vast endless stars. Moments later the old man joins him.
" Can't sleep huh? I get it. It's normal to get nervous before your big day. But you got this, I know it."
" I can't help but wonder what exactly made him pick me out of the blue. I mean I am grateful and I will work extra hard to maintain my scholarship but ... "
" When we meet him tomorrow I will ask him about it."
" Thanks. I just hope I'm good enough to keep up with the other students. "
" You'll be fine. I trained you after all and I in my prime was one of the greatest hunters in the south east region."
" Here you go again with your stories. I've heard all of them by now."
" It doesn't mean they're not true though."
" I know I know , you used to be amazing or whatever."
" Used to! I still am. Which other 60 year old can do what I can do."
" If you mean sleep for hours at a time then I'll have to say you're the best there ever will be."
They both chuckle.
" Well I'm going back inside. It's cold out here. And uhh Raylin don't stay up too late okay. "
The following day was the opening day for the Demacia Mage Academy. This prestigious academy is one of the best academies in the country. To which Raylin was invited to attend via scholarship. Students from all around the country come to attend this school. The academy is mostly made up of noblemen and the rich.
Raylin but months ago received a letter from the head master and founder of DMA requesting he attend the academy. The letter had specified that if he were to accept he would be enrolled immediately. Raylin immediately told Englin his care taker to which they packed up and went to Demacia.
At the gate of the academy Raylin and Englin showed the guards the letter and were allowed through. The entrance was a vast open space with a couple of fountains and greenery. They arrived at the reception and were then lead to the head masters office. About an hour later they were called to enter the office.
Elegant. That was the first thought that surfaced in Raylin's head. At the end of the office a man was sitting on a chair which looked like a throne. The man had a commanding presence and both Raylin and Englin felt it as soon as they entered.
The headmaster stood and asked them to sit. They obliged and sat on the two chairs that were prepared for them.
" Thank you for coming here. I know it must have been a long journey to get here."
" It's fine. And it is i who is thankful for giving my dear son an opportunity to attend your academy."
" I see. Then you are very much welcome. You're Englin Zeal I presume."
" Yes sir. "
" Ahh, I've heard of your.... exploits. You have quite the reputation."
" Your praise is too much."
" And you must be Raylin Zeal." The headmaster looks at Raylin.
" I am. It's a pleasure to meet you."
The headmaster nods then introduces himself.
" Ohh sorry for my rudeness. I forgot to introduce myself. I'm the headmaster and founder of Demacia Mage Academy, Talon Farion. Now that the introductions are done let's discuss the terms of the scholarship."
Farion pulls out a contract from his desk and places it in front of Englin.
" This contract has all the terms of the scholarship. I suggest you read over it carefully. The scholarship will last for two years, to which we will provide facilities. Raylin will not be exempt from attending classes. You will not be expected to pay any form of tuition. But if we do receive money from you we will immediately send it to Raylin. Now for the conditions of the contract. He will be required to take weekly tests which include blood, magic, mental and other tests. The tests we will be doing will not harm him in any way what so ever. His safety is ensured."
After a few minutes of Englin silently reading the contract he puts it down.
" Regarding the duration of the contract. After two years will he still be allowed to attend the school, say I pay for tuition."
" Yes of course. It could even happen we renew the contract before reach the full duration of this one."
" OK. Can we terminate the contract before the end of the duration."
" That would be difficult. You'd be required to submit a month's notice and then a meeting will be held. To be honest it could take up to 3 full months to terminate the contract."
" Thank you I think I know everything I need to know."
Englin then is handed a pen to sign the contract.
Later at the entrance of the hall where the opening ceremony would be held Raylin said his goodbyes to Englin. He then entered the hall along with hundreds of students of all races, sizes and colors. The diversity of the students was baffling.
I never expected there to be so many races here since mostly nobles attend this academy. Raylin said to himself. At the stage at the back of the hall 16 people stood in a line. The headmaster walks in the hall and up the stage. The hall becomes quiet. Farion sure is an intimidating guy. His presence alone was enough to silence a room filled to the brim with students. Some of which are nobles.
The headmaster greets everyone then proceeds to give a never ending speech. He introduced the 16 people who were standing in a line behind him as the senior teachers of the school. After the briefing the students were separated according to their status and were shown their respective living facilities. Raylin who was not a noble nor had any special preference was placed in the lowest class.
