Valaine dunked the nib of her dip pin in a fancy silver ink pot before moving it to paper. It was a letter meant for Uncle Eldritch. She had picked an old-fashioned way to report to him about her first day with wizards. Why did she choose the human method of long-distance communication?
Well, because no one and nothing was trustworthy at a wizard's castle. The walls could have ears, and who knows, spies could be watching and monitoring her and Leona's every move. Her enchanted message wouldn't make it out of such a hostile place without landing in the hands of the enemy.
Valaine was declared the most intelligent one among her sisters in her village, and she took great pride in it. Lilith didn't share the same opinion as all others, but it was because she wanted her daughters to be her slaves. Their eldest sister, Ursula, fitted perfectly into that role, becoming their mother's favorite.
