The horse neighed as Wivior pulled onto his reigns to make it come to an abrupt halt. Elvira's hands warmed his chest. She held onto him as firmly as possible. Her eyes were sealed tightly to hold back a river of tears. No matter how much she denied it, her family mattered. Lilith also affected her, be it only negatively. Her mother's poisonous words and every punishment were core memories of Elvira.
"Darling?" Wivior rubbed her hands. "It's time to get off. You have been quiet for most of the ride. Is everything alright there?"
Elvira opened her eyes, and a tsunami of water poured out. She covered her mouth to keep her sobs from reaching his ears. It was a day of joy, not sadness.
"Are you crying back there?" said Wivior.
"No!" she replied in a low, teary voice.
"I may have upset my wife with a foolish prank," Wivior began. "But I can decipher her silence."
