Chapter 4 - Chapter : 4

Vishwa, Kashi, Ranju, and Dev arrived to Rudra's room, preparing to go downstairs because Chandrasekhar and Vami would arrive at any minute...

"Hey... Why are you going to take a bath now..."

Vishwa peered warily at Rudra as he stripped off all his clothing and entered the restroom...

" I need to shower... I'm completely upset and not feeling well right now... "

Rudra gave them a lazy look...

" Sekhar Uncle and Vami will arrive shortly... Everyone down there is waiting for them... "

Ranju looks at Rudra, agitated...

" Hey... We've been summoned to come down fast... "

Dev regarded Rudra with scepticism...

" Oh, please... I'll be out soon, and they haven't arrived yet... There is enough time to closely get to know each other... Why are you in such a rush...? "

Rudra entered the restroom agitatedly and shut the door loudly...

When the four of them went downstairs, they noticed the entire family sitting very nervously...

" Dad... Why haven't they shown up yet... It's time to arrive... "

Veerabhadran stood nervously watching the clock...

" May be there will be heavy traffic all along the way and there is also rain... "

Parameshwaran thought for a moment...

" Everyone move... Don't stand here blocking the way... "

Janaki hastily pushed everyone away and went out, busily preparing things for when they arrived...

" My Mom... Don't rush and take your time... It will be difficult for you if you sprain something in the middle... "

Janaki was mocked and laughed at by Indubala... Janaki lightly smacked everyone who laughed...

" Mom is overjoyed that her princess is coming... Mom is not going to stay on the ground today...'

Bhanumathi teasingly laughed at Janaki....

" Come on, kid... I haven't seen my baby in eighteen years... "

Janaki wipes her teary eyes and turns to face Bhanumathi...

" Vami is a gift from God to those of us who don't have a baby girl... But God didn't even allow us to care for her, let alone move them away from us... "

Ambika looked about, concerned... At the same moment, the grandchildren began to arrive in the hall one by one...

" Where is Rudra... Why didn't he come down... "

Bhanumati inquired, looking at the Pandavas...

" He is taking a bath Mom... "

Ranju grinned and took Bhanumathi in his arms....

" When we called him, he said he might come soon... "

Vishwa greeted everyone with a smile and said...

" When I told him to come down quickly, he said that they are coming to here and then why we are in a hurry... "

Kashi looked around innocently... Everyone turned to look at Kashi after hearing his comments...

Everyone was staring out the door, waiting impatiently... By that time, those from Vaikundom had also arrived... Everyone's face was beaming with joy... Except for Bhavya, Navami, Shivani, and Shivami, the entire group of teenagers stood together...

" Shit... I missed to buy some firecrackers and all... "

Kashi gazed thoughtfully at the youngster's gang...

" Why do we need all that here now... "

Neeraj regarded Kashi with suspicion....

" Wouldn't the uncle come here after all these years...? Maybe he feels the greeting should be coloured... "

Rudhi mocks Kashi and says...

"Aw... How did you understand that.... "

With a grin, Kashi pokes Rudhi...

" You can't expect more from this moron.... She's arriving for the first time... Do not return her as soon as she arrives... You're murdering us with your jokes, and you're not doing it to them.... Leave them alone... Could you please... "

Raksha pokes fun at Kashi and sticks out her tongue... Before he could say anything else, a car pulled up outside, piqued everyone's interest...

Vami was sitting in the car, admiring the scenery... She smiled as she glanced at both of her houses....

" Dad... Where are we going first... To Dad's house or Mom's house... "

Vami laid her head on Chandrashekar's shoulder and inquired...

" As you like, sweetie, we can stay anywhere you prefer... Those two are equal to us... "

Chandrasekhar stroked Vami's hair...

" I... I.... just want to stay with Mom... In my mom's room... "

Vami's eyes were wet crimson as she glanced at Chandrasekhar...

"As you like... Come down and look everyone is coming... "

Chandrasekaran wiped the overwhelmed Vami's eyes and murmured...

Vami peered out with a smile on her face and a throbbing heart..... Some type of tension seized her once more....

A breeze engulfed her as she opened the car door and stepped out... A lovely fragrance flooded her surroundings, making her body warm...

Someone in her head told her that she had arrived at her destination... She gazed about as if she was looking for someone or anything... She didn't comprehend what was going on with her...

" Dad.... What is this smell and which flower is this... "

Vami inquired of Chandrasekhar while relishing the aroma that surrounded her...

" Smell... What's the smell, dear? I can't smell anything... "

Chandrasekhar took a look around and stated...

" Huh... No smell for you... However, I can smell and feel it... It has a unique fragrance... I'm at a loss for words.... "

Vami wrinkled her nose and said...

" Don't be concerned, dear... It happens occasionally since you are no longer familiar with the smell here... It's the difference between coming from the city and getting into Greenery... "

Chandrasekhar soothed Vami by patting her on the head....

Vami felt a slight chill go over her as she stood there smelling the perfume that only she could obtain...

"Arundhathi..."

Vami looked around, as if someone was whispering in her ear... But, to her astonishment, no one was anywhere near her... The same fragrance surrounded her once more...

Vami looked around at her relatives who had gathered around the car... She was overjoyed... They were both staring at her... For the first time in eighteen years, a magnificent sight....

" My dears... "

Everyone embraced Chandrasekhar and Vami with love... They were exhausted from hearing everyone's cries, worries, complaints, and love...

" Why are these people encasing them like a fly in a fruit...? If you look at their suffering, it appears like they will now return the way they came... "

Kashi stood back and watched the display of affection in front of him....

" Shut up... "

Youngster's Gang clinched their teeth as they glanced at Kashi... He smiled toothily as he gazed around...

" Give them an opportunity to catch their breath... Please, everyone, move and don't stop them on their feet like this... Aren't they tired after such a long journey...? "

Padmanabhan and Parameswaran both told everyone...

" Children come in please... "

Janaki and Kausalya both invited them...

" Come on baby... "

Chandrasekhar grabbed Vami's hand in his and led her to Kailasam, followed by the elders and the rest...

" After coming for so long, shouldn't they come to our house? How come this man is going to Kailasam instead... "

Ragini murmurs quietly to Kausalya and the other Vaikuntha women... Kausalya didn't mind because she understood why they had gone and was familiar with Ragini's personality...

" My Brother is going to see his wife first and only after that, they will look at everything else... "

Jayaprabha gave Ragini a harsh look... Ragini disguised her irritation with that...

Chandrasekhar and Vami walked right up to Lakshmi's tomb... All of the family had assembled in Kailasam, leaving only them...

Vami arrived and stood in front of her mother's resting grave... For the first time in eighteen years, she was close to her mother... Her chest hurt, her breath was locked in her chest, no sound came out and it was lodged in her throat, her eyes welled up with tears and it came out...

" Lakshmi.... "

Chandrasekhar had gone down on his knees in front of the tomb... His voice was trembling, and his eyes were welling up with tears...

" I didn't leave you alone dear, it's due of my lack of fulfilment... "

Chandrasekhar gripped the grave with shaky hands and wailed...

" There was no other option for saving our baby's life... That's why I delayed so long to see you... I'm sure that you'll understand... Nobody has ever understood me as well as you.... "

Chandrasekhar sobbed as he covered his face with both hands... His heartbreaking cries jolted Vami out of her reverie... She comforted her father by clutching his shoulder...

Chandrasekhar finally stopped crying and took Vami's hand in his...

" Lakshmi.... have a look at our baby... Isn't she grown into a big kid... Isn't she beginning to look a lot like you now... "

Chandrasekhar grinned as he kissed Vami's face and glanced down at the tomb...

Chandrasekhar walks away from Vami, who is looking at the tomb, and stands back a little... He decided to leave them alone in their world for a bit... He thought they should say all they couldn't say so far...

" Mom..... "

Vami finally placed her head on the tomb, as though in relief... Chandrasekhar's eyes welled up with emotions as he gazed longingly at his daughter...

With warm eyes, he watched the mother-daughter reunion from a distance.

Vami was showered with flowers by the Champak tree that was close to the tomb... The icy breeze that surrounding her sounded like a mother's lullaby... The scent of the Champak flower that blossomed there smelled like a mother's love...

Rudran emerged from his bath, surrounded by the fragrant scent of Elengi... When he peeked out the window, he noticed a girl clinging to Lakshmi's tomb... When he saw that, his chest heaved.... He couldn't figure out why... When he received a call, he stepped down to the balcony....
